“Let me make something very clear,” Nick Freitas stated unequivocally. “I don’t have a political career.” Freitas, a Republican member of Virginia’s House of Delegates, was responding to advice. Upon announcing his candidacy for the United States Senate, he was given the standard smoke-filled room wisdom: running against super-incumbent Sen. Tim Kaine, he was told, “could hurt [his] political career.” You see, Kaine has a lot going for him. He is the former mayor of Richmond, lieutenant governor and then governor of Virginia, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, U.S. Senator and Hillary Clinton’s Vice-Presidential running mate in 2016. What...

Sen. Lindsey Graham gave a stern warning Sunday to President Donald Trump against firing special counsel Robert Mueller. "As I said in the past, if he tried to do that, that would be the beginning of the end of his presidency," the South Carolina Republican said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Rosenstein “sought to cover up” new FBI texts. LevinTV host Mark Levin blasted Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as a “cover-up artist” and “saboteur” Friday night after a new leak of FBI texts suggested Peter Strzok was friends with a FISA judge in the Gen. Flynn case. “Mr. Rosenstein has been giving cover to Robert Mueller, to Hillary Clinton, to Bill Clinton, to the Democrat Party, to the Perkins Coie Law Firm, to Fusion GPS, to Christopher Steele, and even the Russians. How else do you explain it?”

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) predicted House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will be one of Democrats' "biggest impediments" in recapturing the majority in the lower chamber during midterm elections. Republicans on the Hill this week have said Conor Lamb won in the Pennsylvania special election because he emphasized that he wouldn't vote for Pelosi in party leadership elections and also highlighted his personal positions that aligned closely with the GOP. "You can look the special election of Pennsylvania and see a lot of things. One of the things we saw is both candidates run against Nancy Pelosi and...

President Trump woke up on Sunday morning and continued to tear into the deep state operatives. President Trump: Wow, watch Comey lie under oath to Senator G when asked “have you ever been an anonymous source…or known someone else to be an anonymous source…?” He said strongly “never, no.” He lied as shown clearly on @foxandfriends. President Trump: Spent very little time with Andrew McCabe, but he never took notes when he was with me. I don’t believe he made memos except to help his own agenda, probably at a later date. Same with lying James Comey. Can we call...

Who’s at the top of the list of people “relitigating 2016?” Hillary Clinton, of course, who has blamed her loss on everything from James Comey to the Curse of the Bambino. So on Al Sharpton’s MSNBC show this morning, when Howard Dean emphatically instructed people relitigating 2016 to “leave us alone,” who do you think he had most in mind? Right. Sharpton apparently didn’t want his show to become a platform for criticizing Clinton: “Uh, uh, uh: watch it, Howard. You’re getting a little snippy.” Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

The investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election has expanded to include President Trump’s family business, with the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, subpoenaing the Trump Organization for documents related to Russia. For more than 30 years, Mr. Trump has repeatedly sought to conduct business in Russia. He traveled to Moscow in 1987 to explore building a hotel. He applied for his trademark in the country as early as 1996. And his children and associates have met with Russian developers and government officials on multiple occasions in search of joint ventures.

Andrew McCabe, a former acting and deputy FBI director who had drawn the ire of President Trump, was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions late Friday evening, a decision that raises troubling questions about the independence of both the Justice Department and the FBI.

G-man down. And for good reason. President Trump put it succinctly in a tweet yesterday: “As the House Intelligence Committee has concluded, there was no collusion between Russia and the Trump Campaign. As many are now finding out, however, there was tremendous leaking, lying and corruption at the highest levels of the FBI, Justice & State,” adding a “#DrainTheSwamp” for good measure. The president is right and Andrew McCabe finally ran out of luck Friday night when Attorney General Jeff Sessions gave him his walking papers.

There was collusion in the election of 2016. It involved Russians, a British ex-spy, law firms, FBI agents, DOJ attorneys, an FBI director that prejudged evidence, an Attorney General that had an unethical meeting with the spouse of a target, FISA warrants obtained on faulty information that stemmed from political sources, a Deputy Director whose wife received monetary support in an election, an FBI director who lied to Congress, an FBI Deputy Director who lied to the Justice Department’s Inspector General, loads of classified materials that were mishandled and criminally passed to those without clearances, and partisan hacks spearheading inquiries...

A Republican running for the Maine state legislature is dropping out of the race following criticism for calling one of the survivors of last month's mass shooting at a Florida high school a "skinhead lesbian." Leslie Gibson announced on Friday that he was ending his campaign for the Maine House of Representatives, the Portland Press Herald reported. The former candidate said he made the decision after talking it over with friends and family, calling it "the best thing for everybody." "I am not walking away with my head hung low. I am walking away with my head held high," Gibson...

That's one way of protesting Andrew McCabe's firing as deputy FBI director, roughly a day before he was set to retire: At least one Democratic congressman has offered McCabe a temporary job so he can get full retirement benefits — and McCabe appears to be considering. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) announced Saturday afternoon that he has offered McCabe a job to work on election security in his office, “so that he can reach the needed length of service” to retire. Rep.
