Video: Rep. John Fleming Asks Members Of Congress To Sign Up For Government Health Care. “We put this resolution together, House Resolution 615, with the express idea that if a Member of Congress votes for this single payer government takeover plan that he or she will be willing to sign up for it.” “The President has already proposed gutting Medicare; reducing income to Medicare.” “Then we will have health care rationing, long lines. It will be like going to the DMV or to the post office where you stand in line.” Click for full video file: http://washingtonnewsobserver.com/?p=133

Shortly before the outbreak of the French Revolution, when told that starving peasants were complaining about having no bread, Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI, reportedly brushed off the report by saying, “Let them eat cake.” It’s now known that the doomed queen never said such a thing, but it has remained as a catchphrase that represents the attitude adopted by many (but not all) rich and otherwise privileged individuals who don’t have to worry about the same petty concerns of those who are less fortunate.
  • Why did Congress exempt themselves from Obamacare?

Why did Congress exempt themselves from being included in the healthcare they want for the rest of Americans? Maybe it's because Congress members don't want themselves and their families to be at the mercy of bureaucrats about whether they can receive quality of life treatments, or even treatments for their very life or death; rationing; long lines; or when they become senior citizens, be forced to have counseling every five years, or more often if they are sick, regarding alternatives for end of life care. Rep. John Fleming, (the 2007 Louisiana family physician of the year), put forth a bill,...

Congressman John Fleming (R-LA) is getting a lot of notice right now partly because of his Resolution to Congress that they also sign on for whatever health care proposal they force on to the rest of us. Politico reports that "Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma are pushing the same concept in the Senate, preparing separate amendments that would require members — and maybe even their staffs — to sign up for the public option." Newt Gingrich is also promoting it. The New Republic calls Fleming's resolution a "lame idea": "This is, of course, a rather...

Congressman Fleming has proposed a Resolution which states that members of Congress must also participate in whatever health care plan they choose for the rest of us...It might be time for Obama to slow down and rethink his game plan and his outlook. I don't think that will happen, quite honestly. His normal practice has been the arm-twisting Chicago way and it is possible that his being out of the country and preoccupied with foreign affairs has left him unable this week to wrangle these initiatives through. That's our good fortune. I've never seen Obama admit at mistake, either. He...

Democrats took aim at a reliably Republican congressional seat Saturday night as Paul Carmouche narrowly led Republican John Fleming in the hotly contested 4th Congressional District race. With 63 percent of precincts reporting, Carmouche had 50 percent of the vote to 47 percent for Fleming. Two independent candidates had the rest of the vote. The winner succeeds Republican Congressman Jim McCrery, who decided not to seek re-election after 20 years in the House of Representatives. Carmouche is retiring after being district attorney in Caddo Parish for 30 years. Fleming is a Minden physician and businessman.

In a shocker, there will be a GOP Rep. in New Orleans. In a surprising twist, GOPers won a sweep in LA tonight in two general elections, picking up embattled Rep. Bill Jefferson's (D-LA 02) seat in New Orleans, and holding retiring Rep. Jim McCrery's (R) seat in the Shreveport-based Fourth District. But the surprise of the night, and possibly the cycle, was in the Big Easy. Atty Ahn “Joseph” Cao (R) defeated Jefferson 50-47%. Dems outnumber GOPers here 6-1, and African Americans make up 61% of the vote. But the NRCC must've had an inkling that something was up...

LA-2 , Orleans, Jefferson Parish: In a huge upset win, little known Republican attorney Anh "Joseph" Cao beat nine term and criminally indicted William Jefferson(D). Jefferson had been expected to easily win. Cao becomes the first Vietnamese member of U.S. Congress. LA-4, Shreveport-Bossier City, Sabine Parish, et. al., Western LA, TX/AR border: Republican Dr. John Fleming wins. Fleming was trailing by about 3% early in the election results but came on strong in the end to beat Carmouche(D) by 356 votes. Carmouche has not conceded election – recount probably pending. With these results, the 111th U.S. House of Representatives...

More than 60 years on, the case of Helen Duncan, the last woman in Britain to be jailed for witchcraft, refuses to die. As her supporters seek a posthumous pardon, evidence has emerged that she may have been the victim of a plot involving British intelligence agents, including Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond. In the 1940s Duncan, a Dundee housewife and mother of six, travelled the country performing seances for a war-weary public often seeking reassurance about their loved ones. As a 'materialisation medium', which involved her going into a trance and producing 'ectoplasm' through which spirits would take...

OP-ED CONTRIBUTOR WHEN I was growing up in Jersey City, no one gave more than a passing thought to St. Patrick's Day. Ireland was a remote place where people sang weepers like "Mother Macree." Otherwise the country was seldom if ever mentioned. We did not even have a St. Patrick's Day Parade. Some may find this more than a little strange because for 30 or so years, the city was governed by a mayor and four commissioners with Irish names. I went to St. Patrick's Parochial School. I had a grandfather, David Fleming, whose brogue was so thick I could...

February 1, 2005 -- Police yesterday busted a paroled teen punk who allegedly shot aspiring actress Nicole duFresne — but the crybaby put on his own performance, moaning and complaining that he was sick, while taking no responsibility for the coldblooded slaying. Rudy Fleming, 19, "was whining like a little girl," a law-enforcement source scoffed. "I don't feel good," the hood complained, lolling his head and pretending to be dizzy as detectives tried to question him.

LONDON (Reuters) - A British war hero, said to have been the inspiration behind secret agent James Bond, has died aged 90, British newspapers reported Wednesday. Former Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander Patrick Dalzel-Job carried out a series of daring exploits behind enemy lines during the Second World War including some while serving under author Ian Fleming, who created the 007 character. Although he never claimed to be the real James Bond, Fleming had told him he was the model for the heroic spy, the Guardian newspaper said. Dalzel-Job's real life adventures certainly read like a James Bond novel. In one...

By CHRIS VAN WAGENEN A-J BUSINESS EDITOR Fleming Companies confirmed Wednesday that it will close its distribution center in Lubbock, costing the jobs of nearly 200 workers. The Lewisville food wholesaler told employees the plant will close in May. "After a careful analysis of our supply system, we've made the decision to consolidate this operation. Right now our target date to close is on or about May 5," said Fleming spokes man Shane Boyd. Market Lubbock Inc., which was notified about the development late Tuesday, said it is negotiating with Fleming for reimbursement of a substantial portion of a $1...
