Boston police investigators are probing a possible “nexus to gang activity” linking the deaths of five teenage boys in East Boston in the past 15 months — the latest a young man found fatally stabbed near Memorial Park late Christmas Eve, police Commissioner William B. CHICAGO -- More than 60 people were shot over the holiday weekend, 11 of them fatally. One of the most recent shootings left two teenage girls injured, one critically. Two men killed about 10 minutes apart brought the Thanksgiving weekend tally to eight fatal shootings. In all, at least 61 people were shot in attacks across the city over four-day holiday weekend, according to Chicago Police. Fire officials say 3-to-5 people were wounded in a possible officer-involved shooting in Azusa, California Tuesday. The scene is at West 4th Street and North Orange Avenue. First responders were setting up a triage area for the possibility of additional victims, NBC-LA reported. The LA County Sheriff’s Officer also deployed a helicopter. Federal authorities say a Laotian drug ring was the target of a series of raids conducted at illegal marijuana grows in five Southern Colorado Counties Wednesday. The wide spread drug bust operation is still underway however a number of people have been detained on site. So far, authorities have seized more than 12,000 pounds of marijuana that was being shipped to Texas and Arkansas.

For the fifth time since September, police have discovered the remains of a teenager in Brentwood, a community plagued by gang violence. The body of Jose Pena-Hernandez, 18, of Brentwood, was found Monday in a wooded area at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, but police said the case was being investigated as a homicide. Hernandez, who police say was a known gang member, was reported missing in June. Suffolk County police believe he was beaten to death.
