NEW YORK — Bill Clinton said Monday he understands why Sarah Palin is popular in the heartland: because people relate to her. "I come from Arkansas, I get why she's hot out there," Clinton said. "Why she's doing well." Speaking to reporters before his Clinton Global Initiative meeting, the former president described Palin's appeal by adding, "People look at her, and they say, 'All those kids. Something that happens in everybody's family. I'm glad she loves her daughter and she's not ashamed of her. Glad that girl's going around with her boyfriend. Glad they're going to get married.'" Clinton said...

Bill Clinton was a guest of the David Letterman show last night where he gave a tepid endorsement of Barack Obama. The next guest was Chris Rock who is genetically incapable of being tepid. He gave a near-belligerent excoriation of Clinton’s performance: “Is it me, or he [Clinton] didn’t want to say the name Barack Obama? He did not … He went through everything he could do … “Well like Hillary would want to do with the economy…” Hillary ain’t running. Hillary’s not running. What the hell?” If everybody hates Chris, he apparently doesn’t care. He makes an interesting point....

One would be forgiven for thinking Bill Clinton was entirely neutral in the upcoming election from his performance on Letterman last night, in which he studiously avoided mentioning Barack Obama by name except to grudgingly remark that both he and John McCain should be "proud" to enter the White House in these troubled times. The notable absence of all but the coolest support for the Democratic nominee inspired his fellow guest, comedian Chris Rock, to unleash a lengthy tirade about Hillary Clinton and ungraciousness of the former first couple in defeat. "Boy, is it me or he didn't even want...

Isn't it great to have one of the "greatest political minds and talents of our time" working on behalf of John McCain? He is working for him, right? Here's Bubba on "The View" yesterday, leaving the gals in a state of slightly confused swoon as he finds no end of ways in which to praise John McCain while Barack Obama becomes little more than a parenthetical. Elsewhere, Clinton commented on Palin's "hotness:" "I come from Arkansas, I get why she's hot out there," Clinton said. "Why she's doing well." ... "People look at her, and they say, 'All those kids....

I believe a former investigative reporter for Atlanta’s daily newspaper likely pitched the snowball that grew into the avalanche and buried our leading mortgage institutions. Bill Dedman in 1989 produced a series called “The Color of Money” that exposed the practice of redlining by banks that routinely declined risky home loans in low-income neighborhoods. Dedman wound up with a Pulitzer Prize and supporters for his cause within the federal bureaucracy. Sadly, most who initially benefited from his story have wound up with foreclosure notices. To understand what transpired following Dedman’s series, everyone should read two important commentaries. One was published...

Bill Clinton said Monday the Democratic ticket should steer clear of launching personal attacks on Sarah Palin over her relatively thin resume, and instead acknowledge she was a "good choice" for the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket. "Why say, ever, anything bad about a person? Why don't we like them and celebrate them and be happy for her elevation to the ticket? And just say that she was a good choice for him and we disagree with them?" said Clinton, who faced repeated charges during the primary season he was overly negative toward Obama on the campaign trail....

Bill Clinton in his appearance on the View discusses how Hillary Clinton Did NOT want to be Barack Obama Vice President and shows what some may see as Support for John McCain, he discusses the support John McCain had shown him during his second term as president concerning the normalized relations with Vietnam. NOTE: this is a Condensed version only containing clips from the show, and though Bill Clinton spoke of support for Obama he seems to negate his support for Barack Obama with many compliments for John McCain.

The banking and financial industry complained about the Banking Act of 1933 even as Congress debated it. As the Act worked its way through Congress, banks vigorously opposed it, causing some doubts about whether it would pass, especially with the provisions Carter Glass advocated that prevented banks from entering into the stock market.

The Democrats have a problem. Actually, they have quite a few problems, but one of their biggest problems comes in the form of Bill Clinton. Bill's not happy these days. His wife Hillary was denied the party's nomination for the presidential election. Now, most politicians, Democrat or Republican would dust themselves off and campaign hard for the chosen candidate. Bill and Hillary have been doing that, but at times it almost seems they are campaigning for the other side as you can see in this DUmmie THREAD titled "Bill Clinton Likes Palin's Political Instinct." This is a BIG problem....

When we last saw the last Democratic ex-president of the United States, he was really, really getting ready to go out and campaign for this very ambitious young fellow from Illinois who with his Windy City crowd beat the ex-president's wife out of her rightfully inherited White House. No hard feelings though, not among fellow Democrats. Not even when the winner didn't pick the near-winner as his female runDemocratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama and former Democratic president Bill Clinton in happier daysning mate, leaving an opening the size of Alaska for the Republican presidential nominee to pick a female...

Bubba talks about Palin like a randy teenage boy. Okay, he is a randy teenage boy, but still, is there much here he doesn't find "exciting" about her? Looks like he was looking for some Arkansas Troopers to find out if Palin was in the building. Palin is the reason Obama will lose this race and Bill Clinton is fawning over her. Hmmm. Wonder what he's saying to the Hill-Dems here? "Palin will do, ladies, until Hillary comes back in 2012?" Then again, maybe he's just horndoggin' the knock-out. His furnace lights at about 2:30.

While not an outright endorsement, Bill’s comments on Sarah Palin are far more respectable than what we’ve seen from the MSM and the Obama campaign: Mr Clinton, acclaimed even by his enemies as one of the most consummate American politicians in recent history, said he did not agree with Republican vice presidential pick Mrs Palin on politics, but warned fellow Democrats not to underestimate her. “She’s an instinctively effective candidate and with a compelling story,” Mr Clinton said in an interview with CNBC. “I think it was exciting to some that she was a woman,” said Mr Clinton. “I think...
