I follow the news of several countries and I know the politics of several countries. Fascist is liberalspeak for right wing and so I prefer "fascism" to communism. By using the term, you have simply exposed your own liberal leanings. We all know this is how the left thinks and even labeled Bush a fascist and anyone on the right is a fascist.

The point about the Constitution mandating socialism does not cut it because it was Singh's party that introduced the word into the Indian Constitution.

You are wrong on economic history and economics. Rao asked Singh to open the economy and Singh for many years prior to being picked by Rao had actually advised that India tread the socialist path.

The nuclear deal had nothing to do with socialism or capitalism. It was an understanding between governments and India desperately needed our technology.

The Punjab is a lot like the Central Valley. Hot as Hell in the summer and good soil.

There's a couple of Indian restaurants we go to here....dynamite!

Yeah, I have met with a lot of Sikhs. They are mostly of Panjabi ethnic origin. Very hardworking folks. What is odd (bizzarely so) about them is how Texan they are.

They come from farming/ranching stock, are tall, have big hearts, have courage to spare and are always on for a get together of food, drink and (painful :)) back slapping

They are always volunteering to help the community and are a positive force wherever they live.

I told my wife that if you squint real hard and pretend that their turbans are cowboy hats and that their beards are bandanas, they could pass for West Texans!

Of course that spicy food they eat can hold its own against our hottest chili

He is the FARTHEST thing from a socialist. His entire academic career (which has been very distinguished) he has published paper after paper on Capitalism.

Rao was forced into a corner due to the run on the Indian currency and the dwindling Foriegn Reserves (at that time less than 15 days worth of imports). Singh gave him a choice and a plan.

Regarding the Communists, wow! Did you even follow the Indian news? His only way to form an anti fascist goverment was to take OUTSIDE support from all non fascist parties. He fought the communists tooth and nail (like with the pro US 123 Treaty)

First chance he got, he ditched them and won an election mandate all by himself.

Regarding the Planning Commission, it is in the Indian Constitution. So are the words “India is a Socialist Republic”

That is historical crap that must be removed by 2/3rds of the Parliament. Singh barely has 50%

He is about the most avid capitalist on the planet. India remains the ONLY major democracy to reject Human caused Global Warming and has remained commited to reform

I heard on radio last night, Shaquille O’Neal tried to get in and couldn’t: wasn’t on the list. Just shows, you can’t crash a party when you’re famous already.

There are what 5,6,7 challenges just to enter.

You would be stopped on the street at the corner of the White House on Pennsylvania Ave.

You would be stopped at the gate.

You would be checked when your car is being directed to a parking area or disembarking for Limo’s.

You would be greeted and challenged upon exiting the vehicle.

You would be greeted and challenged upon entering the White House.

You would be greeted and challenged upon entering the back lawn and ultimately at the tent.

Once inside the tent there would be a list and pictures of those allowed to get close to Barry O.. Those not allowed would discover what interference screens look like.

The person occupying the White is in an important position and he can’t be expected to meet and greet some 300 guests. Only those that have business with the State or have been heavy and high profile contributors would be allowed to converse with Barry O.

Steven Speilberg would get a minute or two but some noboby’s wouldn’t qualify.

“Enjoy some hors d’oeuvres and drinks before dinner and may I direct you to the bar?”

This whole thing is a scam. Just like the flyby of New York and the Nobel Prize.

As far as the planning commission is concerned, MMS's close friend Montek Singh Ahluwalia, who currently heads it, is doing a magnificent job, as he is shielded from the pols/ by MMS.

This is not a good argument because a PLANNED ECONOMY is a bad concept by itself. Only a free market can work wonders. A bureaucrat planning an economy is a bad idea and it is impossible to have a vibrant economy with a planning commission in place. The Planned Economy of India is based on the Soviet model and my reading is that Mr. Singh may be a nice guy and all that, but he has no clue about Economics.

The Hollywood connection is very likely. You don't walk in to these affairs. The drive-through gate on Executive Avenue requires a vehicle pass and ID check on the driver only. Being passengers only, they could easily get on the grounds of the WH.

From there, you walk through a metal detector at the W kiosk and only then do they run ID's. The guest list is always in flux, plans change for attendees so there are a lot of add-ons, hand writes on the list.

There is always a staffer that clears the NOTL's. The SS can only do what they are told.

When Singh became the Prime Minister, he actually shunned free-market economics and instead ganged up with the Communist Party to form a government. He stopped all privatization that was going on. If Singh is really a free-market guy, why does he still keep the Planning Commission?

Actually MMS did not gang up with the commies. His boss - Sonia Gandhi - did . MMS hates the commies, but is too mild to say it. It was his "them or me" which finally forced Sonia G. to call the commies out on the N-deal. She was not ready to sacrifice her Gov't and he was not ready to sacrifice the deal. MMS is no socialist, but he's no Capitalist either, in the sense that is understood in the US. I'm a life-long Congress hater and MMS is the only PM acceptable from that corrupt lot.

As far as the planning commission is concerned, MMS's close friend Montek Singh Ahluwalia, who currently heads it, is doing a magnificent job, as he is shielded from the pols/ by MMS.
