  • John Hall’s old band threatens to sue Young Voters!

    09/10/2010 11:24:50 PM PDT · by Impala64ssa · 7 replies
In a truly inexplicable twist of fate, it now appears that the Young Voters for an Orleans Reunion Tour might be sued by the very band they’re trying to reunite! Michael Knowles, founder of the Young Voters, received a letter today demanding that he remove the website. Read for yourself below: Just to clear a few things up: the Young Voters are in no way using any images, trademarks, or copyrighted material owned by the rock band, Orleans. The Young Voters merchandise–which itself contains no images, trademarks, or copyrighted material owned by the rock band, Orleans–is sold online at cost...

I was just called by Voter Roll Call about the upcoming elections. The questions ONLY pertained to corporations and their influence in elections. It was an automated voice and they asked questions with corresponding numbers for the answer. 1 Are you a registered voter? 2 How likely are you to vote? 3 Do corporations have too much influence in elections? 4 Do lobbyists have too much influence in Washington? 5 Which statement is true? a)I am more likely to vote for someone that listens to lobbyists? b) I am more likely to vote for someone that doesn't listen to lobbyists....
  • Hall lauds energy bill as good first start

GOSHEN — While acknowledging that it doesn’t go far enough in stemming climate change, Rep. John Hall lauded the nation’s new Clean Energy and Security Act, which promotes the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency. “Is this the bill I would have written if I were a dictator? No. Is it what we can get?” said Hall, who supported the bill despite its shortcomings. “We needed to get a bill passed that had broad support.” Hall, D-Dover Plains, promoted the measure at the Orange County Government Center Monday flanked by County Executive Ed Diana, as well as county Legislator...
  • Treasury Bailout Vote Fails -- and so does John Hall (D-NY19)

John Hall adds his name to the list of Democratic Congressmembers who wanted to provide for socialist bailouts to failed banks. Of course, the story goes deeper than that as well: the blame rests squarely on the shoulders of those Democrats who permitted the CRA and took a slice of the fat pie that Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac had to offer up. Men like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who helped themselves to that fat pie on the backs of unqualified borrowers and ultimately taxpayers. Shame on you, Mr. Hall... and for your failure to look after the...

September 15, 2007 General Petraeus' Congressman By Kieran Michael Lalor All politics are local. But sometimes, local politics are a national bellwether. Much has been said about the mendacious, full-page advertisement MoveOn.org ran in the New York Times this week referring to Gen. David Petraeus as "General Betray Us." Democrats in Congress orchestrated the piece, and most have refused to condemn this baseless attack on a man who has devoted more than three decades to defending the people of the United States. Incredibly, even Petraeus' own Congressman refused to defend him. Let's be clear: General Petraeus was born and raised...

With Republicans already targeting the 19th Congressional District for 2008, Rep. John Hall can probably expect lots of criticism as the House moves through the fall session. Some of that criticism came today from one of Hall’s potential opponents, Peekskill Republican Kieran Lalor. He released a press release blasting the Democrat for not condeming an ad run by MoveOn.org this week that attacks Gen. David Petraeus.
  • Ex-Rocker John Hall Wins Upset in NY Congressional Race

John Hall, leader of the rock group Orleans that recorded such hits as "Still the One" and "Dance With Me," has won a stunning upset in his race for Congress in upstate New York, narrowly defeating Republican incumbent Sue Kelly 51%-49%. Hall's views on the differences between political and music journalists were recently profiled on E&P Online. At one point, he had to struggle to be taken seriously by the press as a policy man. He ended up gaining the endorsements of all four top dailies in his district. The upset was more surprising, as this contest was never on...

SACRAMENTO A chain of family operated charter schools overcharged the state more than $57 million over three years and paid its two top executives a total of $644,000 in one year to run schools for at-risk students, a state audit released Wednesday found. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell immediately referred the audit of the for-profit Opportunities for Learning and the nonprofit Options for Youth schools to Attorney General Bill Lockyer, but the schools' operators challenged the findings. Spokeswoman Kerry Mazzoni, a former secretary of education, said the eight schools and more than 40 independent study satellite centers serve...
  • Replace "Still the One" With...?

Since John Hall doesn't want Pres. Bush to use the song "Still the One" as part of his campaign, Bush obviously needs a new song to use in his rallies. I know there are some decent conservative rockers out there, such as KISS, Kid Rock, etc. Certainly there's a song out there somewhere. Any Ideas?
