Heated Discussion (Smoky Backroom)

Every generation is perceived as weaker than the one that bore them. There is some truth to that, but there are acceptable reasons for the decline in physical strength. First off I do not and most likely never will work as hard as my father did and I know I never came close to how hard my grandfather worked. The truth is I never wanted to physically work as hard as my Grandpa Edgar did. He was a dirt poor share cropper in north Missouri who lost his entire crop in 1934 and 1936. There were no tractors to do...

Pamela Anderson is speaking out against pornography. “This is a public hazard of unprecedented seriousness given how freely available, anonymously accessible and easily disseminated pornography is nowadays,” she penned in a joint op-ed with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach in Thursday’s Wall Street Journal. The unlikely pair wrote the piece in the wake of Anthony Weiner‘s latest sext scandal, in which he was caught sending a crotch shot in the presence of his young son.

Until that moment on Fox News, Jessica Disu hadn't considered herself a police abolitionist. But on July 11, she was on national television, surrounded by 29 other people convened by Megyn Kelly to discuss the recent killings of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and several Dallas police officers. "I was under the impression that it would be a robust and productive conversation, even though it was Fox News," says 27-year-old Disu, who identifies herself as a "humanitarian rap artist and peace activist" and is involved with various organizations serving youth on the south side. She prepared her message before going on...

I think the Saudi goose is getting cooked. Folks, the following has been going on in Saudi Arabia. The ground war has now come inside Saudi Arabia. Yemeni forces are poised around Najran. Since June this year the US has steadily been cutting off arms, bombs, weapons and support to the Saudi aggression on Yemen. The US has cancelled a tank deal to replace Abrams tanks destroyed by the Yemenis. Resupply of cluster bombs have also been cancelled. Now military advisors have been withdrawn from Saudi Arabia. Here is the news :

Four years before Hillary Clinton became the first woman to mathematically capture a major U.S. political party’s presidential nomination, a staff member on Rick Santorum’s 2012 presidential campaign posed a question in an email that shocked many people: “Is it God’s highest desire, that is, his biblically expressed will, … to have a woman rule the institutions of the family, the church, and the state?” God’s will or not, in 2016, it’s all that much closer to coming to fruition. Clinton is poised to be nominated for president by the Democratic Party next week. And so religious hard-liners of all...

Members of the National African American Reparations Commission (NAARC) were enthusiastically received in Atlanta June 10th and 11th for two days of meetings, designed to intensify the movement to win reparations for African Americans for centuries of enslavement and generations of damaging discriminatory policies. The primary purpose for the gathering was to give people from the Atlanta area and region an opportunity to hear and make recommendations on the Commission’s Preliminary 10 Point Reparations Program -which was presented at a Community Hearing and Town Hall Meeting at the historic Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC). “People of African descent have no reason...

It started as an idea for my live show; something I’d like to wear onstage. I had just finished reading about the clash between Antifa Protesters and Neo-Nazis in Sacramento this June, and was thinking about the common goals of Antifa groups and more traditional organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center. Between Britain’s ‘Leave’ Campaign and Donald Trump’s Presidential bid, it’s safe to say racists and White Nationalists around the world are being emboldened and given a voice like no other time in recent memory. What used to be said behind closed doors is now being said to millions...

NH Public Health Association board president says validated research shows that white privilege and oppression manifests itself everywhere. CONCORD, NH - #BlackLivesMatter. Yes, all lives matter, but really, #BlackLivesMatter. Because white Americans have not been subject to the institutional racism that was mixed into the mortar that holds together the bricks of our country’s foundation. Because being white means we have the luxury of avoiding long-term health effects of the toxic stress caused by institutional racism. Submitted by Katie Robert for the New Hampshire Public Health Association. By saying #AllLivesMatter, we diminish our neighbors of colors’ lived experience. This experience...

On July 4, 1776, the United States announced its independence from Great Britain based on the key principle of rule of law. On July 5, 2016, the United States said, “F*** it. I’m With Hillary!” Just days after the Attorney General of the United States Loretta Lynch held a secret meeting aboard a plane with former President Bill Clinton – whose wife was under FBI investigation; just the day after Hillary leaked that she’d want Lynch for her own administration; just hours after the President of the United States Barack Obama flew Hillary – still under FBI investigation – down...

This is just a smoky backroom vanity. Gays have been courted by the Democratic Party for years, with rhetoric, rainbow flags, celebrities, and special rights. But what is the most valuable right? Their right to life. It is here that the Democratic Party, led by Obama and Hillary, have let them down the most. Special rights... such as calling a gay union marriage, or persecuting bakers or photographers to force them to serve gays in ways they find wrong... are big carrots the Democratic Party has held in front of them. But, when the chips are down, and a bunch...

It was the third such ‘honour killing’ in as many monthsA teenager was burnt alive by her mother on Wednesday after marrying a man of her own choice, Pakistani police said. Golly, mightn’t this play hob with the accusation that Donald Trump is the one inciting riots? Vox’s “deputy first person editor” Emmet Rensin took to Twitter last night to declare that, since Trump is a racist and a fascist (in Rensin’s opinion, at least), then all forms of violence short of murder have become completely legitimate. I wonder whether the mayor of San Diego might rethink his blame-throwing for yesterday’s violence from a leftist mob after this:(TWEET-AT-LINK)So …. who exactly is the fascist in this scenario? The Week’s Michael Dougherty seemed to wonder that himself, asking Rensin what exactly he...

The New York bar known as the birthplace of the gay pride movement could become the country's first national monument honoring LGBT rights under a plan to be considered by President Barack Obama. The Stonewall Inn in Manhattan's Greenwich Village was the site of a 1969 police raid that touched off riots and ignited a long struggle to bring lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people into the mainstream and guarantee their rights. A year after the Stonewall riots, activists staged the country's first gay rights parade. The event has evolved into LGBT Pride Month, which begins Wednesday, with parades and...

Transgender people are not mentally ill. Being transgender is not a mental disorder. And anyone who argues otherwise is directly contradicting current medical consensus. These lines of anti-transgender argumentation were already common before the March passage of North Carolina’s HB 2, which requires transgender people to use public bathrooms matching their birth certificates. For instance, when Caitlyn Jenner came out last year, conservative blogger Matt Walsh called her a “mentally ill cross-dresser” on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze. A long list of right-wing media outlets and pundits have echoed the “mental illness” language: The Federalist, Breitbart, TownHall, Rush Limbaugh, the list...

It’s About Us I turn 56 in a few weeks and I’ve never even bothered to register to vote before because I’ve always suspected something that so many people are finding out to be true this year; that we do not live in an authentic democracy and haven’t for a very long time. Don’t judge me for this, I’ve been disenfranchised as long as I can remember. We assassinated our own president in 1963, I lost friends from my high school in Vietnam, Nixon was a blatant crook and I’ve never felt there was ever a candidate that represented me...

Jill Stein, who is seeking the Green Party nomination for President, said that President Obama should apologize during his trip to Hiroshima for the use of nuclear weapons against Japan by pledging nuclear disarmament. Dr. Stein also urged Obama to listen to the testimony of the survivors of the nuclear attack, who have dedicated their lives to the elimination of nuclear weapons so that no one else should ever experience the hell on earth they survived. "The existence of nuclear weapons threatens the survival of humanity. I pledge to eliminate all such weapons as an urgent priority," stated Stein. Despite...
