Outside the Claremont United Methodist Church is a nativity scene with a bleeding Trayvon Martin. The California Church has turned their nativity scene "into a piece of art that comments on our times" for the last seven years. John Zachary, the artist, told me the acquittal in July of George Zimmerman, who fatally shot the 17-year-old African-American in 2012, struck him as a worthy subject for Christmas comment. For one thing, the backdrop to the Christmas story is the slaughter by King Herod of all infants in Bethlehem, a barbarous attempt to kill the Messiah.

George Zimmerman, the man acquitted of murder in July in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, is selling an original canvas painting on eBay, according to a MyNews13.com report. According to the report, Zimmerman's brother confirmed the authenticity of the eBay listing, which is for a painting of a blue U.S. flag featuring the words "God, One Nation, with Liberty and Justice for All," in white letters.

<p>I have been observing and writing about the George Zimmerman digital lynching from very early on.   As I monitor and write about self defense stories, I caught an early version of the events in  Sanford, Florida.  The story said that a black teenager had been shot in self defense.  A picture was included.   Reading the story, I concluded that the picture was that of the black teenager that had been shot.  I was wrong.   The picture was of George Zimmerman.</p>

The director of the jazz studies program at Princeton University has written a ballad for Trayvon Martin. (AP) — George Zimmerman was charged with assault Monday after his girlfriend called deputies to the home where they were living and claimed he pointed a shotgun at her during an argument, authorities said. The girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, called 911 in the early afternoon to say that Zimmerman had smashed a glass table, threatened her with the shotgun and ultimately pushed her out of the house, according to an arrest report. After pushing her out, Zimmerman barricaded the door with furniture and refused to leave, saying that he would talk to police by phone, authorities said.
