Also called Theophorus (ho Theophoros); born in Syria, around the year 50; died at Rome between 98 and 117. By Anonymous - Chatzidakis. Byzantine Art in Greece, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=38028471 More than one of the earliest ecclesiastical writers have given credence, though apparently without good reason, to the legend that Ignatius was the child whom the Savior took up in His arms, as described in Mark 9:35. It is also believed, and with great probability, that, with his friend Polycarp, he was among the auditors of the Apostle St. John. If we include St. Peter, Ignatius was the third Bishop...

10/16/2020: Marking 74 Years Since the "Purim Fest 1946!" Purim Code October 16, 1946 -- Shortly before Nazi Julius Streicher was executed, he yelled, "Purimfest 1946!" As it turned out, details of the Nuremberg trials and the sentencings had some unusual parallels with the Scroll of Esther. Among other things, the peculiar small letters within the list of Haman's sons (chapter 9) spell out the year of the events: (5)707. As he reached the platform Streicher cried out, 'Now it goes to G-d.' He was pushed the last two steps to the mortal spot beneath the hangman's rope. The rope...

"Listen, O heavens, and hear, O earth; for the Lord speaks" (Isa. 1:2). God’s Word is the only source of divine authority. We might assume that those who affirm the inspiration, inerrancy, and infallibility of God's Word would automatically submit to its authority. But that isn't always the case. Even those who hold to a high view of Scripture may sometimes fail to obey it. We need to be reminded that the authority of God's Word isn't simply a doctrine to be affirmed, but a priority to be pursued. Israel fell into the trap of holding to a high view...

Introduction If it weren’t for the length of the title, this article could have been called An Interpretive Scenario of the Most Rapid-Fire, Hectic, and Event-Filled Period in the History of the World! Essentially, everything you are about to read will be climaxing at approximately the midway point of the Tribulation. It truly will be the most rapid-fire, event-filled point in history and, obviously, not for the good. The reader will notice that I reference multiple articles I have written. Trust me; this is not an effort at self-promotion. That thought leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I never...

With Israel on lockdown because of Covid-19 and Pres. Trump in the hospital for testing positive for Covid-19, it seems like most of the media has ignored the Middle East this week. Nevertheless, here are a few items that seem to be related to prophecies in the Bible. One, during former Vice Pres. Joe Biden’s debate with Pres Trump on Sept. 29, 2020, Biden said, “I am the Democratic Party right now.” That is very questionable, but if it is true, Biden is responsible for no mention of God at the Democrat Party Convention and in the Democrat Party Platform....

Teleios evaluated the influence of religious beliefs on the general wellbeing of college students. Of the 227 participants, there were almost equal portions of self-professed evangelicals, social Christians, agnostic/atheist and other religious groups. Students reported high levels of wellbeing with no statistical difference between religious belief systems. Evangelical Christians more often perceived themselves as: spiritual (P<0.001), accepted by God (P<0.001) and having more purpose (P=0.01). Students who identified as both evangelicals and ‘saved by grace’ showed greater wellbeing (P=0.015). IN SUMMARY, university students have high levels of wellbeing across all religious belief systems, but evangelical Christians show higher levels of...

I have just finished reading Sohrab Ahmari’s From Fire by Water (Ignatius, 2019), an engaging, perceptive, and edifying account of his spiritual and intellectual journey from a not-very observant Islamic early childhood, to Catholicism, with a lot of secular modern allegiances in between. Ahmari was born in Iran to a secularized, middle class, intellectual family. Having some access to American culture, especially films, Ahmari was thoroughly seduced by the American way of life before he had any personal contact with it. When he and his mother managed to emigrate to America when he was 13, the reality of a financially...

BONN, Germany (CNS) — The German Catholic bishops’ conference and the council of the Evangelical Church in Germany plan to continue their discussions about shared Communion, reported the German Catholic news agency, KNA. German Catholic and Protestant theologians and bishops had published an appraisal of the topic in May, and it was scheduled to be discussed at the German bishops’ fall plenary assembly in Fulda at the end of September. However, on Sept. 18, the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith voiced strong objections to the appraisal, saying that differences between Catholics and Protestants in the understanding of...

It is I, Paul, who am telling you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. Once again I declare to every man who has himself circumcised that he is bound to observe the entire law. You are separated from Christ, you who are trying to be justified by law;...
