    National Review ^ | 12/16/2014 | Dennis Prager
I have been devoting my columns this month to the Ten Commandments because we need a fixed moral anchor to solve the problem of evil. And nothing is as effective as the Ten Commandments. Two weeks ago PragerUniversity.com released eleven five-minute video courses — one for each commandment and an introduction. The series has received over 2 million views. Everything needed to make a good world is contained in these Ten Commandments. Whatever your faith, or if you have no faith, I invite you to watch the videos at www.prageru.com. They are cleverly animated with text and graphics. Here is...

My father, James W. Bryan III 74, was in the hospital for dehydration. This morning at 10 AM he had a pulmonary embolus. Luckily he was very well oxygenated and was sent to ICU immediately. TPA anticoagulant was introduced and he is responding well to blood pressure medicine. Precedex given. working good. May have to increase. He is responding well to all medications. Thank you for your prayers and concerns. If you guys don't have an Trust or family plans in these types of events consider this a warning. Luckily we have everything set up should things go south.

Christian Broadcasting Network reporter David Brody has been slowly releasing excerpts from his interview with likely Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson, who has told Brody that liberals are responsible for “hate speech” and that he “feels fingers” from God telling him to make a run for the White House. Today, Brody released another segment from his interview where the conservative activist was joined by his wife, Candy, to describe how God is calling him to make a presidential bid. “We recognize that we are being instruments in the hand of God, he is the one who really orchestrates all of...

"God is good to me, he's bestowed on me a healthy dose of unawareness." Pope Francis, see here. “From the start I said to myself: ‘Jorge, don't change, just keep on being yourself, because to change at your age would be to make a fool of yourself.’” (From the same article). Dr. Dietrich von Hildebrand reminds us that, "The capacity to grasp values, to affirm them, and to respond to them, is the foundation for realizing the moral values of man. Now these marks can be found only in the man who possesses reverence. Reverence is the attitude which can...

Published on American Thinkerby Enza Ferreri I'm not sure how conservative Americans will view the recently-published book Democracy as a Neocon Trick (Amazon USA) (Amazon UK) by Alexander Boot. It’s a very unusual work, in that, whereas critics of America are generally on the Left end of the political spectrum and those on the Right tend to unquestionably defend the “land of the free”, this is a criticism of the US from a non-Leftist viewpoint, indeed from a traditional, conservative, Christian, pre-Enlightenment viewpoint. I don’t agree with everything the author says about America, but he’s such a brilliant philosopher...

by Dave Jolly Disney’s anti-God agenda was made very evident recently when they censored and reprimanded a 10 year old girl just for mentioning God and her church. Lily Anderson of Angier, North Carolina was on the Disney Channel’s website. It was her birthday and she was happily answering questions on the website. When Lily got to the question that asked her what the most important things in her life were, she typed in: “God, my family, my church and my friends.” Responses are posted online for others to read and Lily was excited to let them know that God...

It turns out you can give thanks for a lot of different folks on the Disney Channel website – but you can’t thank God. I received a Facebook message on Sunday from Julie Anderson, of Angier, North Carolina...... Lilly loves the Disney Channel – and as she was browsing the channel’s website she noticed a question. The Disney Channel wanted to know what she was thankful for. So Lilly typed in her answer. “God, my family, my church and my friends,” the 10-year-old wrote. Lilly pressed the return key and waited for her answer to appear on the website. But...

Now is as good a time as any to tell this story, since I’m telling it from the end.  It’s always easier to tell a story from the end, and here’s where mine ends. Today we closed the prayer room. We didn’t officially close it, because the door is still unlocked.  But come Monday, all the furniture, sound system, and security cameras will be picked up and taken away.  Today we removed all that gear and its wiring, and boxed everything up for removal. Rewind to May 14, 2005, 6:18pm.  That’s the date and time stamp of a file on...

Today I read, with interest, the interview that Gawker did about film with Peter H. Gilmore, High Priest of the Church of Satan.... It seems the Church of Satan has a list of recommended films on their website—here it is—and the folks at Gawker got interested in why these films are on the list. Which is a reasonable question, given the list includes some expected picks (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Evilspeak, Nosferatu, Rosemary's Baby) and some unexpected ones (everything from All the King's Men to Bladerunnner to The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate...

In the midst of the American Civil War, Lincoln noted that the country’s industry and population was still growing. In the document officially instituting Thanksgiving as a national holiday, he explicitly credited this to nothing else but God’s grace: "No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy." He then asked everyone in the country “to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of...

Then yet a thousand times more thankful should our people be for this nation’s bounteous wealth, her strength and liberty “Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand. And as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone to many. Let the glorious name of Jehovah have all the praise.” (William Bradford, Governor of Plymouth County, 1621) Thankful they assembled there, A humble Pilgrim band, To praise their God in silent prayer That He should bless their land. It is a sure sign that we are sinners that we tend to be more concerned about what we do than what we are. That is, our guilt or peace oftentimes is the fruit of our own judgment of how often we commit a known sin, less often grounded in what we think and how we feel. I may hate my brother, but if I can keep myself from killing him, well, how bad could I be?In Romans 1 Paul is setting about the business of explaining the universal guilt of men before God. There he answers the telling question,...

Everyone knows my first name. "When I'm walking down the street, people instantly know my relationship to them. And I know they're entrusted to me." A Catholic nun was talking with me about her gratitude for her calling in life. It's not every day, perhaps, that you see a nun walking down the street. Though if you were with me last week, it might have appeared the most natural thing in the world. The scene around me included Sister Antoniana navigating a cart with a slow cooker, a laptop and a large pot of tortellini soup from convent to convent,...

In the face of nearly two dozen videos of him saying he lacked legal authority to unilaterally enact immigration reform, President Obama went ahead and did so, citing a “higher authority.” “As President of the United States, I felt myself hemmed in by the limitations placed on the office by the US Constitution,” Obama admitted. “As a human being, though, I could not bear the continuing injustice inflicted on the people who have entered this country illegally.” “My dilemma was how to reconcile the guidelines of an aging framework for a nation's government and the call of my conscience,” Obama...

Throughout November, The Huffington Post UK is featuring its Beyond Belief series, chronicling those who've taken on faith to create a force for change."You’re the anti-Christ, you will be destroyed,” screamed an incensed heckler during a speech by Barack Obama in June this year. It was not the first time Obama had heard this very pointed line, nor was he the first President to hear it. Anti-Obama rallies are often decorated with signs or t-shirts carrying overtly religious messages, whether it’s likening him to the Devil, demanding that Christian prayers be returned to schools or suggesting that America has a...

God calls for evangelism by sharing His love; Islamic scripture exhorts believers in Allah to inflict pain, suffering and death to infidels Tuesday, November 18, 2014 witnessed another murderous incident in an escalation of a holy war being waged by Muslims in Jerusalem. A synagogue in West Jerusalem was apparently independently targeted by two East Jerusalem men, killing four rabbis holding dual American and British citizenship and one police officer. God Exists – I Can Prove It! Pt. 2 In my last blog post, we pretty much nailed the idea that the universe has a beginning. And if it has a beginning, it must have a Beginner who is omnipotent. In a recent discussion with an atheist, however, I got an interesting retort at this point:Just because there was a “beginning” of this universe of ours, does not mean there could not have been other universes before ours. Moreover, how do you know there are not parallel universes to ours and that ours came from one or more of them? Or,...

God Exists – I Can Prove It! Pt. 1 As a Catholic apologist, I hear way too many sad stories from parents telling of children gone astray. Little Johnny (or little Janey) went off to college and got ”enlightened” as to the truth about God and science. The refrain is repeated: “Science has disproved the existence of God, mom and dad. All that we know or can know exists is what we see in the material universe and that can be scientifically proven. Any notion of ‘spirit’ or a ‘supreme being’ is based purely on emotion and wishful thinking.”The parents are always devastated and often...

Ruth Provencal was terminated last month for saying “God bless you” to voters and other forms of “electioneering,” Renee Routhier, chairman of Derry’s Supervisors of the Checklist, said Saturday.“We have to be politically correct at the polls; I can’t allow certain things to go on because it falls under electioneering,” Routhier said.
