ATHENS, Ga. (AP) – Police say a fearful 11-year-old Georgia girl who took a knife to school told officers she needed the weapon to fend off clowns. The Athens Banner-Herald reports the girl was arrested Friday at Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School in Athens amid reports and social media posts about clowns frightening children in Georgia and other states. An Athens-Clarke County police report states the girl said she needed the knife to protect her and her family because she had heard the stories about clowns jumping out of the woods and attacking children.

Life has a way of testing your mental strength when you least expect it. The true sign of mental strength doesn’t lie in what you do; it’s what you don’t and absolutely won’t do. The greater the challenge, the more difficult it is to respond with mental fortitude. It’s hard to be mentally strong, especially when you feel stuck. The ability to break the mold and take a bold new direction requires that extra grit, daring, and spunk that only the mentally strongest people have. Thomas Edison provides an interesting example. When his factory burned to the ground in 1914,...

In the leftist realm of insults, there’s nothing more cliche than calling one’s enemy “Hitler.” Aside from how lazy it is, a socialist-leaning leftist calling anyone else “Hitler” is rich. Ironically speaking. For election 2016, creative-insult-deprived leftist twits have familiarly reached into their bag of tricks, comparing Donald Trump to “Hitler.” The etymologically-challenged even call Trump “Literally Hitler.” Gawd. Except no. If there’s a candidate whose polices resemble Hitler’s, it isn’t Trump. It’s Hillary. Yes, really. VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7LWJaBFIFw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYQDSQM0Mb4 Saint Maurice's feast day is on the 22nd of September. (Two days from right now.) So for my Catholic and Coptic viewers, I present to you, this diddy on the life and martyrdom of St Maurice. Saint Maurice (also Moritz, Morris, or Mauritius) was the leader of the legendary Roman Theban Legion n the 3rd century, and one of the favorite and most widely venerated saints of that group. He was the patron saint of several professions, locales, and kingdoms. He is revered in the Catholic Coptic and Orthodox churches. He is the patron saint of soldiers, veterans, armorers,...

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Donald Trump will hold a rally at the Millis Center on High Point University's campus Tuesday. It starts at noon and the doors open at 10 a.m. "This has sparked such a debate amongst the students that it's been really awesome to see," says Julia Fiedler, a sophomore at HPU. That debate is not over Trump's economic plan or his views on immigration. Instead, it's about whether he should even be allowed on campus. "I'm a little disappointed in High Point University for allowing him to be here because I think of this environment as one...

ARLINGTON -- During her sophomore year at Arlington High School, Lexi Vier was told she had to take a foreign language class to fulfill graduation requirements. She made a decision that now could have a significant impact on her higher education once she graduates. “I took German and fell in love with it so much,” she said. So much to the point she was elected president of the German Club. As graduation approaches, she is looking in a direction more and more Americans have considered in recent years. College in Germany. And perhaps more intriguing -- college for free. As...

University of California, Berkeley administrators on Monday reinstated a Palestinian history class amid an outcry over its suspension last week. The school’s social science dean announced in letter to faculty that the ethnic studies class was reinstated after the teacher revised the course description. Social science dean Carla Hesse suspended “Palestine: A Colonial Settler Analysis” after receiving a complaint from Jewish and civil rights groups that the course syllabus appeared to describe a politically motivated, anti-Semitic class. Hesse suspended the class, saying it wasn’t properly vetted to ensure it wasn’t espousing a single political viewpoint. The suspension triggered protests from...

It’s the start of a new year on university campuses, and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., was quick out of the gate with the latest contribution to the pandemic of gender hysteria. An initiative launched by the university’s Faculty Senate Gender Inclusivity Task Force urged faculty members to politely quiz students and colleagues on how they prefer to be addressed: as he, she, ze, zir or hir. “When introducing yourself, offer your name and pronoun,” it advised, suggesting they start off lectures with: “I am Professor Jones and I use she/her/hers pronouns. What should I call you?” It also provided...

As a Gonzaga student and a journalist, I am very confused about the hiring of Dr. Melissa Click to work in the communication studies department. Our mission statement says we are devoted to social justice and encouraging ethical discernment, reflective thought and leadership. So I am wondering how this decision keeps with our Catholic, Jesuit and humanistic heritage. Click is someone who attempted to stifle the coverage of protests regarding racial inequality by trying to stop professional and student journalists from spreading the news of what was happening at the University of Missouri. I question her motives and ethical discernment...

Facing a crowd of about 100 people in support of renaming School 34 in honor of President Obama, the Jersey City school board last night reversed its opposition to the move and advanced a measure approving of the name change. "We did it and we did it TOGETHER!" Assemblywoman Angela McKnight, who led the effort to name the Kennedy Boulevard school after the president, wrote on Facebook last night after the vote. If the renaming is formalized next month as expected, Obama would be the second president whose name graces a Jersey City school. Lincoln High School is named for the nation's...

At a meeting Wednesday night, residents of Saint-Denis-de-Cabanne reacted angrily to news that migrants are to be housed in a waterfront castle that serves the French town as a holiday centre. The meeting followed a leaked document which revealed that, with the so-called “jungle” camp at Calais due to be demolished, the French government is planning to disperse migrants across the country. Between 50 and 100 migrants, none of them families, are due to arrive in the town of less than 1,300 people in November. Residents of Saint-Denis-de-Cabanne, near Roanne in the Loire, were informed of the arrangements via a...

Rice didn't beat Baylor on the football field when the two Texas schools met Friday night. But that didn't stop the school's marching band from having a little fun at their rival's expense during halftime. The Marching Owl Band mocked Baylor for the multiple sexual assault allegations that rocked the program earlier this year. The furor led to the firing of head coach Art Briles, as well as the demotion, and the eventual resignation, of university president Ken Starr.

Werthmann lived under Nazi rule through the war, and strongly feels the need to warn Americans about the horrors of socialism. Werthmann said that Adolf Hitler spoke just like an American politician. She says: When the people fear the government, that's tyranny, but when the government fears the people, that's Liberty! Sighting Switzerland's policy where citizens are required to own guns, Hitler did not attempt to invade...
