The strict father has been the target of much criticism over the past four decades, which is one reason why we don't have very many strict fathers around any more. (Divorce is another reason). LOS ANGELES - Actor Pat Morita, whose portrayal of the wise and dry-witted Mr. Miyagi in "The Karate Kid" earned him an Oscar nomination, has died. He was 73.
