WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's policy of taking immigrant children from their parents at the southern border may have been designed to push Democrats to the negotiating table in Congress — but it could end up costing Republican lawmakers. "Democrats can fix their forced family breakup at the Border by working with Republicans on new legislation, for a change!" Trump wrote on Twitter Saturday. "This is why we need more Republicans elected in November." But the policy, which has separated some 2,000 children from their parents in just six weeks, could have the opposite effect as anxious Republican lawmakers fear...

The odor of decomposing bodies has renewed calls to replace a county morgue in northern Illinois. The Daily Herald reports the Kane County morgue only has room for two bodies in its freezer. The facility has seen a sudden influx of decomposing bodies over the past few weeks. Officials have been storing the bodies in coolers, which doesn't completely mask the smell. Employees in neighboring buildings have started to complain.

BILL O'REILLY: Well the report is out and there is a smoking gun. There is a smoking gun in the inspector general's report from the Justice Department. Michael Horowitz put out 500 pages, 499 of those pages are open to interpretation, one page is not, one page is a smoking gun. Now, you're going to hear if you watch television news or read the Internet the dispatches, an incredible amount of garbage. You're going to be lied to, you're going to be insulted, your intelligence is going to be insulted, all of that is going to happen in the next...

The city councilors who voted for the removal of Charlottesville's two Confederate monuments may be liable for damages and legal fees if the court ultimately rules in favor of the plaintiffs in the case, according to a written opinion signed Thursday by Charlottesville Circuit Judge Richard E. Moore. In a news release, The Monument Fund, a group involved in the lawsuit against the city, announced that the court had sent the parties a letter explaining its opinion on whether the councilors are entitled to immunity. “There may still be some questions, even if defendants are not immune, as to what...

America’s largest Protestant group moves to cut ties with the Republican Party and re-engage with mainstream culture. It was immediately clear that change was afoot in Dallas. I’ve attended the annual gatherings of the Southern Baptist Convention dozens of times, but walking around the convention center this week, I was struck by how unfamiliar it all felt. When I was a child, the convention hall was a sea of silver combovers and smelled of denture paste. While the older, more traditionalist crowd was still present in Dallas, the younger, fresh-faced attendees now predominated. “The generational shift happening in the SBC...

Omar Mohamad travelled from Reading to march against the EDL leader and left Sergeant Guy Rooney with a severely bruised face. The 62-year-old joined the Hyde Park event led by the controversial leader with a group of men. During the rally he scuffled with the officer and struck him with a walking stick. Sergeant Rooney suffered from post traumatic stress and his bruising was so bad his children wouldn't walk to school with him. Passing a 26 week suspended sentence, District Judge Richard Blake said the rally was held "to express views that were adverse to the Muslim community in...

LAREDO, Tex. — Last spring, as Central American children flooded into Texas in a way he had never seen in his three-decade career, Border Patrol agent Robert Harris decided to experiment. His intelligence analysts estimated that 78 percent of the guides smuggling other migrants were Mexicans younger than 18 — teenagers often hired or conscripted by drug cartels that knew they would not be prosecuted if caught — and he wanted to attack this loophole. “Why don’t we remove these juveniles from the smuggling cycle?” Harris, the outgoing commander of the Laredo sector of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, recalled...

  • Peter Strzok denies throwing 'cocktail party' for judge on surveillance court

    Washington Examiner ^ | June 15, 2018
Senior FBI official Peter Strzok says he didn't arrange a cocktail party with a federal judge who serves on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, despite telling his mistress in a text message that he would. Strzok suggested a "cocktail party" with U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras in a July 25, 2016, message to FBI attorney Lisa Page. Days later, on July 31, Strzok opened the FBI's probe of possible Trump campaign collusion with Russia. Strzok told the Justice Department inspector general's office that his messages regarding the judge dealt with no particular case and that the social gathering didn't happen,...

One of the information issues with the IG report is that it’s written entirely from an insiders perspective. Therefore without an understanding of how divisions within Main Justice related to the discussed activity within FBI main DC offices it can be very confusing to understand. The ‘insider narration’ makes it difficult to see what happened with the Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner laptop; and how the Clinton emails were discovered. However, because the issue is so important the IG report spends three chapters on this time-frame between September 28th and October 29th, 2016; and ultimately the next day, Oct. 30th,...

We were told that it would be better if illegal immigrants were drawn out of the shadows and documented. Therefore, an American president illegally amnestied many without the consent of the people’s representatives, something that even King George couldn’t do without parliament. Yet one look at new government data provided to Rep. Steve King and shared exclusively with Conservative Review shows that, six years into the illegal amnesty, we still know very little about the amnestied population. What we do know paints a disturbing picture of our government placing the desire for legalization at all costs ahead of its own...

President Donald Trump is more popular with his party than almost any other recent president, according to pollster John Zogby. Zogby noted this week that Trump's high approval rating within his own party ranks him above every other recent president, aside from George W. Bush, at this point in their terms. "His approval ratings within his own party are high," Zogby said at the Washington Foreign Press Center this week. "If you look today, 87 percent of Republicans give him a positive approval rating." The Zogby Poll found in May that 86 percent of Republicans approve of Trump, compared to...

WASHINGTON — Stephen K. Bannon, 10 months removed from the job of chief strategist to President Trump and five months after his ouster from the arch-conservative news site Breitbart News, is betting that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can disrupt banking the way Mr. Trump disrupted American politics. Mr. Bannon won’t reveal very much about his cryptocurrency plans — he worries that the controversy that comes with his name could have a bad impact on projects just getting off the ground. But he has had private meetings with cryptocurrency investors and hedge funds where he has discussed working on so-called initial...

One of South Carolina’s oldest cities may be apologizing for its prolific role in the U.S. slave trade, according to city documents. Charleston’s city council will consider a resolution “recognizing, denouncing and apologizing” for the role the South Carolina port city played in the slave trade, according to the council’s agenda. The formal apology will be considered for the first time on Juneteenth, a day aimed at celebrating the abolition of slavery. The resolution — which is scheduled for next Tuesday’s meeting — also says the city will commit to continuing to “pursue initiatives that honor the contributions of those...

Momentum is growing within the Democratic National Committee for a significant reform to the party’s presidential nominating process, but the proposed change has caused a leading California Democrat to question whether Russian meddling is behind the effort. **SNIP** Mulholland, a DNC member and longtime key player in California Democratic politics, sent an email Friday to other DNC members from the Golden State that implied Russian President Vladimir Putin might be behind the reform effort. The basis for his claim? An activist from West Virginia promoting the changes, who he had seen at two national party gatherings, admitted to him that...

A Democratic congressman from New York state torched Nancy Pelosi this week, calling her "aloof, frenetic and misguided," as he joined a growing group of rebel Democrats who say they won’t back the Californian for another term as the party's leader in the House. U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins, from the Buffalo area, told the Buffalo News that Pelosi has shown a lack of leadership and failed to produce an alternative to President Trump's agenda, such as pursuing a Medicare expansion or an investment in infrastructure. "I will not support her," Higgins said in the interview. "She's listening, but this is...
