"People are really looking for somebody that is hopeful and inspiring, and Gillum really meets that," said Women's March Pinellas organizer Lisa Perry, likening Gillum's grass roots enthusiasm to the kind generated by Sanders and Barack Obama. "Gillum may have the least funding, but he's created a really big ground game here already."

A secret memo marked “URGENT” detailed how the House Democratic Caucus’s server went “missing” soon after it became evidence in a cybersecurity probe. The secret memo also said more than “40 House offices may have been victims of IT security violations.” In the memo, Congress’s top law enforcement official, Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving, along with Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko, wrote, “We have concluded that the employees [Democratic systems administrator Imran Awan and his family] are an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems ... shortly after an IG report came...

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - On any given day, deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office can be found working a special security detail at the Festival Flea Market Mall in Pompano Beach. The service is paid for by Festival Flea Market Mall owner Daniel Shooster, who also happens to be a member of the Broward Sheriff's Advisory Council and one of Sheriff Scott Israel's top campaign donors. Shooster is responsible for at least $37,000 in contributions to Israel's campaign, political committee, and legal defense fund in the past few years. An Israel campaign ad even plays on a loop on the...

A group of Florida local teacher organizations and individual teachers — both members and non-members — joined the Florida Education Association on Monday in suing the state over changes in union certification law that took effect over the weekend. 'We're not feeling defeated. We're feeling angry and we're ready to do something about it. We're tired of being the target of legislators," said Melissa Rudd, Wakulla teacher organization president, one of the plaintiffs in the suit. The Wakulla Classroom Teachers Association is among a handful that faces the threat of not getting half of eligible teachers to join, as the...

Call it the consummate New Jersey compromise. Governor Phil Murphy and State Senate leader Steve Sweeney have been fighting over whether to raise tax rates on individuals or businesses, and over the weekend they decided to raise taxes on both. Messrs. Murphy and Sweeney agreed to raise the state’s income tax on residents making more than $5 million to 10.75% from 8.97% and the corporate rate on companies with more than $1 million in income to 11.5% from 9%. This will give New Jersey the fourth highest marginal income tax rate on individuals and the second highest corporate rate after...

Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), the far-left presidential candidate in Mexico and former mayor of Mexico City, has called for mass migration to the U.S., saying it is a "human right" for Mexican citizens to enter the United States. Just what we need. Another "human right" invented by the left. The Daily Caller: "And soon, very soon – after the victory of our movement – we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world," Obrador said, adding that immigrants "must leave their towns and find a life in the United States." He...

Miami-Dade commissioners on Wednesday gave preliminary approval to extending the 836 expressway 14 miles into West Kendall, rejecting warnings about environmental damage and urban sprawl in favor of bringing relief to commuters in the congested suburbs. "We've got to start somewhere," said Commissioner Javier Souto, whose district includes western areas in the county. "Do something. Do something." A final vote awaits later this year, but the 9-2 vote captured what appeared to be broad support for the signature transportation package from Mayor Carlos Gimenez, who cited the toll road's extension as a top priority as he prepares to leave office...

Every election has winners and losers, and Mexico's is no exception. While the press is making much of Mexico's centrist PRI and center-right PAN parties being the big losers in last night's election of socialist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in Mexico, the real loser is actually up north, in the U.S. Democratic Party. Sounds strange, until you look at the details. Some septuagenarian House Democrats have a message for their younger colleagues clamoring for a spot at the leadership table: Age ain’t nothin’ but a number. Democrats in their 70s have started pushing back against some of the more youthful members of the Democratic Caucus who are making noise about launching leadership bids in the wake of Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley’s stunning primary loss last week to 28-year-old Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York. Older lawmakers argue that just because Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), 78, and her top lieutenants are getting up there in years doesn’t mean they’re not...

The letters section of the New York Times is a fascinating insight into the state of liberalism, just as Kremlinologists used to study closely who stood where during military parades to figure out the state of affairs in the Soviet Union. ....snip What is most interesting about the letters to the Times is that many liberals fear, correctly, that this will drive voters into the arms of Republicans, and Trump, in 2018 and 2020. John California I am a lifelong Democrat. Never voted for a Republican in my life. Though I despise Trump, as dimwitted and mendacious as he largely...

(CNSNews.com) - In response to two specific questions--did the Department of Justice or the FBI spy on the Trump campaign, and did anyone in the Obama administration direct confidential informants to make contact with the campaign--Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday he was "not permitted to discuss any classified information." "Let me ask you this," Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) asked Rosenstein. "What did the DOJ or FBI do in terms of collecting information, spying or surveillance on the Trump campaign, be it via (FBI informant) Stefan Halper, or anybody else working on behalf of...
