Television actor Ken Osmond died May 18, and if the name is not familiar, the memorable character he created probably is. On television’s “Leave It to Beaver,” he portrayed Eddie Haskell, the sarcastic nemesis to the title character, Beaver Cleaver, and the best friend of Beaver’s older brother, Wally. Eddie Haskell is one of the best archetype television characters ever created — the mischievous “kiss-up, kick-down” smart aleck. He would flatter Beaver’s mom in the kitchen (“Your hair looks lovely today, Mrs. Cleaver”), then go upstairs and verbally abuse Beaver. He was always oversolicitous to adults, who invariably saw through...

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell drew fire from Republicans after he released a new ad claiming the GOP wants women to get arrested for having abortions. The ad opens with a family sitting around the dinner table and a knock at the door. Two cops stand outside claiming to have a warrant for the mother's arrest for 'unlawful termination of a pregnancy.' 'That's my personal business,' the woman says. 'That's for the courts to decide,' the police said. The mother is then arrested at gunpoint while her children are crying and her husband protests. 'Elections have consequences. Vote Democrat on November...

Ben Shapiro believes the government has the right to force you to take a COVID-19 vaccine. Tom Pappert by TOM PAPPERT March 20, 2021During the March 18 episode of his radio show, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro made the case for mandatory vaccination. When a caller asked Shapiro about the use of fetal baby DNA, and about the vaccine companies not having any liability and having access to a special government-sponsored payout system for those who sustain critical injuries or die because of vaccines, Shapiro made the case for mandating them anyway.Shapiro claimed that personal liberty only counts when it comes...

He played the notorious troublemaker on two versions of the show; in between, he was a motorcycle cop for the LAPD. "He was an incredibly kind and wonderful father," his son said Monday in a statement. "He had his family gathered around him when he passed. He was loved and will be very missed." Osmond was 14 in 1957 when he hired for what was supposed to be a one-episode gig and went on to appear on 96 of the original series' 234 installments over six seasons. When Leave It to Beaver returned with an updated version in 1983, he...

I'd just like to thank the Admin Moderators on this website, whom I believe do a very good job (even though I was chastised on one of my earliest posts, because I didn't yet understand what the thread designation 'caucus' meant :-)

Gosh, Senator Cleaver, your questions are so insightful and interesting that I wish this confirmation hearing could go on forever! Unless a nominee is a complete idiot, he (or she) will be incredibly polite during his confirmation hearings in the U.S. Senate. It is hardly the place to display a Fonzi (Happy Days) attitude. However, Dana Milbank in the March 21 Washington Post suggests that the politeness demonstrated by Neil Gorsuch during his confirmation hearing for Supreme Court justice could be insincere thus making him a judicial version of Eddie Haskell from Leave It to Beaver. If you are one of the...

Way back when President Obama was “likable” and Mitt Romney wasn’t and the media were delighted to harp on the topic, Republicans would acknowledge, “Yup, he has a rotten record, but the voters sure do like him.” They’d then shake their heads and express amazement. “Why do they like him?” Republicans, by and large, never did. They saw in Obama the intellectual lightweight of the sort they saw in school, the fellow who thought himself the smartest guy in the room and wasn’t particularly nice or kind or even funny. This was the guy who told Hillary Clinton she was...

New York Times columnist David Brooks is the Eddie Haskell of the Fourth Estate. Like the two-faced sycophant in "Leave It to Beaver," Brooks indulges in excessive politeness while currying favor with political authority. He prides himself on an oily semblance of maturity and rational discourse. But the phony "conservative" back-stabber, who has spent the last four years slavering over Barack Obama like a One Direction groupie and trashing the tea party like an MSNBC junkie, isn't fooling anyone. Lately, Brooks has been given to dispensing passive-aggressive advice to GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney. His column this week titled "Thurston...

LOS ANGELES — The actor who played Eddie Haskell on TV's "Leave It to Beaver" is suing the Screen Actors Guild, claiming the union is sitting on $8.1 million it collected from foreign royalties and should distribute to actors. Ken Osmond filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court accusing SAG of unjust enrichment and violations of the state's business code. The lawsuit seeks class-action status on behalf of at least 30,000 actors and others. A call to a SAG spokeswoman seeking comment was not returned Wednesday. Osmond contends that since at least 1996, SAG has collected royalties...

Some of Bill Clinton's friends and teachers remember the Arkansas native as a charismatic standout destined for greatness, while others recall the young Clinton was a shy boy whose clarinet playing left something to be desired. Such first impressions -- along with memories of growing up in the still-segregated South -- are among the text of 28 interviews documenting the former president's early years in Hope and Hot Springs. The interviews, which were released Tuesday by the Pryor Center for Arkansas Oral and Visual History, are part of a project that aims to make Clinton the most documented president ever....

Democrat party officials are struggling to contain the amount of anti-Bush and anti-war comments to be delivered this week during the convention in Boston, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. DNC chair Terry McAuliffe has expressed concern that nonstop Bush bashing from the podium could quickly spiral out of control and backfire. DNC staffers have also been told to be on the lookout for "unreasonable" Bush bashing signs held by delegates on the convention floor which could be highlighted on television. "We are not Michael Moore," McAuliffe has told his top staffers, according to a well-placed source. "Let's tell the voters...
