Lopez Obrador made the remark as Maryland State Police identified one of the two bodies removed from the Patapsco River on Wednesday [03/27/2024] as 35-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Fuentez, originally from Mexico. Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore shows that "migrants go out and do risky jobs at midnight" and as a result they "do not deserve to be treated as they are by certain insensitive, irresponsible politicians in the United States."

Just days before Univision announced it would host a Republican debate, one of its top executives likened a Republican candidate to alleged mass murderer Dylann Storm Roof. Alberto Ciurana, Univision’s president of programming and content, made a post on his official Instagram account last week that appeared to indicate that there were similarities between Trump and Roof, who last week killed nine people in a shooting at a church in Charleston, S.C. The since-deleted Instagram post received hundreds of likes from Ciurana’s 116,000 followers on the site. It also received backlash. “With all due respect, what happened last night is not a...

By Katherine Timpf A winning high-school football coach was fired after the team’s tradition of eating watermelon after games was deemed “inappropriate” and “racist.” Bud Walpole had been coaching Academic Magnet Raptors football team, and was in the middle of a very successful season, according to CBS Charlotte. A current Raptors player said the tradition began when players bought watermelons from a man who had been selling them on their route to the game....

"I am sure Obama is a monkey and doubt he is a human." Obama, a "sub-human," "should not dare stab his finger at … our republic, the people's paradise, like a raven arguing that he is whiter than the heron." "Dark head-dome and dull gray eyes, cavernous nostrils, thick-lipped maw—the more I gaze at him, the more I see a monkey in a primeval forest."

A fast-growing wildfire in Colorado forced 11,000 people from their homes at least briefly on Sunday and threatened popular summer camping grounds beneath Pikes Peak, whose vistas helped inspire the patriotic tune "America the Beautiful." Live summit video from the 14,115-foot (4,302-metre) peak showed plumes of dark smoke billowing in the air, and a cog railway that ferries tourists up the side of the famous mountain was shut down because of the wildfires.

Leaders of the Onondaga Nation blasted as “reprehensible” the assigning of the world’s most wanted terrorist “Geronimo” as a codename. Bin Laden was killed during an attack on his compound in Pakistan Sunday. “We’ve ID’d Geronimo,” U.S. forces reported by radio to the White House. Later, word came that “Geronimo” was dead. “Think of the outcry if they had used any other ethnic group’s hero,” the Onondaga Council of Chiefs said in a release Tuesday. “Geronimo bravely and heroically defended his homeland and his people, eventually surrendering and living out the rest of his days peacefully, if in captivity,” the...

...Let’s begin with what I call the “Cookie Monster Experiment,” devised to test the hypothesis that power makes people stupid and insensitive — or, as the scientists at the University of California at Berkeley put it, “disinhibited.” Researchers led by the psychologist Dacher Keltner took groups of three ordinary volunteers and randomly put one of them in charge. Each trio had a half-hour to work through a boring social survey. Then a researcher came in and left a plateful of precisely five cookies. Care to guess which volunteer typically grabbed an extra cookie? The volunteer who had randomly been assigned...

On a radio show, the candidate doesn't object to host's ethnic and sexual wisecracks despite having criticized the governor's character. Angelides' appearance came after a segment in which a 20-year-old African American man named Master agreed to kiss a 72-year-old white woman named Sara to win a ticket to an upcoming promotional event at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills. Carolla made a joke about a "May-casket" romance, playing off "May-December," and said Sara had a case of "jungle fever," a pejorative reference to white women attracted to black men. An anonymous voice-over also alluded to Angelides' ethnic background...

Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele and former Rep. J.C. Watts (R-Okla.) demanded an apology from new Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean for his remark, "You think the Republican National Committee could get this many people of color in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here." According to Steele, the remark is "insensitive" and demonstrates a belief by the leader of the Democratic Party that only blacks are hotel workers, when indeed a majority of hotel workers are white. But it also reflects a belief that blacks can't make it in society beyond a minimal...
