President Trump on Wednesday morning blasted Democrats for "failing" to win Georgia's House special election the night before, framing the upcoming runoff election as a battle between the state and outside interests. "Dems failed in Kansas and are now failing in Georgia," the president tweeted Wednesday. "Great job Karen Handel! It is now Hollywood vs. Georgia on June 20th." . . . The race drew intense outside attention, with a number of celebrities donating to Ossoff's campaign.
  • 'Resist Trump' Is An Expensive Flop In Georgia — Will Dems Drop Another $8 Million On Ossoff?

Politics: The special election held in Georgia on Tuesday was supposed to a blockbuster event showcasing the anti-Trump wave sweeping the nation. Instead, it was an overhyped dud. So sure that Georgians shared their loathing of Donald Trump, Democrats from around the country poured more than $8 million — almost none of which came from people in Georgia's 6th District — into the campaign of 30-year-old political novice Jon Ossoff. Celebrities endorsed him. The media showered him with free publicity. And he was running against 11 Republican candidates. But even with all that support, Ossoff wasn't able to win a...

Heck? Darned? Tom Perez doesn’t work blue on cable TV, especially in the early hours, apparently. “I’d rather be Jon Ossoff right now than Karen Handel,” the DNC chair told Morning Joe earlier today after $8.3 million and a fractured Republican field failed to keep their special-election candidate from a runoff in June. “He’s already at 49% of the vote, and there’s a heck of a lot of energy out there,” Perez bragged after Joe Scarborough questioned the strategy of Democrats in investing heavily in TV spots. Perez pledged full Democratic Party support, saying that they had a “darned good...

RUSH: I want to congratulate Jon Ossoff for his victory in the Georgia special election last night. He called it a victory for the ages. Just such a resounding victory last night for the Democrats and Jon Ossoff, and as a result of this victory, he has to run again. If he did it once, he can do it again. They’ve got a runoff coming up on June the 20th where Ossoff will no doubt humiliate Trump once again. Ossoff will no doubt embarrass and humiliate the Republican Party and the seat of Newt Gingrich and Tom Price once again....
  • US Army base on lockdown, sixty four soldiers busted in cocaine drug ring

Authorities arrested several soldiers at Fort Stewart on Tuesday. The soldiers are believed to have used, had or involved in the sale of cocaine. Officials at the base were reluctant to speak with Popular Military, only offering a small statement in a press release. “We dedicate resources and work closely with our local law enforcement partners to identify and suppress illegal drug use in our ranks,” Maj. Gen. James Rainey, senior commander of Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, said in a news release. An anonymous source at the base told Popular Military that sixty four soldiers from the 3-15 Infantry Battalion...

In the days after Donald Trump was inaugurated in January, liberals in America were depressed, despondent, and asking themselves what to do next. David Nir, the political director of the liberal blog Daily Kos, had an answer and that answer was Jon Ossoff. Nir and the Daily Kos team had been crunching the numbers from Trump’s election since the day after it happened. Which districts did Trump underperform in? Where were the opportunities for Democrats? They quickly noticed that in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, which Mitt Romney won by 23 points in 2012, Trump had won by just a point...

This little race was fun while it lasted, and may have been the most successful jobs program (albeit for journalists) of the Trump presidency. But even if Ossoff had actually won it’s hard to see how this contest was a bellwether for 2018 or much else. Georgia’s sixth district, we keep being reminded, is “ruby red” and hasn’t sent a Democrat to the House since the state’s native son Jimmy Carter was president. But it is also a wealthy suburban Atlanta district in which Trump beat Clinton by barely a single percentage point (as opposed to Mitt Romney crushing Obama...

Please stop being a puppet, continuing democrats' decades of deceiving and exploiting blacks to keep them voting democrat Award winning black actor and civil rights activist Samuel L. Jackson cut a radio ad for the congressional special election in Georgia. Jackson urged Georgia voters to vote democrat to stop racist and sexist Trump. Folks, as an American who happens to be black, I respectfully report that Mr Jackson has a history of delusional thinking in regards to race relations in America. Over the years, Jackson has repeatedly excoriated Americans. Recently, Jackson accused America of being “full of white supremacists” who...

I don’t want to sound like the Baghdad Bob of the 2018 election cycle, but the special election in Georgia’s 6th congressional district was yet another reminder that despite the mainstream media’s relentless narrative attempting to turn the early days of the Trump administration into a story of GOP rout, reality has stubbornly refused to cooperate with them. Don’t get me wrong—the GOP is absolutely facing headwinds in 2018. And there’s a lot of political ground left to cover in November. I’d certainly rather be in a position of winning districts by increasing margins rather than decreasing ones. Could the...

They don’t call it the “Stupid Party” for nothing. Republicans ran 11 – that’s right, one short of a dozen – candidates against a good looking 30 year old Anyone But Trump Democrat; what kind of a strategy is that?Despite the Republicans best efforts Mr. Ossoff, a 30-year-old documentary filmmaker (slacker) failed to win the majority vote required to avoid a runoff. Funded by deep pockets ($8 million) from around the country (97% from outside the district) and with the support of high profile celebrities it was an awfully close race for a district that’s been solidly Republican since Jimmy...

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Channel 2 Action News has learned that critical voting machines were stolen just days before polls will open for a special election. State officials are investigating after equipment was taken from a Cobb County precinct manager’s vehicle. According to Secretary of State Brian Kemp, the equipment was stolen on Saturday evening while the vehicle was parked at the Kroger on Canton Road. Kemp’s office says Cobb County Elections waited two days to tell his office about the theft of the machines.

This evening, all eyes were on the special election in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District as Democrats were hoping to flip the seat that has been held by Republicans for decades. The seat recently opened up after Republican Tom Price left to take over as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Going into the night, Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff was way up in the polls as a number of GOP hopefuls threw their hats into the ring. However, despite the fact that he was polling in the mid-40s, roughly 30 points ahead of his nearest opponent, Ossoff and Democrats knew he...
  • Election in Georgia's 6th congressional district appears headed to runoff

    The Week ^ | April 18, 2017 | The Atlanta Journal Constitution
With 54 percent of precincts in Georgia's 6th congressional district reporting, Democrat Jon Ossoff has 50 percent of the vote, followed by Republican Karen Handel with 18 percent and Republican Judson Hill with 10 percent. This special election is being held to fill the seat left vacant earlier this year by Republican Tom Price, who became the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The district covers areas of metro Atlanta, a conservative stronghold that was barely won by Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. There are 18 candidates in the race, and if one does not...

The most competitive special Congressional election yet has arrived, and we will be providing returns live tonight right here. In addition to our district-wide totals, we will be analyzing county and precinct level returns. For the Democrats, the hope is that Jon Ossoff can pull out an outright win tonight- if he gets over 50% of the vote in this crowded field, he’s in as the district’s new Representative in Congress. If he falls short, then he will face off against one of four likely Republican opponents in a runoff on June 20th: Karen Handel, Bob Gray, Judson Hill, or...

A quick follow-up to our post this morning, featuring liberal 30-year-old Congressional wannabe Jon Ossoff's rocky interview on CNN today, in which he was pressed on the fact that he doesn't even live inside the district he wants to represent. No big deal, he says, explaining that he's supporting his girlfriend's medical education by residing 'down the road:' It's not an altogether terrible answer, although I'm not sure 'I'm living outside of the district to be with my girlfriend of 12 years' is an especially resonant explanation for suburban Georgians who may view him as under-experienced and too liberal.  He also refers to his...

On CNN this morning, Jon Ossoff – the Democratic frontrunner in the special election to replace Rep. Tom Price in Georgia’s sixth congressional district — was confronted with an amusing question: How does he feel about the fact that he can’t vote for himself today? This, of course, is because Ossoff is not a resident of the district he hopes to represent in Congress after today’s election. Ossoff quickly explained that he lives “down the street” from the district so that he can support his girlfriend while she finishes medical school. He noted that he grew up in the district...

Oh my! Leftist Democrat Tom Ossoff – trying to win the Georgia-CD-06 Special Election today to replace GOP Rep. Tom Price – didn’t plan on revealing to voters that he doesn’t even live in the district he wants to represent! But on CNN this morning he was asked about it (a random act of journalism from CNN!) and he admitted he lives outside the district with his girlfriend “of 12 years.” He says he grew up in the district and plans to move back to the district soon. . . .

Dearest Goddess Gaia, who art wherever, please deliver unto us just one lousy victory against the evil Trumpenreich..... The Democrats, and their mainstream media allies, are so desperate for just one electoral win to prove that President Donald Trump is on a downslide that they have even hailed no change in special elections since the November general election as some sort of moral victory. Below the surface, however, they know they need a victory in a special election. It wasn't delivered to them last week in Kansas in the special congressional election to fill the seat of Mike Pompeo who was...

The good news is that Jon Ossoff is succeeding in making the race for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District competitive. The bad news is that he’s probably not going to be going to the House of Representatives. According to a newly released poll, the 30-year-old Democrat will likely fall short of the 50 percent vote share in Tuesday’s election he needs to win the race outright. While Ossoff leads the crowded field of mostly Republicans vying to replace Republican Tom Price, who vacated the seat in February to serve as Trump’s Health and Human Services secretary, he is currently only polling...
