Good evening fellow Freepers. I just got me a Roku device and I'm looking for suggestions for what I should add to my channel lineup. I got some already, but I'm looking for more conservative news channels as well as family friendly movie/TV channels to subscribe to. Thanks all!

... Antenna TV is, in fact, the name of a TV channel. It’s just one in a group of quietly successful channels that include MeTV, ThisTV, SmileTV, Laff, Grit, Bounce, Comet, Decades, and more. These are channels fueled by nostalgia for TV from the era when theme songs were a minute long and black-and-white wasn’t just an effect. A time when Johnny Carson was the king of the night and Murphy Brown was a household name. Best of all, you don’t need a subscription to watch — as the name suggests, all you need is an antenna and a TV....

A couple of years ago, I ran across a thread on here regarding live tv streaming. One of the sites listed was ustvgo along with some others that I can't recall because I immediately went to the ustvgo site which it was terrific. It had it all plus it was free. Since I don't have TV, I had it on my PC everyday and had access to all cable and network stations. In January it was taken down and the message left was 'sorry, we are closed'. After doing some research, it looks like some heavy weights got involved and...

THE VAN IS COMING FOR YOU To ensure a regular income, the BBC runs enforcement operations under the TV Licencing trade name, the entity which is responsible for administering the system. Records are kept of licences and their expiry dates, and investigations are made into households suspected of owning a television who have not paid the requisite fees. To encourage compliance, TV Licencing regularly sends sternly worded letters to those who have let their licence lapse or have not purchased one. In the event this fails, they may arrange a visit from enforcement officers. These officers aren’t empowered to forcibly...

  • Economic bummer: 6.9 million homes ditch cable TV

It started with homes, then cars, and now penny-pinching Americans, especially minorities, are giving up cable TV because they just can't afford it in the lingering recession. Instead, they are switching back to free TV, improved with the recent switch to digital broadcast which requires a special antenna but eliminates the $70-$100 monthly cable, satellite or broadband service fee. Industry officials had worried that Americans would begin "cord-cutting" in a shift to internet TV, but the recession is more to blame, not internet bling. "It's not so much cord-cutting as cost-cutting that's motivating this. There's possibly recessionary issues here," said...

McCain to Lead New Reform Fight For Free TV Time Morton M. Kondracke Source: Roll Call Improbable as enactment of campaign finance reform once looked, the next step - providing candidates with free television time - looks even more difficult. But it ought to happen. Improbable as enactment of campaign finance reform once looked, the next step - providing candidates with free television time - looks even more difficult. But it ought to happen. It's difficult because the mighty broadcast TV industry - which is gorging itself on political advertising revenue while spending precious little on political coverage - will...
