the entire Emergency Response Team at the Buffalo Police Department has resigned in a show of solidarity for the cops suspended for shoving an elderly man to the ground. Up to 15 select Peshmerga are soon to be on the move, with half of each going by air and the balance accompanying a heavy, two wheeled, black powder cannon via strategic, unspecified back roads or allies. Earlier, whilst wildly cheered on by all nine vetted fighters of the Free Syrian Army, Turki prime minister Ert, disclaimed claims that he was not doing enough...

Greek riot police have cleared the headquarters of the defunct national broadcaster, temporarily detaining at least two journalists. The raid, ordered by the prime minister, began at 4am local time, causing a clutch of journalists and technicians guarding the facility to scramble. ERT was shut down in June when the government sacked the network's 2,700 staff as part of cost-cutting measures linked to Greece's €240bn (£202bn) bailout programme. Government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou said the eviction was "legal" and that a prosecutor had escorted police during the operation at the sprawling compound north-east of Athens.

Τhe journalists’ union Esiea has announced a 72-hour general strike for all public and municipal media, starting Saturday 06.00pm. Journalists are protesting against the abolition of the collective labour agreement, the scaling down or privitization of (public news agency) AMNA and (public radio-television) Ert and calling for the protection of the "public good that is journalism". The Hellenic Telecommunications (OTE) staff union OME-OTE has announced plans to hold a 24-hour strike next Wednesday, October 19, to coincide with the General Confederation of Greek Labour (GSEE) general strike. The union has called the strike in reaction to the government's economic policy...
