Today, on their own website, they published an apologia for same-sex “marriage,” crossing a whole new line in their battle to reform the Church’s basic moral teachings. I suspected that there was something inherent in the roots of the word "Matrimony" which would establish it's meaning as being between a man and a woman. I believe a word can be better understood by looking up how it came to us from older languages, and so I consulted an online etymology dictionary. It said the word "Matrimony" is derived from the word "Mater", which means "Mother" in Latin. This is a clear indication that the intended purpose is to begat children.

As Kim Davis was released from jail today, she stood outside with Gov. Mike Huckabee and her attorney Matt Staver as they answered a few questions from the press. During the impromptu presser, Staver claimed that it is not Kim Davis who broke the law, but rather the clerks issuing licenses in her absence. Davis, through Staver, has taken the position that all the licenses issued since her refusal are invalid under the law, and that furthermore, she would have been breaking the law if she had issued them absent any direction from state lawmakers in Kentucky:

Democratic Party fundraiser and gay activist Terry Bean made sex-abuse allegations with a 17-year-old boy disappear on Tuesday thanks to a $200,000 settlement offer. Terry Bean, 67, faced child sexual-abuse charges over a September 2013 incident that allegedly occurred at a Eugene, Oregon, hotel with his ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Kiah Lawson, and the teenager. Lane County Circuit Judge Jay McAlpin dismissed the case when Lane County Chief Deputy District Attorney Erik Hasselman said the teenager declined to testify, the Register Guard reported Wednesday.

The Kentucky county clerk who made herself a national celebrity by refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses was jailed Thursday for contempt of court. Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis was taken into custody by U.S. marshals, according to reporters on the scene. In sending her to jail, U.S. District Judge David Bunning ignored the American Civil Liberties Union's request that Davis be fined to compel compliance with orders that she issue marriage licenses. ACLU attorney Heather Weaver, who is working on the case, said there was testimony about fundraising efforts on Davis' behalf, apparently a factor in the judge's decision...

A federal judge has ordered Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis and her deputies to appear in his courtroom Thursday and explain why Davis should not be held in contempt of court for refusing to issue marriage licenses.
