A little over a year ago, I wrote that my choice for President would be Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, assuming nothing changed along the way. A lot has changed, but my choice has not. I also made the decision that I would vote for Ted Cruz regardless of who the GOP decided to nominate, but over time, I knew I, at least, had to consider a viable second alternative. Unfortunately, out of a field of 17 candidates, there was little to choose from. Let me be clear, it takes more than an R by your name to get my vote....

The trial is underway for a former Democratic official and a Board of Elections worker who are accused of being part of a plot that has raised questions over whether President Obama's campaign -- when he was a candidate in 2008 -- submitted enough legitimate signatures to have legally qualified for the presidential primary ballot. The two face charges of orchestrating an illegal scheme to fake the petitions that enabled then-candidates Obama, and Hillary Clinton, to qualify for the race in Indiana. Former longtime St. Joseph County Democratic Party Chairman Butch Morgan Jr. faces multiple felony conspiracy counts to commit...

WASHINGTON - House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has called for votes this week on gun control and same-sex marriage measures, a move that appears to be designed to force Democrats in tight congressional races to record positions that could work against them in November. The House is expected to vote today on whether to overturn a 28-year ban on handguns in the District of Columbia. Thursday, lawmakers will consider a proposed constitutional amendment that would define marriage as a union between "a man and a woman." It is part of a Republican effort to bar federal and state judges from...

Dear Sen. Kerry: In the interests of your campaign and your party's desire to unseat George W. Bush, you have some explaining to do. During the primary campaign, your Democratic opponents accused you of flip-flopping on several important issues, such as your vote in favor of the Iraq War resolution. Certainly your sensitivity to nuance, your ability to see shades of gray where George Bush sees only black and white, explains some of your difficulty. Shades of gray don't do well in political campaigns, where primary colors are the rule. And your long and distinguished service in the Senate has...
