Rep. Louie Gohmert, in a congressional hearing, challenged a minister who is president of the Americans United for Separation of Church and State, to clarify his Christian beliefs — especially because the group is frequently at the heart of atheist-type attacks on public shows of faith. “I’m curious, in your Christian beliefs, do you believe in sharing the good news that will keep people from going to hell, consistent with the Christian belief?” Mr. Gohmert asked the Rev. Barry Lynn, during a House Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice hearing, The Blaze reported. Mr. Lynn’s reply: “I wouldn’t agree...

Will John Boehner’s House Speakership be able to survive the 2014 midterm elections? Even if Republicans retain control control of the chamber, one member of the Boehner’s is fairly certain the answer is “no.” During an appearance on Sean Hannity’s radio show Wednesday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) predicted that come January, the House will have a new Republican in charge. Gohmert reminded Hannity that he was the one Republican who nominated someone other than Boehner for speaker last year, while actually Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) joined him in voting for Allen West, who was kicked out of office after one...

The disappearing act known as the congressional Fast and Furious investigation made a brief return to the stage recently when U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder became unhinged during questioning by Representative Louis Gohmert (R). The trigger for his defiance was the mention by Rep. Gohmert of possible contempt charges over the Fast and Furious scandal. The AG’s admonition of “Don’t go there buddy,” started discussion as to why Holder reacted in such a strong manner. Sure, he’s hiding something, or someone, but are the White House, ATF, and the AG the only players? -SNIP- And my personal favorite: …a 22-year-old...

Under current law, lawful permanent residents (LPRs) are eligible to volunteer to serve in the United States military. If they pass the strict qualification requirements applicable to all who seek to serve, they can serve in the armed forces of the United States, and once they are in the armed forces, they may apply for expedited consideration for U.S. citizenship, which is granted on a routine basis. Now, however, some in Congress are looking to provide a backdoor to instant citizenship for unlawful immigrants who are brought to the U.S. as minors—also known as “DREAMers,” after the Development, Relief, and...

The timing is impeccable: A dozen famed conservatives with liberty, tradition and smaller government on their minds gather a mere 72 hours before Tax Day dawns. That would be the Freedom Summit on Saturday, a daylong showcase organized by Americans for Prosperity and Citizens United, staged in Manchester, the most bustling town in New Hampshire.

"I have been proud to stand along side of you in supporting efforts to advance the cause of justice that has always been at the center of this , this administrations work I am pleased to note that the last five years have been defined by significant strides and lasting reforms, even in the face, even in the face, of unprecedented, unwarranted ugly adversity. And if you don't believe that, you look at the way ...forget about me... forget about me , you look at the way the Attorney General of the Untied States was treated yesterday by a House...

Following on my posts and a Breitbart story, the House Republican leadership plan to embed an amnesty (for illegals who join the military) in the defense authorization bill has fallen apart. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, who’d co-sponsored one of the free-standing bills that would likely have been attached to the defense measure, withdrew his name from the bill and wrote that “I will not allow Washington to pull their sneaky tricks on the public.”

WASHINGTON – One of the tea-party leaders in Congress believes the days of Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, as speaker of the House of Representatives are numbered. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, told WND he predicts Boehner will no longer be speaker “by next January,” regardless of the outcome of the midterm election in November. The Texan doesn’t think it will take a coup to remove Boehner, believing the tide is already moving in that direction, and saying, “I think people are ready for a change.” And Gohmert would see that as a change for the better, because, he says, “We’ve got...

The guest list for President Obama’s upcoming State of the Union address just got more interesting. Yesterday, Sean Hannity said he’d be attending as a guest of Rep. Louie Gohmert. Hannity is a conservative pundit for Fox News. He’s had Gohmert, an outspoken critic of Obama, on his show a number of times. The Tyler Republican has even filled in hosting Hannity’s show on a few occasions. Turns out, Hannity may have his own political ambitions in the Lone Star state. “The answer is yes, I’d think about it,” Hannity said when a viewer asked via Twitter about his inclination...

WASHINGTON — Lots of conservative lawmakers hate Obamacare. Rep. Louie Gohmert is putting his money where his mouth is. The Tyler Republican gave up his health insurance for 2014, asserting that the president’s signature health care law, the Affordable Care Act, has made coverage too expensive. “Other people are going to see what I did when I looked into health insurance for my wife and me: that the deductible rate, it doubled, about $3,000 to $6,000, and our policy was going to go from about $300 to about $1,500 a month,” he said during a recent radio interview with Trey...

MYRTLE BEACH—Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) called on grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers across the country to organize and fight back against the GOP establishment’s efforts to stamp out the movement during his speech to the South Carolina Tea Party Convention here on Sunday morning. Gohmert argued that conservatives need a ground game and an organized strategy to stop House Speaker John Boehner, Karl Rove, and the Chamber of Commerce from destroying the Tea Party movement. He rendered a lengthy quote from the infamous scene in the classic movie Animal House, where Bluto riles up the fraternity to fight back against...

Do you ever have those moments when you feel validated? I had one of those moments this morning. Finally someone is talking about the secret security force that is mandated by Obamacare. Representative Louie Gohmert (Republican – Texas – 1st District) dropped his bombshell last week on The Janet Mefferd Show. Paul Joseph Watson reports: Referring to a section of the gargantuan Obamacare law which discusses “the president’s own commissioned and non-commissioned officer corps,” Gohmert drew attention to the notion that under the pretext of a “national emergency,” such individuals could be used to impose some form of medical martial...

John McCain took a swipe at Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert in an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams Wednesday night. During the interview, Williams brought up a statement Gohmert made last week at the Values Voter Summit claiming that the Republican Arizona senator supports al Qaida. Speaking at an event at the conservative conference, Gohmert referred to McCain as a “guy who’s been to Syria and supported al Qaida and rebels.” McCain told Williams that it isn’t worth responding to someone who “has no intelligence.” “Sometimes… comments like that are made out of malice, but if someone has no intelligence...

[With video] Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert got into a tense back-and-forth Saturday with Fox New’s Arthel Neville over who is to blame for the partial government shut down and the frightening possibility of a debt-ceiling breach. The Republican Congressman insisted that President Barack Obama and his Democrat allies in the U.S. Senate are responsible for the current mess in the nation’s capital. [SNIIP] The Fox News anchor wasn’t satisfied with Rep. Gohmert’s analysis. “You’re not saying that either, Congressman?” Neville said. “Let’s have some honest talk here.” The Congressman repeated that it’s the Democrats, especially Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid,...

The Republican party is currently in the middle of a civil war of sorts, between moderate Republicans leery of tactics like defunding Obamacare and tea party conservatives sticking to their guns, crystallized by Louie Gohmert saying at the Values Voters Summit that John McCain “supported al-Qaeda.” Gohmert took a swipe at his Senate colleague, who has been highly critical of Republicans pushing for Obamacare defunding, even suggesting2 they should be held “accountable” for lying to the GOP. That didn’t sit too well with Gohmert.

Senator Claire McCaskill (D., Mo.) said this morning that legislators present at the World War II memorial who didn’t have veterans from their states present were merely playing politics. “There’s people here who have nothing to do,” McCaskill said this morning at the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. ”They’re just trying to score a political point.” When asked by CNS News if they were attempting to grandstand, McCaskill answered that “it appears that they are,” but did not single out any legislators by name. Earlier this morning, World War II veterans entered the memorial for the second time...

...Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota joined fellow tea partying Reps. Louie Gohmert, sadly of Texas, and Steve King of Iowa on a trip to Egypt, where they praised the restoration of military dictatorship and the overthrow of a democratically elected government... Bachmann didn’t just stop with that misportrayal of American values. She somehow managed to confuse Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood with the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks (Afghanistan-based al-Qaeda for those who don’t remember), and congratulated Egypt’s military leader for holding them at bay. “We have seen the threat that the Muslim Brotherhood has posed around the world. We stand against...

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) on Thursday called for criminal penalties against Lois Lerner, the former director of exempt organizations at the IRS, for lying to Congress about her involvement in the IRS targeting scandal. Gohmert read an op-ed from The Wall Street Journal today that outlines various emails the House Ways and Means Committee was able to secure from Lerner. The committee obtained the emails weeks after she testified to Congress that lower-level employees in Cincinnati were responsible for targeting groups based on their political affiliation, which resulted in lengthy delays for conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. Lerner's emails, which...
