Lots of people want credit for Dede Scozzafava dropping out today. I feel like I have had a view from the inside. Lots of people are trying to give me credit for rallying the base since last July for Hoffman, but from my vantage point, there are four that are being overshadowed by Pataki, Pawlenty, and Palin, but who genuinely and truly deserve a hell of a lot more credit than most. And despite the fact that the NRCC is throwing $200,000.00 - $300,0000.00 at this race to get Dede Scozzafava elected, Hoffman has has own haul of cash.

If you haven't been following it, the race in NY-23 has Fred Thompson, Club for Growth and Bill Kristol on one side, Newt Gingrich, Daily Kos and Michael Steele on another side, and Bill Clinton and Barack Obama on yet another side. Back during the 2008 Iowa Cacuses, a rumor was circulated the night before that Fred Thompson was going to pull out of the race. During an interview the next day, Thompson said he knew who was behind it, but refused to discuss beyond saying it cost him "a couple of points". Following the departures of Talk Radio Network syndicated hosts Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage & Jerry Doyle, Mount Wilson FM-owned KGIL-AM (1260) has a new-look talk lineup. The syndicated Glenn Beck now moves into morning drive from 6am-9am, followed by Fred Thompson from 9am-11am. For now, KGIL will re-broadcast Thompson’s show from 11am-1pm, In the afternoon, it’s the syndicated Dr. Dean Edell and Larry King for one hour apiece, and Lars Larson from 3pm-5pm.
