This is the very first recording of the song "Hey Joe", ever made. Is is a home demo recording by the song's writer, Billy Roberts. The song has a long and complicated history regarding it's authorship, but this is the absolute first version ever recorded, in 1961/62, as a favor to Billy Roberts friend Barry Friedman. I received a CDR copy of this ree-to-reel tape in the early 2000's from Billy then lawyer/manager. I have edited together some historical footage of prisoners from the 30's and 40's to aid the song visually, as the images seem to fit the tone...

"Quite a few of your English students are prostitutes," a friend told me today as she recounted a conversation that she had with her hair stylist recently. "The guy who cut my hair told me that many of your training center's female students come to him two or three times a week to get their hair done before they go to work." She went on to explain that according to the hair stylist, some of my students sell their bodies at night in local hotels where there might be as many as 200 prostitutes gathered in one establishment. Other students...

Police Are Looking For Husban, A Trained Sniper (CBS News) CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- A woman was shot and killed early Saturday while she sang with a band at a restaurant and bar, police said. They were looking for her estranged husband, a National Guardsman who they said had sniper training. Robin Munis was shot in the head with one gunshot that came from outside the Old Chicago restaurant where she had been performing just after midnight, Cheyenne police Capt. Jeff Schulz said. "He fired from outside the bar, she was killed inside the bar," Schulz told CBS affiliate KGWN. No...

AS THE SEEMINGLY ENDLESS SPIDERWEB OF LIES SPUN BY former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV unravels, the media has gone out of its way to question the credibility of…Karl Rove. Despite Rove’s demonstrable non-leak of Valerie Plame’s non-secret identity, the dogs continue to gather, hungry for a second term scandal, while the Wilsons’ blatant self-promotion erodes whatever basis they had for a story in the first place. Perhaps Joe Wilson’s two biggest whoppers were his claim to have spoken out because of his deep, non-partisan commitment to “truth,” and his inconsolable remorse that his wife’s closely guarded anonymity had become...

WASHINGTON - Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., revealed Friday that two years ago he discussed the blown cover of CIA operative Valerie Plame with then CIA director George Tenet and that Tenet "was furious." Tenet promptly called the Justice Department to demand an investigation into who in the Bush administration leaked Plame's identity to columnist Robert Novak, Schumer said at a hearing held by House and Senate Democrats. Novak revealed Plame's identity in July 2003 in a column in which he said she played a key role in having her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, sent to Niger to investigate...

An interesting post by Cliff May: "This morning, I have a piece up elsewhere on NRO showing that The Nation’s David Corn--not syndicated columnist Bob Novak--was the first to reveal that Valerie Plame was an undercover operative. It further suggests that David did so based on information provided to him by none other than Joseph C. Wilson IV. While working on that piece, I had an exchange with David and, with his permission, I thought I’d share that with you. Dear David: I have a question--one you may not be willing to answer but I’m curious so let me try:...
  • If you, gentlemen, really want “to see US politics from another angle” (We get signal)

If you, gentlemen, really want “to see US politics from another angle”, compare it with politics of present-day totalitarian regimes in Central Asia, for instance. And you’ll realize that there are practically no differences for our “democratic” state and e.g. authoritarian government in Turkmenistan. It’s common knowledge that Turkmen authorities abridge liberty of speech, freedom of the press, exercising control over mass and I-net. They bow down, imposing restrictions on freedom of association and assembly, in order to curtail political activity of non-governmental organizations, including groups of religious minorities. Nijazov does it with the aim of exercising control over latitude...
