While announcing the launch of an executive level gun control office–the Office of Gun Violence Prevention–President Joe Biden called again for a ban on “assault weapons” and said, “If you need 80 shots in a magazine you shouldn’t own a gun.” On September 19, 2023, Breitbart News reported Biden’s plans to launch the executive gun control office and, on September 21, 2023, noted that he had tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to lead it.

resident Biden on Saturday said that no intelligent person can deny the impacts of climate change after the president toured storm damage in Florida from Hurricane Idalia. “Nobody can deny the impact of climate crises - at least nobody intelligent can deny the impact of the climate crisis anymore. Just look around, around the nation and the world for that matter,” Biden said while in Live Oak, Fla. “Historic floods, intense droughts, extreme heat, deadly wildfires that have caused serious damage that we’ve never seen before.” He traveled to the Sunshine State to survey damage, meet with survivors and thank...

From the article: Perhaps sharing more than his wife might prefer, the president confided that Mrs. Biden insists he combat the effects of age in other ways. “She gets very upset if I have not fully shaven, all this excessive amount of hair I have,” he said. “You know what I mean?”

The clamor of second graders breaking away from lessons to form lunch lines has gotten quieter in a rural New Mexico community, where families losing coal jobs have been forced to pack up and leave in search of work. At Judy Nelson Elementary, 1 in 4 students have left in an exodus spurred by decisions made five years ago to shutter a coal-fired power plant and mine that sit just up the road from the school in a largely Navajo community. The plant and mine had provided electricity to millions of people across the southwestern U.S. for nearly a half-century....

President Joe Biden claimed Thursday he spoke with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) about the federal government response to Hurricane Ian “four or five times” after initially resisting calling the governor personally. The White House spent most of Tuesday defending the president for resisting making a personal phone call to DeSantis prior to the storm, despite previously doing so for other governors facing damaging hurricanes. DeSantis told reporters Tuesday evening he had not heard from Biden personally, but that he would be “happy to brief the President if he’s interested in hearing what we’re doing in Florida.”

President Joe Biden said he was feeling great and had got through COVID with only mild discomfort, he said Wednesday morning, but he suggested Americans should wear masks indoors as the nation grapples with the latest infectious variant. And he paid tribute to vaccinations, which he said allowed him to stay in the White House in contrast to President Donald Trump who had to be airlifted to hospital. 'Here's the bottom line: When my predecessor got COVID he had to get helicoptered to Walter Reed Medical Center,' said Biden, 79. 'He was severely ill. Thankfully he recovered. 'I got COVID,...

President Joe Biden demanded Wednesday that gas stations start lowering their prices, in his latest attempt to address record-high prices this summer. “To the companies running gas stations and setting those prices at the pump, this is a time of war, global peril, Ukraine,” he said. The president spoke about the record high gas prices occurring during his administration during a speech on his imitation White House set across the street. “These are not normal times. Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you are paying for the product,” Biden said. “Do it...

President Biden's move to ban all Russian oil imports failed to impress ConocoPhillips CEO Ryan Lance, who didn't hold back on his opinion. It's "the stupidest thing you could ever imagine," said Lance during a Q&A moderated by Daniel Yergin at the CERAWeek by S&P Global conference in Houston. He warned that "it is incredibly shortsighted and may actually have the opposite effect of what they think will happen."

President Barack Obama began the second day of his annual Hawaii holiday vacation Sunday with a wet midmorning walk at Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden on Oahu’s Windward side. The president and first lady were joined by friends for the nature walk in Kaneohe on a rainy, overcast day. At times the rain turned into a downpour,

I suppose this is one way to look at things, but it’s certainly not the slightest bit accurate. Sunday, President Obama accused Republicans of helping ISIS (though he always uses ‘ISIL’) by attacking Syrian refugees. Unsurprisingly, not one Republican has attacked any Syrian refugee. What Republicans have done is vocalize the same concerns articulated by U.S. intelligence agencies on the refugee vetting process. Namely, that because our intelligence ground game in Syria has been so week, we have no data with which to vet an influx of refugee status seekers properly, at least not for the time being. However, that little...

resident Obama took heat Monday for admitting he doesn't yet have a "complete strategy" in hand for training Iraqis to fight the Islamic State -- months into the coordinated campaign to defeat the deadly terrorist network. "When a finalized plan is presented to me by the Pentagon, then I will share it with the American people," Obama said, adding, "We don't yet have a complete strategy." House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul said in a statement: "It is no surprise this administration does not have a 'complete strategy' for training Iraqis to fight ISIS. What is surprising is that...

During his final 2014 press conference, President Barack Obama had some pretty stern words for Sony Pictures over their decision to pull The Interview in light of terror threats from North Korea-affiliated hackers. Amidst his remarks, though, came a notable flub that sent Twitter into a tizzy with joking responses. See transcript for the gaffe [emphasis added]: I think it says something interesting about North Korea that they decided to have the state come out with an all-out attack because of satirical movie starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco. I love Seth and I love James, but the notion that...

President Obama on Wednesday declared the conflict in Ukraine a “moment of testing” for the United States and Europe, calling Russia’s intervention a “brazen assault” on the nation’s territorial integrity that warrants a unified response. On a day of conflicting reports of a cease-fire agreement...

President Obama is taking a swipe at the Founding Fathers, blaming his inability to move his agenda on the “disadvantage” of having each state represented equally in the Senate. At a Democratic fundraiser in Chicago Thursday night, Mr. Obama told a small group of wealthy supporters that there are several hurdles to keeping Democrats in control of the Senate and recapturing the House. One of those problems, he said, is the apportionment of two Senate seats to each state regardless of population. “Obviously, the nature of the Senate means that California has the same number of Senate seats as Wyoming....

President Barack Obama's decision to play ball with some little leaguers en route to a fundraiser snarled rush-hour traffic in Washington, D.C., on Monday evening. A press-pool report written by McClatchy's Lesley Clark noted Obama made "an unscheduled side trip to visit and chat" with young baseball players in Friendship Park en route to a fundraiser shortly before 6 p.m.

The insider-account of the damaging divisions between the White House and the State Department comes as diplomats around the world wait to see if John Kerry, the new US secretary of state, can persuade Mr Obama to greater engagement on Syria, Egypt and the wider Middle East. Vali Nasr, a university professor who was seconded in 2009 to work with Richard Holbrooke, Mr Obama's special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, records his profound disillusion at how a "Berlin Wall" of domestic-focused advisers was erected to protect Mr Obama. "The president had a truly disturbing habit of funnelling major foreign policy...

"In 2008, I tried to only making promises that I could keep or work on keeping," President Obama said at a campaign event in Jacksonville today. "And I told you that I was not a perfect man and I wouldn't be a perfect president but I also told you that I would always tell you what I thought, I'd always tell you where I stood and most of all I would wake up every single day, every single day and spend every waking hour thinking about you."
