You have to give Michael Moore this much, he says what many progressives are thinking but are afraid to vocalize. In this case, he’s not calling for the return of the assault weapon ban, he’s calling for the repeal of the 2nd Amendment: I, Michael Moore, along with all who support an end to this epidemic of gun violence, propose a new Amendment to our Constitution that repeals the ancient and outdated 2nd Amendment (which was written before bullets and revolvers were even invented), and replaces it with a new 28th Amendment that guarantees States can have State militias (a.k.a....

Here's a review of the Henry Arms .45-70 Lever Action Rifle, and it didnÂ’t disappoint. This big game rifle was born to hunt. I gave the Henry Arms .45-70 Lever Action Rifle thorough testing, and here is what I found. The great folks at Henry Repeating Arms sent me over a blued-steel Model H010 Lever Action Rifle in the big-game-dropping .45-70 caliber. I had Henry Arms deliver it to my good friend Steve over at Silverado Arms Gunshop. Steve and the great folks over at the shop always make it a pleasant visit with many temptations to my wallet. Now...

Former FBI agent Manny Gomez claimed on MSNBC on Monday that hunters use suppressors so that deer cannot hear the gunshots. WATCH: (VIDEO-AT-LINK) Firearm owners actually use suppressors to prevent hearing loss, and even with a suppressor, a firearm would still be loud enough to spook a deer or other wild game. “Sportsmen, hunters would make an argument that they need that so that their target, whether it’s a deer, etc. don’t hear the shot,” Gomez claimed, “but numerous other sportsmen have shot from muskets–when the founding fathers started the Second Amendment–up until now successfully killed game animals without the...

Think you can’t live a fulfilling life without eating traditional meat? Richard Branson, billionaire founder of Virgin Group, thinks you can. In fact, he thinks meat as we know it will be completely different in just a few decades. “I believe that in 30 years or so, we will no longer need to kill any animals and that all meat will either be clean or plant-based, taste the same and also be much healthier for everyone,” Branson wrote in a blog post about Virgin’s investment in Memphis Meats, a company that synthesizes meat using real animal cells. “One day we...

A man caught on camera shooting a young buck with a bow and arrow in Monrovia has sparked outrage among residents. A video taken Thursday afternoon shows Mike Rodriguez taking aim at a young buck. The deer runs down the street, leaving a trail of blood. Moments later, the animal died. “I couldn’t believe it. I’m like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ Somebody took a shot at a deer right in front of our house in a residential neighborhood?” neighbor Chuck Tapert said. Rodriguez came forward to identify himself as the man in the video. He defends his actions,...

EVA SHOCKEY’S NEW BOOK CHRONICLES A TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO ALASKA AFTER A BRUSH WITH DEATHThe three of us (arrived in) the village of Nikolski, population 18, on the island of Umnak, the third largest island in the Aleutian archipelago. From the start of the trip, the vibe was way different from that of my excursion two years earlier. There’s a stark contrast between hunting with an all-male crew and hunting with your girlfriends. Oh, we were just as serious and hard-core when we needed to be, but when we didn’t, there was a lot more laughing involved. Needless to say,...

This hunter heard his skull cracking when it was in the mouth of a Montana grizzly! An Idaho hunter is lucky to be alive after a run-in with a grizzly bear in Montana. Tom Sommer was hunting with another man, named Dan, when the two stumbled across the grizzly feeding on a carcass only 30 yards away. Yelling didn't scare the animal away and the bear charged. While Sommer’s partner was able to ward off the bear with a blast of bear spray, Sommer’s picked the absolute worst time to malfunction. According to a Facebook post by friend Mike Asker,...

Wild pigs are perhaps the most destructive invasive species in the United States, causing an estimated $1.5 billion in damages every year to crops and property across the country, uprooting farmers' fields, degrading water quality and out-competing native wildlife for food. In the latest installment of AL.com's series on invasive species, we examine the feral hog, one of the costliest non-native species in Alabama, and what landowners and wildlife officials can do to keep their populations under control.

Feral pigs in Australia are a serious pest. They destroy habitat and native species, and inflict large amounts of damage on crops. They are a favorite target of local hunters who shoot them as often as they can.Few people in the area near Quirindi (200 miles NW of Sydney), eat the wild pigs that are shot. I was puzzled by this, as meat prices are high, and the wild pork that I have eaten in California and Texas was excellent. One of the reasons for a lack of consumption is the feral pig population is a reservoir of brucellosis...

When this coyote came into the call, he was expecting an easy meal. Instead he got a 9mm tracer to the head. After missing an easy shot at a standing coyote, these hunters are able to capitalize on a second opportunity. Tim Wells is at it again in this awesome video, only this time he’s behind the camera instead of the bow. Tim has a long history of making amazing archery shots, but a 9mm tracer to a coyote’s head is pretty cool too. If you're bummed out because all your local hunting seasons are closed, re-check your regulations book....

“There was four of them in a line … my son was third,” Clark said. “The bear came down the trail at them, fella in the front, who was his uncle, the bear was on him so quickly that he didn’t have time to take his rifle off his shoulder.” The bear ran through the first two men, who were pushed to the side of the trail, leaving Elliot Clark in front of his unarmed cousin. The boy raised his pump action shotgun and shot the sow, hitting it with birdshot, which is often used just to scare bears off,...

It has long been known that nonimmigrant aliens may purchase and own firearms in the United States for hunting or for sporting purposes. In order to legally purchase firearms from federally licensed dealers, non-resident aliens have to show a legal hunting license or that they "have been admitted" for sporting purposes. The easiest way to obtain a document to allow purchases at gun stores is a hunting license. Some Chinese students in Arizona recently fell afoul of the law by purchasing *resident* hunting licenses when they were not technically eligible to do so. From azcentral.com: In recent months, federal...

Gray wolves in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan could find themselves in the crosshairs of hunters as soon as this fall. A ruling is expected soon from the same appeals court that recently lifted protections for wolves in Wyoming. Officials say that whether Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan can hold wolf seasons this fall would depend in part on how soon the court rules. Meanwhile, wolf-hunting supporters in Congress aren't giving up even though a Minnesota representative was instrumental in killing an effort that would have allowed the three Midwest states to resume wolf hunting.

If you’ve researched short action rifles recently, you may have seen some rifles being offered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Using a case similar, but not quite the same, as a .308 Winchester, the 6.5 Creedmoor uses skinnier, lighter bullets and sends them downrange faster. 6.5 Creedmoor has gained in popularity as a great selection for medium to long range (500-1000 yards) shooting. Ballistic speaking, the skinny 6.5mm bullets perform exceptionally well, very closely matching the ballistic profile of a 300 Winchester Magnum, but with a LOT less recoil and cost. Its possible that for SHTF scenario the 6.5 Creedmoor is clearly...

and deep penetration at long distance. "How far?" The two simple words said much more than they implied. First, both Poen van Zyl and I clearly understood we each knew which of the reedbuck rams were to be killed, and second, it was down to a matter of the mathematics involved in taking him cleanly. Based on my professional hunterÂ’s momentary silence, I responded with a brief question of my own. "One-fifty?" "Just hold on the point of the shoulder, and squeeze the trigger." Poen van Zyl may have thought in Afrikaans, but knew how to guide a visiting sportsman...

How one rifle and load became a go-to combo for deer-sized game.As an outdoor writer, I'm often asked what my favorite rifle is. My standard answer, especially when I'm in the ï¬eld, is whatever rifle I happen to be holding in my hands at any given moment. But that's not entirely true. We all have our favorites. For some, it may be a beat-up rifle that's been handed down from generation to generation. It may be one with high-grade wood and fancy engraving. Many prefer turn bolt-action guns. Some swoon over a ï¬ne double gun, while others may shoot only...

With the introduction of two MSR-10 rifles for hunting and long-range shooting, Savage Arms gives shooters some excellent choices. Savage Arms' new line of next-generation semiautos comes to the marketplace with an attitude – the company has cleverly co-opted the MSR acronym for branding the guns, using the tagline "MSR now stands for Modern Savage Rifle" – but the guns are poised to deliver in the ï¬eld and on the range as well, with everything from expanded caliber choices and badass designs to a full suite of custom upgrades packaged as standard features. Although the four-gun family includes two MSR-15...

Does this sound familiar If you're a wife of a hunter, or maybe you notice your wife saying things like: Brittany Zeigler: You forgot how many guns do you need? Oh you need a new one every year? Lovely Susannah B. Lewis, Author: Yes I thought of that when I was done! Definitely more firearms in this house than on a SWAT team!! Cami Mash Hansbrough: My husband complains about how much I spend on workout clothes, yet we get phone calls from gander mtn and cabela's asking if everything is ok because they haven't seen him for over a...
