Skook's Dogs of Conscience Many people have an overwhelming desire to belong and identify with groups that offer exclusivity. Some of us want to identify with exclusive country clubs and others choose the religion of a science fiction writer, whose church, the Church Of Scientology offers the secrets and knowledge of the church for a price, Yes, for thousands of dollars, the church and its theological justification reads like a science fiction novel, and you can be a cowboy as well. From a 2003 Speech by Michael Chrichton: There’s an initial Eden, a paradise, a state of grace and unity...

Saying he had been vindicated by science after being labelled a “crank" for his views years ago, he warned the human race was “pushing nature beyond her limits”. “If we go on as we are the impact of these scarcities and declines on human societies...

Al Gore's Current TV is up for sale. According to the New York Post, there has been enough interest in the television channel nobody watches let alone heard of that CEO Joel Hyatt has decided to shop around for offers. “Current has been approached many times by media companies interested in acquiring our company,” Hyatt told the Post. He's apparently had three inquiries. "As a consequence," said Hyatt, "we thought it might be useful to engage expertise to help us evaluate our strategic options.” A source told the Post the network is interviewing numerous investment banks but still hasn't...

Back in August, the Left went bonkers over a story alleging that coal miners were forced by their employer to protest against President Obama. At the time,HuffPo, MotherJones, etc. all ran with that version of events. Well, the miners have responded. Five hundred of them have written to the president asking him to stop lying in his campaign ads. Via The Intelligencer/Wheeling News-Register: BEALLSVILLE – Coal miners at the American Energy Corp. Al Gore has said some things which have been lampooned over the years, but his speculation on why Mitt Romney seemed to dominate the debate last night has garnered more critics than usual. “I’m going to say something controversial here,” Gore said. “Obama arrived in Denver at 2 pm today, just a few hours before the debate started. Romney did his debate prep in Denver. When you go to 5,000 feet and you only have a few hours to adjust, I don’t know.” Of course, people have been having a field day with it, and Twitter is all aflutter.

After a pathetic debate performance, liberals are no longer so confident that Barack Obama is a lock for re-election. Until the showdown on stage in Denver, liberals had been quite confident their man would prevail, citing battleground state polls that favored the President. Seems they popped the champagne bottles too early as new polls show Romney received a bump from his strong showing in the first debate.

Florida is one of several states in which some races in this fall's election may come into dispute because of provisional ballots. A provisional ballot is used to record a vote when there are questions in regards to a given voter's eligibility. "In a close election, all eyes are going to be on those provisional ballots, and those same canvassing boards that were looking at pregnant chads and hanging chads back in 2000," said Daniel Smith, a political scientist at the University of Florida. "It's a potential mess.

Gore seeks November splash with eventBy Ben Geman - 09/23/12 03:35 PM ET Al Gore hopes to show links between climate change and the effects of extreme weather worldwide with an online and social media-fueled event built around the idea of “dirty weather.” Gore’s advocacy group, the Climate Reality Project, announced Sunday that its second multi-media “24 Hours of Reality” event will occur Nov. 14-15 and bear the title “The Dirty Weather Report.” “We are in a new era where the . . . extreme weather that is occurring is not fully caused by the natural cycles of time and...

- At 5:00 p.m. on September 11, 2001, an ashen-faced but composed President Al Gore stepped into the East Room of the White House to deliver a televised address to the nation. With him were former presidents Clinton and Bush, as well as Texas governor George W. Bush—flown to Washington from Dallas on a military jet, his first visit back to the capital after the close race that lost him the presidency just months before.

Where's Al Gore? By: Andrew Restuccia September 5, 2012 04:30 AM EDT CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In 2008, Al Gore strode onto the stage at Denver’s Invesco Field to a hero's welcome, throwing his support behind Barack Obama to take on the "global climate crisis." When Obama takes the stage this week, Gore will be nowhere in sight. He isn’t coming to the Democratic National Convention but is spending the week in New York City, anchoring coverage of the event for his network Current TV. Gore's evolution over the past four years — from a central figure in the Democratic Party...

Former vice president Al Gore is calling for an end to the Electoral College — the system that cost him the presidency in 2000. Gore said that many voters who live outside the dozen or so battleground states are cheated by the system that allocates delegates from the state level on a winner-take-all basis. He called for presidential elections to be determined by the popular vote.

This is a somewhat famous campaign speech from Al Gore in 1992 that seems more relevant today than it was in 1992. He starts out telling his supporters to imagine how they'd feel if they woke up on a cold November morning, opened up their newspapers and read "Four More Years" (of George H.W. Bush). Then he goes into his riff which I am trying to transcribe here: Unemployment around the country has gone up. The number of jobs has gone down. The trade deficit has gone up. Personal income has gone down. The budget deficit has gone up. The...

Norton reports that cybercrime is costing the global economy $338 billion a year, overtaking a still a lucrative trade in the underground drugs market. For every second that goes by, 19 people worldwide fall victim to some form of online crime, most commonly social network hacking and credit card fraud. The report suggests that more than 69 percent, at two-thirds of online adults, have fallen victim to cybecrime; a figure that is still on the rise. Symantec, the anti-virus maker who issued the report, noted that it takes U.S. authorities nearly twice as long to resolve cybercrime than its British...

State pension fund managers you can relax now: Al Gore is here. Gore wants to put your retirement savings in green energy. He does not want to tell us what companies or how much. Just last month it was revealed that Al Gore’s investment company has been managing assets for New York state and city pension funds for three years. Pension fund officials say Al is doing a great job. But they refuse to tell us where Gore is putting the money. The news of Gore’s involvement in state pension funds comes the same week several research reports surfaced that...

Rings in fossilised pine trees have proven that the world was much warmer than previously thought - and the earth has been slowly COOLING for 2,000 years. Measurements stretching back to 138BC prove that the Earth is slowly cooling due to changes in the distance between the Earth and the sun. The finding may force scientists to rethink current theories of the impact of global warming. It is the first time that researchers have been able to accurately measure trends in global temperature over the last two millennia. Over that time, the world has been getting cooler - and previous...
