    Britain will lose out on more than $1 billion in planned investment in Scottish golf resorts if it bans Donald Trump from entering the country, the Republican presidential candidate's company said on Wednesday. It also warned that the millions of Americans who support Trump would be alienated by such a move. The Trump Organization issued the caution after a parliamentary committee on Tuesday set a January 18 date for a House of Commons debate on the issue. A petition on the Commons website calling for Trump to be barred has drawn more than 570,700 signatures -- well over the 100,000...

    (CNN) - The site of the San Bernardino shooting rampage that left 14 people dead and 21 injured, is set to reopen today. There will be tighter security as the Inland Regional Center's 600 employees return to work. The Center has been closed since December 2nd when killers Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik started their shooting rampage. Both were killed later in a shootout with police. Farook was an inspector for San Bernardino's County Department of Public Health. He worked with many of the victims who were at the center for a training session and holiday party.

    1) Polls show that, by a large margin, Americans feel we're on the wrong track, both economically and as to foreign policy. Yet none of you offers any criticism of President Barack Obama, who has been in charge for the last seven years. Why, then, should Americans believe that four more years, under your leadership, would be any different from the last seven? 2) Sen. Sanders, you've called for a $15-per-hour minimum wage. But even Vice President Joe Biden's economist, Jared Bernstein, considers a $15 hourly rate so high that it would cause an unacceptable loss of jobs. Is he...

    When President Obama addressed the nation after the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, Calif., he reiterated the call to resist animus toward Muslims. This was a familiar message — the same we had heard from President George W. Bush after the 9/11 attacks. We aren’t at war with Islam, both presidents have said, but with an ideology built on distortions (or medieval-minded interpretations) of the Islamic religion. Even so, many Americans still need to be reminded that Muslims, rather than our enemies, are our friends, neighbors, colleagues, scholars, leaders, doctors, mechanics. They’re our fellow Americans. Even so, we continue to...

    President Barack Obama plans to meet with families of victims of the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, the White House said Wednesday. The meeting is set for Friday. Obama is adding the stop in Southern California to a long-scheduled trip to Hawaii for Christmas vacation. [...] During a televised address in the tense days after the shootings, Obama said authorities had found no evidence that the American-born Farook and his Pakistani wife had carried out instructions from an overseas-based terrorist organization or that they were part of a broader conspiracy based in the U.S. ...

    Advocates for gun safety are among those telling a congressman that closing loopholes in federal background checks and providing more mental health help would reduce gun violence. U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson, chairman of House Democrats' Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, held a hearing Monday, less than two weeks after 14 people were fatally shot in San Bernardino. ...

    A change came over Tashfeen Malik two or three years ago. She started dressing more conservatively, wearing a scarf that covered nearly all her face, and became more fervent in her Muslim faith, according to some who knew her in Pakistan. But her path from there to the bloody events of this past week -- when she and her husband slaughtered 14 people in a commando-style shooting rampage -- remains a mystery. ...

    A Christian who fled to America to escape Islamic persecution of Christians was among 14 victims when a devout Muslim and his wife opened fire on a work Christmas party. Benneta Betbadal left Iran in 1969 during a raft of extremism and eventually moved to Rialto in California where she had three children aged 10, 12 and 15. [...] Another victim was Nicholas Thalasinos, a Messianic Jew who wore a tie clip with the Star of David. It is thought that the 52-year-old restaurant inspector had an argument with suspect Syed Farook about Islam just two weeks before the tragedy....
  • President Obama: ‘We don’t know’ what motivated San Bernardino shooting;

    President Obama on Thursday said that FBI investigators still “don't know” what motivated the horrific mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., a day earlier. “At this stage we do not yet know why this terrible event occurred,” he said during a nationally televised press briefing. “We don’t know at this point the extent of their plans … or their motivations.” “It is possible that this is terrorist related but we don't know,” Obama added. “It is also possible that it was workplace related.”

    Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump began a campaign rally in Northern Virginia on Wednesday night with a brief moment of silence out of respect for the victims of a mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif. Trump thanked law enforcement officials for their efforts, saying that "they don't get enough credit." "You're always going to have some bad apples," Trump said. "But I want to tell you they do one hell of a job and when you see these shootouts, I can tell you one thing -- I don't want to do it, and you don't want to do it." Trump...

    Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Wednesday called the mass shooting in California, which happened hours earlier, a “hate crime.” “Look at what happened,” he said at a press conference in South Carolina. “Again, another hate crime in San Bernardino today, at least 14 people were killed. Less than a week ago, we had the shooting in Colorado. And look at all the things going on around the world, ISIS and groups like this, just hatred and evil. We need to be able to combat these things, because otherwise we will melt into despair, and that’s not who we are.”...

    Needless to say, President Obama is backed into a corner. So what is he going to say now after a few weeks of begging us to take in Syrian Refugees? And how will Obama describe the shooting? Workplace Violence? Local Shooting? An unexpected shooting? Will he bring up that some of the police there were acting stupidly? Or maybe he will claim that he will not make any accusations until all the facts are in, right?

    President Barack Obama called for stricter firearms laws as after a mass shooting in California that left at least 14 people dead, calling the spate of gun violence in the U.S. "unparalleled" to other countries. Obama spoke with CBS News Wednesday as the shooting at a center that serves the developmentally disabled in San Bernardino was still unfolding, and cautioned that much was still unknown. "It does appear that there are going to be some casualties, and obviously our hearts go out to the victims and the families," Obama said. "The one thing we do know is that we have...

    In response to Robert Dear Jr.'s murder of three people at a Colorado Springs shopping mall last week, The New York Times exulted: "Even as politicians and those in Congress pump up public fears at the supposed threat of refugees fleeing Syria, every day in America people -- mostly white men -- are walking into movie theaters, restaurants, churches, grade schools and health care centers armed to the teeth, determined to take as many people out as they can." Mostly white men??? I know it didn't happen here, but is the Times really going to ignore the murder of 130...

    Farooq Saeed has been identified as the possible San Bernardino shooting suspect, who reports indicate walked into a medical facility for people with developmental disabilities and opened fire. The shooting took place at close to 11 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Waterman Avenue in the California city, taking place at a building identified as the Inland Regional Center. The facility is a state-run medical center that serves people with developmental disabilities, said Nancy Lungren, spokeswoman for the California Department of Developmental Services. Authorities were involved in a shootout in San Bernardino that left a “suspect down” and a SUV riddled with bullet holes Wednesday. Aerial video from Sky5 showed the damaged SUV stopped in the 1700 block of East San Bernardino Avenue with several of its windows shot out and the doors open. “There were shots fired, officers were involved and there is a suspect down,” a spokesperson for the San Bernardino Police Department said during a news conference immediately following the incident....
