Kaleb Vanfosson was scheduled to introduce Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders at a rally for Hillary Clinton in Ames, Iowa, Saturday, but things didn’t go as planned for the campaign. Vanfosson, president of the Iowa State chapter of Students for Bernie, ended up being dragged off stage after he slammed Clinton as someone who only “cares about is pleasing her donors, the billionaires who fund her election.” The remarks came as Vanfosson was supposed to be introducing Sanders. While talking about student loan debt and attacking Republican Donald Trump for failing to talk about the issue, Vanfosson said, “But unfortunately, Hillary...

11 minute video only. (Full disclosure: I am not a fan of Ted Cruz and have been one of his fiercest critics.) Ted gave a rousing speech and was well received by the crowd in Iowa. He was the introductory speaker for Mike Pence at an outdoor event. He stuck almost exclusively to the issues and here are the highlights. 1. 2nd Amendment- Heller decision and importance of SCOTUS. 2. Obamacare disaster for coverage, choice and premiums. 3. IRS abolish it and go with the Flat Tax 4. Hillary's lies and corruption - met with 'lock her up' chants. 5. Radical...

Just how desperately college and university administrators want to control what students say lest anyone take offense or feel “harassed” is revealed by a policy adopted at Iowa State University (ISU). ISU students are told that they must abide by the school’s policy against “harassment” of anyone in the university community. Students must complete a “training program” consisting of 118 slides online, covering the university’s non-harassment policies and procedures, and then pledge never to violate them. But what if a student thinks that the ISU policy goes way beyond preventing true harassment and amounts to an abridgement of his rights...

The Trump campaign appears to be riding high and operating optimistically headed into the final week of the presidential campaign. The clearest sign of that comes in the form of a $25 million ad buy that includes new spots in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Mexico, all of which are classified as leaning Democratic in the current ABC News state ratings. The only of those three states that has recent reputable polling is Pennsylvania, the latest of which has Clinton leading by six points in the Oct. 16 Quinnipiac survey. Michigan hasn't voted Republican since 1988 and New Mexico has only...

We’re at the point of the campaign cycle in Iowa where campaigns cease signing up new people for absentee ballots and go solely into ballot chase and GOTV mode. The increases in requested ballots in the daily totals from here on out will be mostly from people who voted in-person that day. For mail absentee ballots, while they can be requested as late as Friday, there’s just not enough time to reliably get them sent out and returned. Let’s take another in-depth look at the early vote numbers, as we’re to the point where many of the numbers and vote...

A Des Moines woman was arrested Thursday in Polk County on election misconduct charges. Iowa woman faces criminal charges in voter fraud case Terri Rote, 55, is charged with first-degree election misconduct. Authorities said Rote turned in two absentee ballots at a Polk County election satellite office. "She tried to vote twice. That’s a class D felony by Iowa law,” Des Moines police Sgt.
