It’s a pattern that’s almost algorithmic by now. Hateful graffiti or messages are used to deface a public place. Outrage ensues. Liberals publicly flog conservatives — especially those who support former President Donald Trump. The guilty party turns out to be someone diametrically opposed to conservative ideology. There was a bit of a deviation from the norm after the arrest of a man who allegedly sprayed swastikas on the entrance Union Station in Washington, D.C.’s, one day after Holocaust Remembrance Day. Usually, these things are the work of hoax artists. In this case, it turns out to be a Hispanic...

New York City has been blighted by graffiti leaving some areas of the Big Apple 'looking like war zones' reminiscent of the 1970s and 1980s, leading to a barrage of vandalism complaints. The explosion of graffiti has left parts of New York City looking like it did in the 70s and 80s, before CCTV cameras acted as a deterrent and clean-up initiatives were...

Officials at Zion National Park are grappling with unprecedented amounts of graffiti throughout the park as visitors continue to flock to the canyon. Fagergren said that rangers are dealing with a twofold problem as they try to manage the graffiti. First, the park is seeing a new type of visitor, one who may have never visited a national park before and may only be venturing out as a result of being cooped up due to the pandemic. They are different visitors than we normally get,” Fagergren said, adding that many of them don’t have the same affinity for public lands...

A 5th-century chalice covered in religious iconography has been discovered in Northumberland, to the astonishment of archaeologists, who describe it as Britain’s first known example of Christian graffiti on an object. With its complex mass of crosses and chi-rhos, angels and a priestly figure, as well as fish, a whale and ships, it is believed to be without parallel in western Europe. Made of lead and now in 14 fragments, it was unearthed at the Vindolanda Roman fort, one of Europe’s foremost archaeological sites, near Hadrian’s Wall, during an excavation that has also discovered the foundations of a significant church...
