A former Amherst College student is just the latest in a long line of men whose lives have been turned upside-down after being accused of sexual assault in what they say were consensual encounters, punished in campus tribunals where, in some cases, critics say, they’re guilty even after proving their innocence. The former student, whose name has not been made public, was expelled after his alleged victim, the roommate of his girlfriend, complained some 21 months after the incident and despite what evidence appears to show was consensual sex. As in many campus procedures which enforce school sanctions and not...

From the start, Fleming proclaimed his innocence...

A quick Google search can tell you what John Lennon’s last words were, but for anyone who isn’t a celebrity, last words are either forgotten or unmemorable. In the case of death row convicts in the state of Texas, they may not all be famous, but their words are being preserved forever. Ever since the death penalty was reinstated in December 1982, last words have been recorded, and more recently they’ve been posted on a penitentiary website. Texas euthanizes more convicts than any other state in the U.S., having reached their monumental 500th execution on June 26. …

NEWTON, N.C. — A man who spent almost 24 years in prison after he was convicted of rape has now been found innocent of the crime. A three-judge panel ruled Friday that Willie Grimes did not rape and kidnap a 69-year-old woman from Hickory in 1987. Grimes' lawyer presented evidence during the weeklong hearing that showed police did not question a half-dozen people who said Grimes was somewhere else when the rape happened. They also showed that two fingerprints found at the home where the rape happened were linked to another man, who has been charged with several rapes during...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department's internal watchdog faulted 14 federal agents and prosecutors on Wednesday for the botched anti-gun-trafficking effort known as "Operation Fast and Furious" but cleared Attorney General Eric Holder of any wrongdoing. The report by the department's inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz, prompted two senior officials to leave the government. Congressional Republicans investigating the mismanaged operation had accused Holder of covering it up. A report bolstering their claim would have been an embarrassment for President Barack Obama, who appointed Holder to his job, in the home stretch of the presidential campaign. One U.S. agent was...

March 14, 2012 (AmericanThinker.com) - My soul carries a new scar. The pain is fresh and keen, and I know that while time might see the pain fade, I will never fully recover from what I’ve seen, and done. For I have failed, intentionally and knowingly, in the first duty of a parent: protecting the lives of two of my children. My wife and I wanted children; alas, we needed IVF treatment to realize this dream. Several cycles and multiple embryo implantations later, we welcomed our blessing from G-d, who is the light of our lives. Recently, we tried for...

Jerry Sandusky will be found innocentLetter to the Editor Updated: 11/09/2011 12:37:09 PM EST I have to say I find the accusations against Jerry Sandusky very hard to believe. I have met and know Jerry through The Second Mile. Both of my daughters were a part of the Second Mile program, and it is a great program for kids. I would have never hesitated one minute to allow Jerry to be with my children. He is being judged in the court of opinions. This man is innocent. I support Jerry 100 percent. I also ask that people please do not...
