A few reasons...

1.It’s really a trick they changed the method used is the easiest way to explain it.

2. As you pointed out Seasonal adjustments.

3. For months now they put out numbers based on prediction and then a few weeks later or so they are adjusted downward to the actual numbers but unless you look for it people are led to believe the original numbers were fact.

4. They stopped counting those who fall off the unemployment roles.

The models the Bureau of Labor Statistics uses are flawed. The real numbers will come out after the first of the year.

I have a question for you, why does the “unadjusted” number for week ending 12/19 show an actual increase in layoffs from the previous week (see above, from US Department of Labor website), yet the adjusted number is down 28,000 to 452,000. Also, what are the seasonal adjustments these numbers are based on, is it temporary workers during the holidays?

Almost half a million Americans lost their jobs and that is good news? You know dims that when we run out of jobs the monthly job loss rate will be zero right? Then you can really celebrate. D@mn fools.
