    • Stop the public dog park and all other misuse of Veterans VA land • Establish humanitarian emergency "Sanctuary Tent City" to protect our war-injured homeless Veterans • Same way your boss protects illegal aliens, refugees It’s been brought to my attention by several people who attended last night’s Brentwood Community Council meeting where you spoke and announced today is supposedly the last day to register either support or opposition regarding the City of Los Angeles’s free public dog park, free public recreation center and free public parking lot on Veterans VA land. And why shouldn’t it be free to...

Here is the latest (12/2) update on our quest to circumnavigate the bureaucracy while debunking Governor Terry McAuliffe's blatant lie that he "functionally ended veterans homelessness" in the Commonwealth of Virginia....

Some Michigan high school students are redefining the term "extracurricular activity." In addition to club meetings, band practices and football games, University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy teens are also signing up to serve as pallbearers for homeless veterans. Six students recently volunteered to be pallbearers for three dead homeless veterans. Senior Joshua Gonzales is one of the student leaders who helped develop the program. He said this new opportunity for students is "meant to help dignify and respect the human being." The students' initial plan was to carry the caskets for homeless individuals, said the Rev. Karl...

We still have thousands upon thousands of war-injured and impoverished homeless Veterans and they need your help to speak out in their behalf Fellow Veterans and Friends of Veterans When the Plaintiffs and Defendants jointly announced the so-called “settlement agreement,” the lead spokesman for the Plaintiffs called it “a good deal” and I called it a “Trojan Horse.” The lawyers for both the Plaintiffs and Defendants said “trust us.” Well, we trusted them and the settlement is proving to be a very bad deal for Veterans as the “Trojan Horse” has taken over and it is a very good deal...

64-year-old Dunagan, collapsed on a street of this Midwestern city last month and soon died, he was homeless and sorta alone — one of the 130,000. Instead of being buried in a pauper’s grave — an ending that would have reinforced his "anonymous" years — the Vietnam veteran was recognized as Army Sgt. Patrick Dunagan and honored with a military funeral.

They don't even need social workers. All it takes is common sense.

WASHINGTON — Advocates for the homeless already are seeing veterans from the war on terror living on the street, and say the government must do more to ease their transition from military to civilian life. Linda Boone, executive director of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, said about 70 homeless veterans who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan contacted her group’s facilities in 2004, and another 125 homeless veterans from those conflicts last year petitioned the Department of Veterans Affairs for assistance. “It’s not a big wave, but it’s an indicator that we still haven’t done our job,” she said. “I...

Staff writer Denise Barnes interviewed Nanci Jewell, D.C. metro director of U.S. VETS. Question: What is your group's mission? Answer: Our sole mission is the reintegration of homeless veterans back into mainstream society. I think, organizationally, our philosophy is really that each veteran is unique, their situations are unique and the amount of time it is going to take them to reintegrate is unique. Some veterans are fine in six months; others with more serious problems — those who have been on the streets for a long time — will require more support and their reintegration may be more difficult....
