A suspected female suicide bomber has set off explosives on a bus in the southern Russian city of Volgograd, killing at least six people. Officials believe the woman was from Dagestan in the North Caucasus and was the partner of an Islamist militant. The blast, which happened just after 14:00 (10:00 GMT), also injured more than 30 people, some of them seriously.

A loud noise was heard inside the building in the 100 block of Marconi Boulevard around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police asked people inside the building to evacuate by the stairs. Police and fire crews were going building by building checking for the source. Columbus fire officials said there were no reports of injuries. An explosion in central Prague on Monday, probably caused by gas, injured as many as 40 people, officials said, and neighboring buildings - including the National Theatre - had to be evacuated.
