An unauthorized vehicle attempted to enter the headquarters of U.S. Strategic Command (Stratcom) Thursday night, prompting gunshots and a lockdown before the driver backed away and left the base. Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, which is home to Stratcom, said the unknown vehicle tried to enter the main gate of the facility at 10 p.m. Offutt security forces activated a barrier system that prevented the vehicle from entering, forcing the individual to turn around. Alleged armed intruders tried to overtake a Los Angeles father as he was about to enter his home Saturday around 7:30 p.m., only to be find themselves fleeing under a barrage of bullets. ABC 7 reported the father saying, “I guess they decided to try to come at me and come in the house but I have a five-month-old baby and a wife and a nanny in the house and that wasn’t going to happen.”

New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof used an April 22 op-ed to advise his readers to consider using bear spray against home intruders instead of firearms. Kristof’s suggestion was couched in an op-ed written to persuade readers that having a gun in their home actually makes them less safe. The Department of Homeland Security will begin phase one of the Biden administration's new approach to immigration and asylum seekers on Friday by releasing thousands of migrants in three American cities over a two-week period. Police in Indiana believe a pet pig might've thwarted would-be robbers from burglarizing a home in Indianapolis. The thieves broke into the home this week and "completely damaged [the back] door," the homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, told Fox 59. Shots are believed to have been fired after as many as six people entered the Fort Benning Army base without authorization on Thursday afternoon. The base is located in Columbus, Georgia, near the Alabama line. Fort Benning police are searching for three to five males who may be armed and are believed to be hiding in the woods on the base, according to a Facebook post from Fort Benning. According to the Secret Service, the incident started earlier Saturday afternoon when a man walked up to a gate on foot. He later showed up at a different gate in a car and pulled into the vehicle screening area. When the man was asked to leave and refused, he was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful entry.
