A former United States Marine who traveled to New Jersey with a gun he legally owned — but which was not registered in New Jersey — is facing three years in prison for firearm law violations. The three years is the minimum sentence that former Marine Sergeant Hisashi Pompey has to serve before he can even be eligible for parole under New Jersey’s strict gun control laws. ABC 7 reports that Pompey did “three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan for which he received medals for bravery.” He was a military police sergeant.

The FBI got help from an unusual source in their recovery of Tom Brady's Super Bowl jerseys in the form of Dylan Wagner, a 19-year-old New England Patriots fan and avid sports memorabilia collector from Seattle. Wagner said he knew "exactly who had it" after hearing that not only had Brady's jersey from Super Bowl LI been stolen, but also the quarterback's one from the 2015 Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks.

Some protests are more worthy than others, apparently We must respect Colin Kaepernick’s protest against the national anthem, we are told, because the right to protest is sacred and never to be questioned, and the last thing we should ever do is turn some inanimate piece of cloth into an idol that’s more important than our right to express our true feelings. Remember: American flag = mere piece of cloth. Not sacred. Not entitled to respect. In fact, the refusal to stand for it is entitled to the ultimate in respect. Get it straight. So then, if the American flag...

Wednesday August 24, 2016: In a blockbuster announcement today, Governor Christie conditionally vetoed two pieces of anti-gun legislation (A3689 and S816), imposing dramatic conditions that would change them into pro-gun measures establishing shall-issue right-to-carry and repealing New Jersey’s 2002 “smart gun” law mandate with no strings attached. ISIS hackers threaten 55 New Jersey police officers by releasing home addresses, phone numbers and working locations ISIS hackers have threatened 55 New Jersey police officers by releasing their names, addresses, telephone numbers and working locations online. The Caliphate Cyber Army (CCA), an ISIS-affiliated group of hackers that largely focuses on defacing websites and spreading propaganda, released an Excel spreadsheet containing the details of 55 New Jersey Transit Authority police Wednesday. The Daily Mail understands that the information - which lists the details of employees from a probationary police officer up to a number of captains - was obtained by...

One retired FBI agent says Donald Trump’s claims of seeing Muslim celebrations following the attacks on 9-11 are absolutely plausible. Jim Burkett was an assistant special agent in charge with the FBI’s office in Boston during 9-11 and afterward. He says during that time the office received tons of phone calls from people who feared more attacks and others reporting suspicious activity. Many of those calls, said Burkett, came from concerned and angry Americans reporting Muslim’s celebrating over the destruction of the twin towers and damage to the Pentagon. The calls were logged, reports were made and there were “stacks...

An illegal alien from Mexico, Juan Jimenez-Olivera, pled guilty on Wednesday to strangling 30-year-old Sviatlana Dranko in her home, stealing $6,000 from her, setting her body on fire, and lying to police about his crimes in April 2014. The two worked together in a pizza parlor; little did Dranko’s employer know, he or she would have blood on his or her hands for hiring an illegal alien in defiance of federal law. On April 29, New Jersey police and firefighters responding to a call found Dranko severely burned with a pillowcase pulled over her head. Investigators determined she had died...

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s (R) administration is proposing more gun control in the form of “security requirements” for firearm retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers–and employees of the same–in the state. The proposals originated with the State Police and are the result of “several thefts and lapses in oversight…that led to at least one death” during the past 10 years.

In June 2012 metal detectorists Reg Mead and Richard Miles uncovered a hoard of a staggering 70,000 late Iron Age and Roman coins. They were searching in Grouville in Jersey when they came across their incredible find that has since turned out to be the largest hoard ever found in the island. The Hoard The coins, which had fused into one solid mass, were found using a deep-scanning metal detector. They were searching the area after Reg and Richard had uncovered a smaller hoard of 120 coins the previous year. As soon as they realised the size of their find,...

Thirty years ago, disgraced Atlantic City Mayor Michael Matthews stood in front of a federal judge and pleaded guilty to accepting a bribe from an FBI agent posing as a mobster. It was 1984. Atlantic City was a boomtown then, just six years into the casino gambling era that was going to remake the shabby resort town that I was assigned to cover as a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Every day, I watched as buses from up and down the East Coast dumped thousands of slot machine mavens and roulette table hopefuls at the eight gambling palaces that had...

"Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has been publicly called out by the owner of a local eatery for leaving a 20-cent tip on a bill totaling more than $60. The Philadelphia burger joint PYT shared a receipt online showing what was described as Mr McCoy's paltry tip. 'The twenty cent tip that the Eagles' LeSean McCoy just left our server on his $60 check is going to come in really handy for that new official NFL McCoy jersey he had his heart set on,' the message that accompanied the receipt read. 'That is a .03% tip. New record!'"

Jeff Bell was a reform conservative before it was cool. He’s spent his career arguing with a risk-averse Republican establishment. He pushed Ronald Reagan to embrace the supply-side doctrine of tax cuts before deficit reduction. He spent the 1990s warning the GOP that its tax policy favored investment capital over human capital, corporate interests over working families. He designed a family-friendly flat tax that reduced payroll taxes, increased the child tax credit, taxed capital gains and regular income at the same rate, and ended business expensing. Payroll tax relief and a generous child tax credit are elements of today’s reform...

1 1/2 minute video at link. “Obama has decimated the freakin’ Constitution, so I don’t give a damn. If he doesn’t follow the Constitution, we don’t have to.” So who made this claim? Some crazy guy drunk on beer? Nope. More like an on-duty New Jersey cop drunk on power. As you can see in this video (and after the jump) he was not at all reticent about making this claim. Pretty shocking stuff and the video is now going viral on the Web. However, don't check for it at NJ.Com which covers New Jersey news in such detail that...

France has decided to remove Jersey and Bermuda from its tax haven blacklist as they have been cooperative in sharing fiscal information. EurActiv France reports. According to a letter from the French finance minister, Pierre Moscovici, and the budget minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, to the rapporteur of the finance committee of the French parliament, Christian Eckert, the two island states gave positive responses to the requests for fiscal cooperation that France had demanded after they were added to the blacklist last August. The blacklist consists of non EU member countries that do not have an administrative assistance convention with France, which...

A record of Neanderthal archaeology, thought to be long lost, has been re-discovered by NERC-funded scientists working in the Channel island of Jersey... a key archaeological site has preserved geological deposits which were thought to have been lost through excavation 100 years ago. The discovery was made when the team undertook fieldwork to stabilise and investigate a portion of the La Cotte de St Brelade cave, on Jersey's south eastern coastline. A large portion of the site contains sediments dating to the last Ice Age, preserving 250,000 years of climate change and archaeological evidence. The site, which has produced more...

Inspired by legends that a local farmer once discovered silver coins on his land, the men unearthed the congealed chunk of 50,000 silver and gold coins after following a trail of pieces — that turned out not to be related to the cache. A New Jersey cop who was spotted sleeping in his patrol car last summer has now lost a loaded handgun, according to his lawyer. Trenton Police Officer Richard Takach misplaced the Glock semi-automatic handgun in the city's West Precinct parking lot around 3 a.m. on Monday, his attorney Stuart Alterman said. "It's not a sign of him being careless," Alterman added. "It was an accident. Nobody intentionally loses a weapon. He was changing in and out of his duty uniform to his street clothes. He was transferring his weapon from his duty holster to an off-duty holster. And unfortunately he...
