Is China building a carrier? By Yihong Chang JDW Correspondent & Andrew Koch JDW Bureau Chief Hong Kong & Washington, DC Chinese shipyard workers have been repairing a badly damaged ex-Russian aircraft carrier and have repainted it with the country's military markings, raising the question once again of whether China is pursuing longer-term plans to field its first carrier. In the latest developments, images show that workers at the Chinese Dalian Shipyard have repainted the ex-Russian Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier Varyag with the markings and colour scheme of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy (PLAN). Additional new photographs show that other...

The purpose of the "RISING SEA DRAGON IN ASIA", web site is to chronicle, document and analyse the rapid buildup, growth and modernization of the Red Chinese navy (PLAN), and attempt to put that growth and modernization into perspective as it relates to the current geo-political situation, and as it relates to United States vital interests in general, and particularly as it relates to the United States Navy. The Site contains a extensive section with a side by side pictorial and technical comparison between the developing PLAN and the US Navy, as well as sections documenting the rapid growth of...

What is Liberty? Well, IMHO, in the context of American liberty, ere's an answer.... Liberty is freedom from encumberance in an environment where the unalienable rights of mankind are both recognized and respected and where individual "Free Will" bounded by fundamental moral principle is the avenue for interaction in society . That's a lot of pretty words that basically say that if a people are to be free, they and their government have to recognize and respect the God-given rights of others and be moral. In fact, liberty can not coexist with widespread individual, or institutional immorality. Immorality places an...

NEW DELHI - India and China, the world's two most populous countries, agreed on Monday to create a "strategic partnership" in an effort to end their longstanding border dispute and boost trade and economic cooperation. The agreement signaled a significant shift in relations between the two Asian giants after decades of mutual distrust and suspicion. "India and China can together reshape the world order," Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said after a welcome ceremony for his Chinese counterpart, Premier Wen Jiabao, at India's presidential palace. Together the two nations account for one-third the world's population. The statement announcing the partnership...

I'm Katie, Jeff's oldest daughter. He asked me to write and update everyone. I posted a thread on Joanie's thread but it was so far down I didn't know if anyone would see. He pulled through surgery fine and is now home recovering. They did have more problems than anticipated and had to repair four sinuses instead of just two as well as remove a cyst. He thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers and is hoping to be back online in the next few days. Thanks for all of your support!

Jeff Head will be undergoing surgery this morning, Friday the 11th. The surgery has been a long time coming, in that he has experienced, for the last several months, headaches, dizziness, lightheadedness, and a significant loss of stamina. After enduring a battery of tests, it was determined that his major organs are in good shape but he is suffering from a severe case of sunisitis. This morning’s surgery will involve going into the two frontal sinuses and surgically opening up proper drainage for them, while also letting them drain, medicating them, and attempting to clear them out without damaging the...

THE RISING SEA DRAGON IN ASIA 2005 UpdateBy Jeff Head, February 2005 As an update to the original "Rising Sea Dragon in Asia", that I publiushed in January of 2004 (and have been writing and warning about since 2000), I offer this update, dated in February of 2005. This report is fairly short and broad, and I believe does not contain the detail necessary to reflect the true scope of the emerging threat. But it does clearly indicate the nature and size of the current Red Chinese buildup, and their is only one principle power that such a buildup...

BEIJING: State oil giant Sinopec Group has signed a $70 billion oil field development and liquefied natural gas agreement with Iran, China's biggest energy deal with the No. 2 OPEC producer, an Iranian official said Friday. The preliminary deal may yield political benefits far sooner than commercial ones as Iran courts China's favor on the UN Security Council, where Beijing holds a potential veto over any action against the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. Under a memorandum of understanding signed Thursday, China's second-largest oil firm, Sinopec Group, will buy 250 million tons of LNG over 30 years from Iran and develop...

A STUDY IN REDUCING ISLAMIC RADICAL STRONGHOLDS AND MINIMIZING AMERICAN CASUALTIES: What follows is something I wrote not long after the Fallujah incident when the Americans there were killed and butchered and the islamic radicals made a party out of it. I commented to my wife at the time that we are in a war with gruesome, fierce, and dedicated radical islamic enemies as committed to their cause and willing to kill and die for it as any of the Nazis and Japanese our fathers fought. Also willing to indoctrinate their youth and have them particpate directly in the bloodletting....

For those of us who have followed Freeper Jeff Head's series, "Dragon's Fury," through its currently published four volumes, all you can say to Jeff is . . . . Do you have a crystal ball? Without giving too much of the plot away, suffice it to say that with the events in Beslan and the possible shift in alliances in which the U.S. and Russia end up fighting certain Middle Eastern states together, we are only a couple of steps away from seeing his plot unfold.

For all of those who have been praying for my brother, sadly, I must inform you that he passed away this afternoon at 5:57 PM in Denton, Texas. He died of respiratory failure associated with his lymphoma. We were set to take him home to in-home hospice care on Friday after some liquid was to be drained from his abdomen. Before that procedure could be preformed, he took a turn for the worse and his kidneys began to fail. The doctors indicated that further procedures might prolong his life shortly, but would lead to re-occurance in short order and probably...
