Wisconsin’s dairy industry is calling for federal help as farmers have begun dumping milk because of falling demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite empty grocery store shelves in recent weeks, widespread closures of schools and restaurants — coupled with falling exports — have led to a sharp drop in demand. This is without precedent,” said John Umhoefer, executive director of the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association. “Half the restaurants in the U.S. are closed or operating at a reduced level. That has never happened before.” With more than they can sell, processors are refusing to pick up milk from farmers, who...

The White House says the changes could save $214 billion over a decade. “The Budget proposes to combine the traditional retail-based SNAP electronic benefit with the direct provision of nutritious and 100 percent American-grown USDA Foods to participating households. This cost-effective proposal maintains our commitment to helping needy families avoid hunger while generating substantial savings,” the budget said. Households receiving $90 per month or more would get a portion in shelf-stable milk, ready to eat cereals, pasta, peanut butter, beans and canned fruit, vegetables, and meat, poultry or fish. The remainder of the benefit would go onto the debit card...

Washington has stepped in to tackle America’s cheese mountain with the Federal government buying 11 million pounds of the surplus. It has cost the American taxpayer $20 million (£15 million), the US Department of Agriculture said. The cheese will be distributed to food banks across the country. There are several reasons for the cheese mountain in the US. Farmers had boosted production when they were getting record prices. But thanks to the strength of the dollar, demand has slumped, creating a huge cheese surplus which has reached a 30-year high. Cheese has been a source of tension between the United...

Twenty million dollars worth of cheese. That's how much of the good stuff the federal government plans to buy to ease America's massive cheese surplus. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced this week it will purchase the nearly 11 million pounds of cheese for "private inventories." Before you get too excited about government-funded grilled cheese sandwiches, that means the cheese will go to food banks and charity groups around the country.

A North Charleston homeowner is facing charges after officials say he was operating an illegal homeless shelter at the property. The Post and Courier of Charleston reports North Charleston officials say 51-year-old Cyrus Kamini was charged Monday with operating a business without a license, operating an unsafe dwelling and not having permits for work done on the site. Officials boarded up the 1,500-square-foot home owned by Kamini that was divided into as many as eight units.

This is part 1 of a series of episodes I am doing on the Seattle homeless crisis. It illustrates perfectly the problems with big government, the insanity of liberals and the great lengths these red diaper doper baby liberal degenerates will go to get a free lunch off the backs of those who earn their lunch by their own sweat and tears. This first episode is a prologue of sorts, at focus is the failure of Olympia and city hall in particular a taxpayer funded program, The committee to end homelessness in King county that has gotten little attention but...

Shotguns and rifles bring $50 credit each, while pistols and assault-type weapons fetch $100 apiece. Participants must place the weapons,...

If you are foolish enough to answer truthfully on an application for state assistance, do not despair. The state has thought of that, and does not discriminate against the foolish; you will likely be given multiple opportunities to lie, and you will eventually get your fair share. Always remember that it is best to consult your state and federal poverty guidelines before you subjectively determine what you can or cannot afford. The numbers do not lie, even if you have to lie to fall within them. Please allow me to repeat that: there are state and federal poverty guidelines. Allow...

On Christmas Eve, I, my three small children, and my wife, who works the graveyard shift at a truck stop to supplement our meager income, visited our local Kroger store to pick up a loaf of frozen garlic bread to go with dinner. I refrain from writing much about myself in this blog, as it seems somewhat egotistic to assume anyone would want to read about my personal life. However, on this particular night, we ended up checking out behind a group of ladies. Their hair was newly done, obviously at a salon. Each of them had had their fingernails...

State creates or retains 8,284 jobs with stimulus funds By Patrick Marley of the Journal Sentinel Posted: Oct. 13, 2009 2:00 p.m. Madison — Wisconsin state government has used federal economic stimulus money to create or retain 8,284 jobs in Wisconsin, mostly by saving public-sector jobs. A brief report released Tuesday by Gov. Jim Doyle provided details on money spent by state government, but did not cover funds awarded directly to local governments and the University of Wisconsin System. Those numbers will be made public later. More than 6,100 jobs for police officers, teachers and other government workers were retained...

I dont get it. I keep hearing from people that welfare is immoral and wasteful when it helps so many people who would die without it. I also hear some of them talking about giving money to charities such as the salvation army and the like. Everyone has a right to live, that means the right to freedom, a job, a car and a home. No one should be forced to live without any of those. I was homeless for a year before a went on welfare. They helped me get a job and a home and I dont need...

Life long republican - Drive by troll
All my life, I believed in Republican values -- individual responsibility and limited government. Then it happened; I found myself with a small child, unemployed and disabled. I turned to my church, and after years of regular tithes, suddenly I just wasn't their problem. My Republican friends? I was now a pariah to them. My only relief was to turn to government assistance for housing, food, and other needs and I was able to survive with dignity. So chalk me up as one who no longer drinks the GOP koolaid.

You all read about that girl down in southern California who got an F on her final term paper because she used the word "God" in a term paper about religion which her teacher has assigned the students to write? He had warned them not to use that word. The town is just east of Los Angeles. I want to call it Velveeta, but it probably isn't exactly that.

Ronald Reagan did some fine things, but the economic theory that bears his name was not one of them. Reaganomics made the world safe for today's reckless tax-cutting. And the public hardly understands the social upheaval these policies will soon unleash. Reaganomics held that cutting taxes and reducing the size of government would let loose the nation's entrepreneurial juices and lead to economic growth. Note that the theory comes in two parts. The fun part is cutting taxes. The not-so-fun part is reducing government. Do the first part without the second, and you end up with budget deficits and an...
  • Sloganmaster Jesse Jackson: "We Need Duh Cheese" (Government Cheese Needed For Protest)

Actually, Jesse couldn't give a rat's ass unless it's FOR Jesse. It's the DC Chapter that will put it to good use. To be used in an upcoming protest, a block of government cheese, in it's cardboard carton and plastic wrapper is requested. In lieu of that, just the cardboard box would be fine. Please send me a FReep Mail before you send anything, so we don't wind up with more than we need. By Feb 20th, send your "donation" for this effort to: DC Chapter of Free Republic P.O. Box 65165 Washington, D.C. 20035-5165 Thank you.
