Protest organiser Yvette Felarca defended the demonstration, describing the actions of students as "self-defence". "We have the right to defend ourselves," she said, adding: "This shutting down Milo Yiannopoulos, and doing whatever's necessary to do that, is our right to self-defence."

Did Complex Flight Feathers "Emerge"? Evolution News & Views February 2, 2017 2:34 AM | Permalink Here's a thought experiment. Consider something you know is intelligently designed: for example, software code for an app that flies a drone. Now let's describe its "emergence" in Darwinian langauge: Once assembly language emerged, it diversified into logic gates of increasing complexity, as crawling robots co-opted various functions for novel adaptations, including powered flight. The coding mechanism driving this spectacular process remains unclear. Through morphological analysis of robots in various stages of development, we identify two logic gates that act as major controllers for...

How to Spot a Fake Science News Story By Alex Berezow After more than six years in science journalism, I have reached two very disturbing conclusions about the craft.First, too many science journalists don't actually possess a well-rounded knowledge of science. In many cases, regular reporters are asked to cover complex science and health stories. What we end up with is entirely predictable: Articles that are nothing more than rehashed press releases, topped with click-bait headlines based on exaggerations and misunderstandings of the original research. That's how a nonsensical story like Nutella causing cancer goes viral. Second, science journalists are every bit...

For years male students wore red robes, and female students wore white robes to graduation at Elyria High School. Red and white are the school colors, but that’s changing for graduation this spring. The change happened after a group of students went to the principal on behalf of a student who was born female but does not identify as male or female. Wanting to be inclusive, school official switched to gender neutral robes. Now, all students will wear red robes. …

Oh, this is brilliantly indignant. Stay with it, I don’t want to ruin the Farage proposition to the EU globalist corruptocrats by spoiling the best part.

At Age 180, Darwin’s Theory of Evolution a Materialist House of Cards By Tom BethellLittle known fact: The year 2017 is likely the 180th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. If that number sounds high, it’s because while Darwin had worked out his theory of evolution by 1837, he didn’t go public with it until 1858.Why the delay? Evolution itself wasn’t the problem. Earlier in the century, it was openly discussed. Darwin’s own grandfather had broached the subject. The problem, according paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould, was that Darwin’s theory of evolution was distinguished from others by its materialism.Previous writings...

“Well a lot of times my pants sag because I don’t wear a belt,” Stroggins said in an interview at the Dallas County jail. “A lot of times I get accused of those things and it don't be true.”

Why The Left Will Never Stop Despairing Over TrumpLeftism has the characteristics of religious dogma, and so isn’t allowed by its first principles to fathom good other than through revolutionary, government action. Let’s do a little thought experiment. Suppose that, after some soul-searching, the Left went through this three-stage process, which I’ve contextualized through the coming health-care debate.1. They Realize ‘History’ Isn’t a Thing, and ‘The People’ Can’t Be Trusted. Leftists have always suggested the arc of History bends in their direction. It’s a Hegelian idea: as each consciousness awakens to the inherent truth of a leftist ideal, a critical...

In addition to owning multiple homes and a luxury yacht, he spends $30,000 a month on wine, travels by private jet and maintains 12 storage facilities housing his fine art and memorabilia collections. That's according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday by his former managers who are asking a judge to rule that the actor has no-one but himself to blame for his financial troubles. 'Depp lived an ultra-extravagant lifestyle that often knowingly cost Depp in excess of $2 million per month to maintain, which he simply could not afford,' attorney Michael Kump wrote in the cross-complaint. 'Depp, and Depp alone,...

When the town sponsored a student essay contest on the topic of white privilege, it was intended to provoke discussion in this wealthy, overwhelmingly white community on Connecticut's Gold Coast. It did, along with no small amount of outrage. Contest organizers have been surprised by the reaction from some who say the question wrongly suggests race plays into the good life enjoyed in Westport. Residents like Bari Reiner, 72, say the question is offensive because the town welcomes anybody who can afford to live here. "It's an open town," Reiner said. "There are no barricades here. Nobody says if you're...

Earth’s magnetic field surrounds our planet like an invisible force field - protecting life from harmful solar radiation by deflecting charged particles away. Far from being constant, this field is continuously changing. Indeed, our planet's history includes at least several hundred global magnetic reversals, where north and south magnetic poles swap places. So when’s the next one happening and how will it affect life on Earth? During a reversal the magnetic field won’t be zero, but will assume a weaker and more complex form. It may fall to 10 percent of the present-day strength and have magnetic poles at the...

A teacher who displayed the Confederate flag to middle schoolers in his history class was forced to retire amid concerns that he was displaying a symbol of hate. 70-year-old Sutter Middle School (Folsom, CA) teacher Woody Hart hanged both a Confederate flag and a Union flag during his lesson on the Civil War. In a public statement (via the Sacramento Bee), Folsom Cordova Unified School District made suggested that he may have hung up the flag for some reason other than to teach the history lesson. “We recognize that regardless of context, to many of our students, families, and staff,...

Why do Democrats behave the way they do? That's a question that probably ever Conservative has asked at one time or another. They sure don't vote like we do. That was very evident in the last election. As the mind controls the body, we can infer that Democrats thus think differently than we do. The big question is, "What are Democrats thinking that would cause them to vote for the Democrat candidate instead of the Conservative candidate?" There have been many ideas put forward to explain Democrat voting behavior. One thought is that they vote the way their parents voted....

Michael Klarman talked about his book The Framers' Coup: The Making of the United States Constitution, in which he recalls the drafting of the U.S. Constitution, from its tenuous start, according to the author the Philadelphia convention almost didn’t occur, to the many competing interests and internal debates that marked the Constitution’s creation. Michael Klarman spoke with Patrick Spero at the National Constitution Center.

Government workers who have leave time are a large portion of the protesters. If the media would do its job, we would have documentation.
