One day every quarter, the world's big fund managers reveal some of what they're buying and selling in their 13-F regulatory filings. Generally speaking, these revelations aren't taken too seriously as they are 45-day-old snapshots. But over the weekend, one gigantic $1.3 billion position raised some eyebrows. Soros Fund Management disclosed that it held put options on 7,090,000 shares of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) at the end of Q4. Puts protect the holder of the option from declining prices. Soros' position makes money if $1.3 billion worth of the SPY declines in value. And at $1.3 billion, this...

A curious finding emerged in the latest 13F by Soros Fund Management, the family office investment vehicle managing the personal wealth of George Soros. Actually, two curious findings: the first was that the disclosed Assets Under Management as of December 31, 2013 rose to a record $11.8 billion (this excludes netting and margin, and whatever one-time positions Soros may have gotten an SEC exemption to not disclose: for a recent instance of this, see Greenlight Capital's Micron fiasco, and the subsequent lawsuit of Seeking Alpha which led to the breach of David Einhorn's holdings confidentiality). The second one is that...

George Soros just loves to meddle in American politics - especially if it's in support of liberal causes. Soros's Open Society Foundation proudly claimed to have given $100 million dollars to "immigrant rights" projects in the United States. Of the $16.7 million of this money that BMI identified, at least $5,300,755, nearly a third, went to organizations that also supported other liberal causes, including abortion, gay marriage and Obamacare. With $38.9 million in revenue in 2010 alone, the National Council on La Raza ($2,410,000 in Soros funding) calls itself "the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the...

George Soros' ex girlfriend, Adriana Ferreyr, lost her temper at her former flame during Tuesday’s deposition, according to court papers. George Soros’ former girlfriend came out swinging at her billionaire ex during a private deposition for her multi-million dollar lawsuit against the octogenarian, newly filed court papers allege. Adriana Ferreyr, a South American soap actress, clocked Soros in the head, knocked the glasses off his California lawyer Martin Singer, cursed his other prominent lawyer William Zabel and even screamed at her own high powered attorney William Beslow, according to papers filed Friday by Singer.

The Washington Post recently published a quixotic editorial maintaining that the left has no deep-pocketed financiers like the right does in the much written about and thoroughly maligned Koch brothers. In its editorial, the paper laments that Democrat groups have no one like the Kochs. For the Post, Reid Wilson wrote that for "Democratic professionals who actually run campaigns, the thing that frustrates them most about the Koch brothers network is that there’s no real equivalent on their side."

(Reuters) - The United States and Europe exchanged angry words with Russia on Saturday in a tug-of-war over Ukraine, with U.S., EU and NATO leaders saying Moscow must not strong-arm Kiev into an unpopular alliance. At conference in Munich where Western diplomats met leaders of the Ukrainian opposition, United States Secreatary of State John Kerry said the protesters believe "their futures do not have to lie with one country alone, and certainly not coerced". "Nowhere is the fight for a democratic, European future more important today than in Ukraine," he said. "The United States and EU stand with the people...

Recently, The New American has reported on the efforts by radio talk show host Mark Levin and others to push for a constitutional convention (a convention of the states, in the parlance of the proponents). In his new book, Levin argues that such a convention is the last hope “to reform the federal government from its degenerate, bloated, imperial structure back to its (smaller) republican roots.” Unfortunately, many otherwise well-educated and well-meaning conservatives have succumbed to Levin’s siren song and they have gone so far as to deny the constitutionality of nullification and to insist that an Article V convention...

The Center for American Progress partnered with Maria Shriver on lib, NBC promoted report. Not only did NBC allow their special anchor Maria Shriver to promote her own report on “Nightly News,” they did it without disclosing that it was made in partnership with a group that liberal billionaire George Soros gave $7.3 million to. In “The Shriver Report: A Woman’s Nation Pushes Back From the Brink,” which was published on Jan. 11, an outspokenly liberal nun, Sister Joan Chittister, took aim at religious attitudes in America that “devalue” and marginalize women. Shriver was invited to the White House on...

China National Gold Group Corporation General Manager Sun Zhaoxue has come out and told the world media that the US is suppressing the gold price. The reason for America’s manipulation of gold is to ensure US Dollar dominance on the world stage. America has by default ended up with the world’s reserve currency and therefore gets the world to work for them in exchange for an ever increasing supply of printed greenbacks. He also went on with an excellent analysis of America’s war against Europe and the Euro using their investment banks. Another good insight from Sun Zhaoxue is that...

What do George Soros, labor unions and money-grubbing former GOP Rep. Steven LaTourette all have in common? They're control freaks. They're power hounds. They're united against tea party conservatives. And they all have operated under the umbrella of D.C. groups masquerading as "Main Street" Republicans. LaTourette heads up the so-called "Main Street Partnership," which claims to represent "thoughtful," "pragmatic," "common sense" and "centrist" Republican leadership. Reality check: The pro-bailout, pro-debt, pro-amnesty, anti-drilling group founded by former liberal New York GOP Congressman Amory Houghton includes three liberal Senate Republicans (John McCain, Mark Kirk and Susan Collins) and 52 center-left House Republicans....

The liberal media watchdog group backed by billionaire George Soros says its “war” on Fox News is over, claiming it has neutralized the right-leaning network and no longer sees it as a threat. “It’s not just that it’s over, but it was very successful,” Media Matters Executive Vice President Angelo Carusone bragged late this week to The Huffington Post. “To a large extent, we won,” he said. …

A group of evangelicals in favor of passing immigration reform have a message for House Speaker John Boehner: "We're praying for you." The group says the ad will air on WTOP, a radio station in Washington, D.C., as well as 30 Christian radio stations in Texas and North Carolina. A Spanish-speaking iteration of the spot will also air in Southern California. "Our immigration system...

Looking for advice on how to improve the NYPD’s ability to keep New Yorkers safe, incoming Mayor Bill de Blasio is turning to the experts in violent crime and criminal activity. . . Ex-convicts. And not the white collar Bernie Madoff convicts. De Blasio’s transition think tank (bankrolled by the liberal billionaire, George Soros) listened to the concerns of convicted criminals when it came to the NYPD’s policies and policing efforts. The message was pretty much what one would expect from convicted kidnappers, killers, thieves, and other NYC scum: “Get Soft on Crime.” According to the NY Post, “A group...

They said: Rep. Cantor Falsely Implies Democratic Plan Doesn't Allow Americans To "Keep What They've Got If They Like It" Rep. Cantor: "I think next what you will see in our plan is we really will provide a way for people to keep what they've got if they like it. And that means we've got to provide the flexibility for employer-based plans to stay in the game, so that we can have the innovation that has proven to bring down costs." [Cantor Appearance on CNBC, 6/17/09] They also said: President Obama Has Repeatedly Said That People Who Like Their Insurance...

When the Spanish, online voting company SKYTL bought the largest vote processing corporation in the United States, it also acquired the means of manufacturing the outcome of the 2012 election. For SOE, the Tampa based corporation purchased by SKYTL in January supplies the election software which records, counts and reports the votes of Americans in 26 states–900 total jurisdictions–across the nation. As the largest election results reporting company in the US, SOE provides reports right down to the precinct level. But before going anywhere else, those election returns are routed to individual, company servers where the people who run them...

From The Western Center for Journalism in a piece entitled, "Spanish Company Will 'Count' American Votes Overseas In November,' they state the following in this excerpt: "When the Spanish online voting company SCYTL bought the largest vote processing corporation in the United States, it also acquired the means of manufacturing the outcome of the 2012 election. For SOE, the Tampa based corporation purchased by SCYTL in January, supplies the election software which records, counts, and reports the votes of Americans in 26 states-900 total jurisdictions-across the nation. And if that doensn't make you squirm, George Soros is closely associated with...
