Washington -- Two weeks from today, we shall know who is to be our next president. Or perhaps we will not know who is to be our next president two weeks from today. It might take three or four weeks. It might take the laborious workings of the courts all the way up to the Supreme Court. Actually, we may never know who won the 2020 election. We might have a runoff in 2021. You think not? Well, look how screwed up the 2016 election became. The Democrats were holding out for Hillary for months. Some were holding out for...

With Amy Coney Barrett expected to join the Supreme Court as early as next week, the court’s action in a Pennsylvania voting case has heightened fears among Democrats about the court being asked to decide a post-election dispute and with it, the winner of the White House. The justices split 4-4 Monday over a Republican plea to undo a state court order and force elections officials to ignore absentee ballots received after Election Day, Nov. 3. The tie vote left the Pennsylvania court order in effect and allows mailed ballots to be counted if they are received by Nov. 6....

In a tense political climate, California is taking an unusual step and warning local election officials to prepare for disruption at polling places and potential cases of voters being intimidated or blocked from casting ballots. In a memo this week, the Secretary of State’s office reminded county election officials it is a felony for any person to possess a firearm at a voting location or in the immediate vicinity, unless authorized. It’s also illegal to threaten anyone in an attempt to discourage them from voting.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Governor Ralph Northam (D - Virginia) wants to see the Commonwealth end its recognition of Lee-Jackson Day. Celebrated in Virginia on the Friday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day each January, Lee-Jackson Day honors Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. "I don't think there's any secret that it's in honor of two individuals who fought to prolong slavery which is not a proud aspect of Virginia's history," Governor Northam said Monday after announcing his support for a proposal to establish Election Day as a new state holiday. "I think we need to move forward and...

One Year From Today... Is Election Day 2020. Let's speak life and prayers over our President, his administration, our Congress, our Supreme Court, and all state and local houses of governance. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. -Habakkuk 2:3-4

Reporting from NH: Heavier than expected turnout so far. Looks like GOP voters. Spread the word. And can someone get a live thread going?

Today is Election Day, and while there are only two states with legislative elections, there are still plenty of races on ballots around the country that could have a big impact on gun owners. In Virginia, every seat in the state legislature is up for grabs, and gun control groups have been pouring millions of dollars in advertising into more than a dozen races in both chambers, hoping to flip just a couple of seats in the state House and Senate. If anti-gun groups are successful, Virginia could soon see new gun control laws like a so-called “assault weapons ban”,...

SANDUSKY, Ohio - The city of Sandusky will no longer recognize Columbus Day as an official holiday. Instead of having the day as a paid holiday, city workers will have off on Election Day. City officials said they decided to make the switch for two reasons. It prioritizes voting. The move also recognizes Columbus Day’s controversial origins. “What better way to celebrate the value of our employees and citizens than by removing barriers for them to participate in the greatest of American innovations, our democracy,” the city said on Facebook.

On election night, the Republican Party lost 26 seats in the House, a serious erosion but not a catastrophic one. But two weeks later, seven races that had been called for Republicans switched and the Democrats were certified to have won. All seven were in California and no seats moved the other way — from blue to red. ... The state’s Democrats engineered a massive piece of legal fraud to jimmy the results. ... California sends ballots to every voter before Election Day, whether they request it or not. All the voter needs to do is to fill in his...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the incoming U.S. representative from New York City, has an idea that could make voting easier: Take Columbus Day off the federal holiday list and replace it with Election Day. In a tweet Saturday, the progressive Democrat wondered why Columbus Day is a federal holiday while Election Day, when we engage in perhaps our most important civic duty, is not. Columbus Day, after all, celebrates a man who never actually set foot in what is now the United States and who certainly did not “discover” America. Daily Mail editor David Martosko tried to make a joke about Ocasio-Cortez...

I’m not one to insist people vote, part of being in a free society is the freedom to not participate and I’ve been a non-participator in many of society’s rituals. I only attended a pep rally in high school (because I was performing in it) and no sporting events because school spirit always annoyed me; I didn’t attend my college graduation because I looked at it as a waste of time, but I’ve always voted because I wanted to know I registered my opinions the one time every two years they really matter. A lot of times I was motivated...

I give a brief overview of the field of play before tomorrow's elections. Examining the role of investigative journalism in exposing subjects the mainstream media would rather be clouded in a fog of confusion.

Progressive/left protesters love Street Theatre and never leave home without it From the moment they arrive at America’s southern border, all members of the immigrant caravan/caravans will go down in history as the ‘2018 Election Day Invasion of America’ because in truth that’s exactly what they’ll be. Count on the invaders arriving any time between now and early tomorrow so that they can best impact Midterm Elections, where Democrats and Republicans are now running neck-and-neck in some too-close-to-call battles.

It's primary election Day In Minnesota! All summer long the Republicans and Democrats have been slugging it out statewide to see who'll represent their party in November. Depending on where you live, you may have a contested primary for state rep. I do in House District 55A (Shakopee), a southwestern metro suburb. It's been a somewhat bitter affair as there's an attempt to oust a two-term GOP rep who's voted with the Dems a few too many times for his own good. I'm voting for Tim Pawlenty for Governor. Yeah, I'm not terribly impressed with him but he stands a...

Wednesday, Nov. 8 marks the one-year anniversary of the 2016 election. On that day, voters took to the polls to vote for their next president, and the majority picked Hillary Clinton. But because of the Electoral College, Donald Trump won in a huge shock. Well, first daughter Ivanka Trump shared some Election Day photos on Instagram this Nov. 8 to recount how she, her family, and the Trump campaign spent that historic day. (Although, technically speaking, Donald Trump was not announced as the winner of the election until Nov. 9, and yes, I'll nitpick.) In case you've blocked the day...

Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin looked across the city of Newark on election Day and told InsiderNJ that he sees “brisk turnout” in the county with the largest raw rolls of Democratic voters among all counties. Durkin said he believes this gubernatorial election will likely reflect the largest numbers in recent gubernatorial election history. Reports out of Maplewood and Montclair reflect solid numbers. ” I see it bigger than all those elections,” Durkin said. “I think we could see the highest turnout for governor in the last 40 years in Essex, but it won’t show by percentage.” That’s because in...

"The trip began a day before the election, and Mr. Kerry had confidently predicted a Hillary Clinton victory." Ah! It was the best of times, it was the best of times. Not a hint that anything could possibly ruin the upbeat mood of what was essentially an Election Day victory lap by Secretary of State John Kerry and his merry band of liberals to the bottom of the world. Fortunately, for the eternal amusement of posterity, New York Times science reporter Justin Gillis was on hand to record the tragicomic scene. First let us begin as he notes the jubilant visitors touring Antarctica...

-excerpt- November 8 will be a paid holiday for workers at General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Square, Hearst Publishing, Patagonia, mattress company Casper and digital media company Thrillist. While there is no federal law requiring workers get time off to vote, state laws vary on what’s required. For instance, some offer paid leave for a set amount of time to vote. Others offer unpaid leave and some require workers give adequate notice before taking leave to vote.
