A pregnant Florida woman was arrested for domestic battery after pelting her brother with frosted cupcakes during a 1:45 AM argument Saturday in the family’s Vero Beach residence, police report. According to cops, Latonya Daugherty, 24, was quarreling with her 30-year-old sibling when the “verbal argument escalated.” Daugherty (seen above) allegedly “picked up frosted cup cakes and threw them at” Edddie Yaddow. The cupcakes, an arrest affidavit notes, struck Yaddow in the arm and chest.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A mother has been arrested after a severely malnourished boy was found in a filthy Daytona Beach apartment eating pieces of old cereal off dirty carpet, police said. The boy was discovered by the Department of Children and Families during an investigation into child neglect. The boy, 5, was severely underweight and unable to speak, walk or stand, Daytona Beach police said. The boy was 24.9 pounds when he was found, police said.

A Florida mother is accused of not taking her 4-year-old daughter to the hospital until weeks after the child accidentally shot herself, authorities said. Shanquisha Lashay Upshaw, 23, of Lehigh Acres, and her daughter were staying at a friend’s house when police said the child shot herself in the leg, according to News-Press.

Authorities say a Florida man leaned in to kiss a rattlesnake — but got bitten instead. News outlets report the unidentified man was bitten on the tongue Tuesday in the Bostwick area and had to be airlifted to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Surveillance video captured the moment when a homeowner fought off five would-be robbers with a machete. Five South Florida men were arrested in connection to an armed robbery in Sarasota on Thursday. Police responded to a call at 4:45 a.m. about a man with a shotgun showing up at a home. MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was shot after an argument over a blocked handicapped parking spot at a popular Florida park Wednesday night, according to the Miami Herald. GREENACRES— Enraged from seeing the dating website Match.com on a man’s computer last week, Lucy Melesky reportedly grabbed a mounted ax off the mantel and smashed it on the ground. Melesky slung the ax over her shoulder and screamed at the man about the alleged unfaithfulness, he told Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies. Melesky, 45, was arrested the evening of April 18 on charges of battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A man charged with fatally stabbing a Florida restaurant worker and former Florida State mascot in a fight over gumbo spices has been found guilty of second-degree murder. Caleb Joshua Halley was found guilty Thursday in the 2015 death. He faces up to life in prison for the crime. One man is dead and a sheriff’s deputy is injured after a standoff that all started with an argument about doughnuts, police said.
