An Iraqi fighter known as “the sheikh of snipers” was killed last weekend in a battle with the Islamic State. Abu Tahsin al-Salhi had been fighting for more than four decades in the region, beginning with the 1973 Arab-Israeli war. He was killed in northwestern Iraq while trying to reclaim the town of Hawija from ISIS fighters, according to the Daily Mail. Tahsin had a grey beard, wore fingerless gloves, rode an off-road motorbike, and used an Austrian-manufactured Steyr rifle. Read the rest of the Iraqi sniper story here.

Range safety is certainly not much of a thought in this shocking video. Soldiers train while firing live ammunition at each other. Witness this Russian tactical exercise that is nothing short of insane. That’s a gun range training video like no other! These soldiers are actually firing live ammunition at each other. Gun safety is thrown out the window in this action packed video. These guys are taking “train as you fight” just a little too far, see the full crazy Russian tactical shoot video here.

Shotguns can kaboom just like any firearm can. Faulty loaded ammunition can be the death to a fine shotgun. These seven shotgun kabooms send these weapons to their doom. This skeet shooter had a nasty surprise waiting for him…Squib art A little destructive art. This shotgun was a total loss from a badly loaded shell. Now that is indeed a sad and scary sight. Chalk up another win for the roadside buck decoy. IDNR (Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police) looks to stop roadside hunting and poaching, and this tool always seems to get the job done. Just ask this young boy (and his grandfather). If you devote countless hours of work, sweat, and thought to your deer hunting, stories of illegal hunting and poaching irk you like nothing else in this world. Illinois Department of Resources officers are often on the lookout to stop these things, and man did they get this one quick. According the the Illinois Department of Natural Resources...
  • Revolvers: Ideal or Obsolete?

    Am Shooting Journal ^ | 10/6/2017 | Chris Baker
Are revolvers ideal or obsolete? This is somewhat less argued a question than the age old comparison of 9mm v .45 but still worthy of discussion. Lucky Gunner (Chris Baker) asked that question a couple weeks ago and we figured we’d share this with you. Short excerpt from the video: "The prevailing sentiment…was that the revolver are kind of like the every man gun. It should be the go-to firearm for the average civilian who wants something for personal protection and semi-autos are probably best reserved for more dedicated shooters. These two perspectives might seem pretty incompatible on the surface,...
  • Gutted fish urr Zombie Fish

What happens when you put a gutted, dead fish back in the water? Apparently it swims on its own! Maybe, its like the chicken running around after the head has been chopped off. This video footage of a fish that has been completely gutted and had the meat filleted from its sides and is then dropped back into the water. It is crazy what happens next. While this seems completely crazy, there must be a reasonable explanation. Either the fish was not actually dead, and was just quickly gutted while still alive, or like many animals, its body can continue...
  • Cutting down an Oak tree with Tannerite

After the passing of the family matriarch, the Texas Pawn Boys gathered one last time for a day of shooting on the family property. While celebrating they noticed an old dead oak tree that needed to be removed. Someone had the bright and entertaining idea to see what would happen if Tannerite was used as the primary removal mechanism. They quickly grabbed a chainsaw, some duct tape, and everyone’s favorite explosive to make this memorable ridiculous video. See the full cutting down oak tree tannerite video here.
  • Most Epic Elk Tumble

This giant elk takes epic tumble down the side of steep mountain. It’s rough country. That’s no secret. The hunters who successfully hunt elk are typically well-prepared for the fact that they will face some interesting terrain throughout their endeavors. That may involve spotting and stalking up and down the mountains of Colorado. It may involve spotting scopes and long-range shots in big sky of Montana. Heck, it could mean 20 degrees with a foot of snow one day and 70 degrees the next. Likely, it’ll fall somewhere in between all of those. For these hunters, it meant a long-range...

A 12-year-old making an incredible archery shot on a deer is quite a feat in itself. Now how about that same shot but arrowing two deer with a single shot? This incredible shot was caught on camera as proof. When Dan Cooley was on his first bow hunt at the age of 12 he made a remarkable shot that brought down two deer with only one arrow. Amazing shot Dan, and we hope you enjoy a long life with many hunts ahead. You are well on your way to being a master hunter. See the 2 deer in one bowhunting...

Hunting accidents and injuries happen, but this might be the most painful that we’ve come across. When hunting, there are a lot of things that can go wrong and be very dangerous at times. Safety is very important, and we emphasize that importance to younger generations when bringing them up in the outdoors. Many products are sold to help hunters be proactive so bad things don’t happen, but of course accidents still happens. This is one of those accidents. The man in this story suffered one of the most painful injuries from a hunting related-accident we have ever seen, and...
  • The Henry Arms .45-70 Lever Action Rifle – Gun Review

Here's a review of the Henry Arms .45-70 Lever Action Rifle, and it didnÂ’t disappoint. This big game rifle was born to hunt. I gave the Henry Arms .45-70 Lever Action Rifle thorough testing, and here is what I found. The great folks at Henry Repeating Arms sent me over a blued-steel Model H010 Lever Action Rifle in the big-game-dropping .45-70 caliber. I had Henry Arms deliver it to my good friend Steve over at Silverado Arms Gunshop. Steve and the great folks over at the shop always make it a pleasant visit with many temptations to my wallet. Now...

An absolute giant of moose goes down in Alaska. Israel Payton may have his hands on the new world record moose. World record animals being harvested always gain a lot of attention. Of course, a moose is not going to catch the attention that a world record whitetail would, but a record is sure to turn some heads. And the news of a new world record moose being broke is doing just that. Israel Payton, an Alaskan, may have just harvested the world record moose with a successful hunt on this whopping bull. It is said the bull is coming...
  • How many Rounds do I need for Concealed Carry?

Some concealed carrier that are into “comfort carry” will usually carry a pistol with a single stack vs a dual stack (more capacity). Getting back to the title of this article, its not about just having lots of ammo, but the situation requires that you may need it. Plus the idea of using a gun for self defense is not to kill your attacker, but to make them stop attacking. Now we are back to the original question, how many rounds do you need to stop an attacker? According to Massad Ayoob he states: switch from 5-6 round revolvers to...
  • Slow Motion of this Crazy Muzzleloader Explosion

    Am Shooting Journal | 10/3/2017 | C Bailey
Social media has a way of spreading viral content like a wild fire in a desert. And this video of the exploding muzzleloader on the range is gaining a lot of attention. It is a pretty insane video. The shooter should consider himself very lucky that things didn’t end any worse than it already did. The slow motion clip makes the video all the more frightening and crazy. I’m still not sure what caused it, and we don’t want to speculate on anything without knowing details. All we know is that things like this happen, and when they do, you...

Wolves have often been feared and loathed by people. While some agrarian and hunter-gatherer societies held them in high regard, keepers of cattle, goats, and sheep felt very differently. In folklore, this apex predator is often pictured lurking in the forest waiting for its next victim, sometimes devious enough to dress up as someone’s grandmother! In fact, attacks on humans are very uncommon and usually involve a wolf with rabies. Wolves are closely related to dogs but are nearly impossible to domesticate. While out in the woods of Wisconsin, John Oens saw a great big timber wolf with its paw...

Homemade or DIY guns come in all shapes and sizes. Intrepid basement-workshop gunsmiths try to make their own for various reasons. These 11 homemade guns sadly missed the mark completely. I’ll go easy on you with this first one. Would it shoot? Probably and it might even have some potential but it can also go wrong. Homemade guns held together by duct tape are all the rage these days…Well that’s interesting…This homemade Brazilian shotgun pistol is ready for some bad business for sure. Would it hold up if actually shot? That looks like a major kaboom waiting for anyone foolish enough...
  • A Silencer on a Muzzleloader is not a Gun

SilencerCo's Maxim 50 suppressed muzzleloader caused a hoot on the internet. A gun with a silencer that doesn’t require ANY paperwork? One that can be MAILED to a buyer’s house, WITHOUT A BACKGROUND CHECK? Yup, pretty much. CNN reports that the Maxim 50 has the ATF’s blessing . . Silencers are subject to federal gun control laws that are more restrictive than for most guns. They are treated like machine guns, requiring a more intensive background check that takes months to process, with a $200 tax. But muzzleloaders are not subject to federal gun control laws because they use antiquated...

Want a new AR, but can’t afford it? No problem. Just collect soda cans and make one. Everybody loves getting new guns. Unfortunately for some of us, they are just aren’t in the budget. If you don’t have the cash for a new AR, you can always just start collecting soda cans. No, you don’t sell the cans; you melt them down and make your own AR. This guy is dedicated and pays attention to detail. After all the time and effort put into making an AR out of aluminum cans, you could probably buy one several times over, but...
