ABILENE, TX -(Ammoland.com)- Why would the Census Bureau request customer records from American gun holster companies? That is the question AmmoLand News is asking. Several major holster manufacturers/providers received notices from the Department of Commerce Census Bureau requesting order numbers, product descriptions, and where the items were being shipped. A few holster companies have refused to turn over the requested information to the federal government. ... The companies worry about the Biden administration using the information to target concealed firearms carriers. Since the Bruen decision, there has been an explosion of people in the former “may issue” states looking...

So grandma recently bought a Smith & Wesson Model 60 - 3” to take care of the mice problem in the kitchen. She’s looking for recommendations on a good conceal carry holster. Pulling the piece from her apron pocket takes too much time. Besides, she keeps her pipe in that pocket and doesn’t want to pull out the wrong tool when the mice are running. Probably something in an open top design would do the trick, as the mice are quick and run away fast when they see her go for the revolver. Any recommendation for manufacturers of holsters would...

Think of Alien Gear’s Core Carry Pack and their Drop Leg Rig as multitools for everyday carriers. Generally, I'm leery of a product that claims to perform multiple functions. My experience is that when something tries to be everything, it turns out to be marginal at doing a variety of things. Take, for example, the multitools produced by a variety of companies. They contain a veritable cornucopia of tools for various functions – pliers, saws, screwdrivers (regular and Phillip's head), knives and so on. Each tool performs its assigned task adequately but not to perfection. In other words, not as...

Police have long understood that violent criminals almost never use holsters. The obvious reason is that a gun is readily abandoned by tossing it from a car, in a dumpster, down a drain, or off a bridge. A holster, normally worn on a belt, is much harder to discard, and can result in embarrassing questions when found in a search. Having a holster on ones person when you are not allowed to carry or possess a firearm becomes rather problematic. Here is a comment from Landric at defensivecarry.com: There is no real firm answer, but in general, no street thugs...

ROANOKE, Va.— A Roanoke business woman's gun and where she keeps it has helped her launch another, new business. Eliane Coleman Niemann has owned The Health Shelf, a full service herbal wellness center, for 18 years. She got quite a scare one day in 2009 and thought she was going to be robbed. Nothing happened, but an idea was born. It's called the Apron Gun Holster. "I didn't want my customers to come into a health store and be talking to me about their health, and I'm doing reflexology on their feet and then seeing a pistol on my side,"...

Four years ago this month, FIRE become embroiled in a battle that would end in a decisive victory for free speech in the courts. The controversy first began in March 2008, when Tarrant County College (TCC) student Brett Poulos attempted to organize an "Empty Holster Protest." In conjunction with other protests spearheaded by Students for Concealed Carry on Campus across the country, TCC students would peacefully attend class and perform other daily tasks while wearing empty holsters to signify opposition to state laws and school policies denying concealed handgun license holders the same rights on college campuses that they are...

When choosing a concealed carry holster for your pistol, selecting the best holster you can find will add to your overall total self-defense abilities. A holster/pistol combination is part of your concealed carry defensive system. While looking at a quality holster the one factor you should consider last is the cost. Experience has taught me you get what you pay for. There should be no delays to your reactions caused by inappropriate or inadequately fitting equipment. With your life depending on it, you may never get the chance to tell others you should have picked the higher quality model. Criteria...

My CCW is enroute. I am looking for any suggestions on a holster for my Walther P99QA. I am leaning towards a paddle holster (and no not for a canoe paddle..before someone goes there *grin*). Pros/cons? I've carried before in former service, that of being a reserve LEO. So I'm used to carrying the firearm on the duty belt. However in this situation, I will be carrying under a suit jacket or bulky shirt. So, paddle holster or on the belt? I've looked at the Forbus holster but I know there are lots more out there. Thanks, Flgoldwingguy

When some Tarrant County College students staged a protest for the right to carry licensed, concealed handguns, they didn't realize it would turn into a three-year fight over empty gun holsters. The college said it didn't want students wearing the empty holsters on campus. The school was afraid other students might think there were guns inside the holsters or that some students might use the occasion to bring guns to campus. As a safety precaution, the college confined the concealed handguns student protests to a 'free speech zone' and wouldn't allow any gun holsters on campus. The American Civil Liberties...

Maryland --(AmmoLand.com)- Our first rally during the General Assembly session was a success thanks to the 100 Maryland gun owners who took time out of their day to take our message directly to the legislature. While we’d obviously have liked to seen 1,000 people there, we realize that every initiative must start somewhere and we look forward to seeing the rest of you there next year. The speeches delivered by Delegate Smigiel, Delegate Dwyer and Larry Pratt were very inspiring and covered a great deal of ground as it pertains to our rights. We thank them for taking time out...
