Ssshhhhh! Can you hear it? Can you hear the outcry and news reports about all of the professional athletes dropping after being vaccinated? Me neither. In fact, you probably didn’t even know about all of them. Over 60 athletes are either sidelined or dead in less than a year and the silence is deafening. It is time for Christians individually and corporately to repent for the way we and our institutions responded to the COVID-19 outbreak.Blaming people for contracting a catchy virus has been one of many widely deployed COVID manipulation tactics. That has shifted into blaming people for dying of a catchy virus after they decided their risks from taking the vaccines outweighed their risks from catching the disease.Shaming people for dying by accident is a bit twisted, but it might make sense if you believe life is over once a person stops breathing, and so cling to the illusion of human control...

OSHA is reportedly getting ready to issue the vaccine mandate President Biden asked them to create. This action is unprecedented on several levels. Using OSHA’s emergency powers to avoid the administrative law procedures that include a public comment period is dubious at best. To issue an Emergency Temporary Standard, “OSHA must determine that workers are in grave danger due to exposure to toxic substances or agents determined to be toxic or physically harmful or to new hazards and that an emergency standard is needed to protect them.”div class="thm-piano-mop-premium">Does COVID-19 meet that standard? The current infection fatality rates (IFR) for Americans...

No way in hell you are going to put a wok on an electric stove.”That was Steven Lee, a San Francisco official and restaurant investor, as quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle last year after the city’s Board of Supervisors voted to outlaw natural gas in new buildings.Nevertheless, they persisted. Per the Sierra Club, the quickening campaign to phase out natural gas recently notched its 50th city-level win in California alone. (Take a bow, Encinitas!) No. 50, as with some others, has “situational exemptions” for restaurants and the like, but the overall push to compel an all-electric design for homes...

Make a Wish Foundation: Sorry, critically ill children who aren't fully vaccinated, no wishes for you. Oh, and that includes the rest of your family. Aren't eligible for the vaccine? Tough luck. Have a good day.

Twelve times as many people are now dying of cancer than from Covid-19. Figures show that 36 people on average died each day from coronavirus over the past week, down from a peak seven-day average of 1,280 in mid-January. By comparison, cancer is claiming 450 lives every day, or about 166,000 annually.

George F. Will once said that without William F. Buckley there would have been no National Review; without National Review, no Goldwater; without Goldwater, no Reagan; and without Reagan, no fall of the Berlin Wall. Ergo, William F. Buckley ushered in the collapse of the Soviet Union. Today we might draw a direct line from Rush Limbaugh, to Donald Trump, and from Donald Trump to the remaking of the conservative movement, and from the remaking of the conservative movement to... we’ll have to see. What will their legacy be? We would like to hope it will include free speech.Limbaugh credited...

A new study suggests your consciousness carries on after your heart stops beating. WE know we are dead when we die because our brains keep working to make us aware of what's happening around us, haunting new research suggests. Top medical experts have forever been at loggerheads over what happens when humans die, with anecdotal evidence of bright lights and flashes reported by people who have 'come back' being the cause of much debate. However a new study suggests your consciousness carries on functioning after your heart stops beating and your body movements fail. This means you are essentially 'trapped'...

When the Eagles visited the Chargers of Los Angeles — previously of San Diego – earlier this season, it was essentially a home game for Philadelphia. Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers said the 26-24 loss to the Birds was "not a home game" because of the overwhelming green majority in the stands. Apparently, FOX is cognizant of this likely happening when the Rams of Los Angeles — previously of St. Louis – play the Eagles on Sunday (barring a wildfire postponement). FOX is doubling down on this game, which features two NFC contenders and fits in the semi-primetime slot of 4:25...

As a divinity school student, I had just started working as a student chaplain at a cancer hospital when my professor asked me about my work.>SNIP< "I talk to the patients," I told him. "You talk to patients? And tell me, what do people who are sick and dying talk to the student chaplain about?" he asked.>SNIP< They talk about the love they felt, and the love they gave. Often they talk about love they did not receive, or the love they did not know how to offer, the love they withheld, or maybe never felt for the ones they...

There have been a lot of stories over the past few years about doctors and nurses treating veterans terribly at Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals around the nation. Tragically, this sort of horrible behavior isn’t just limited to VA clinics. There are several instances where veterans were treated horribly at other institutions. A veteran at the Northeast Atlanta Health and Rehabilitation nursing home died in 2014. What makes this case truly sick is that the veteran was calling for help, and was ignored, WXIA reported this week. When a nurse did finally enter the room and found the patient, James...

NEW BRAVOS, TX (WCMH) – An Army veteran in Arizona with a terminal illness has a unique final wish. Lee Hernandez is currently in hospice care in his home. According to the Arizona Republic, he has continuous strokes that affect his vision and cognitive abilities. Doctors can do nothing more for him except make him comfortable. Lee served more than 18 years in the Army, including a tour in Iraq. Earlier this week, he asked his wife to let him hold his phone, “in case someone calls,” according to a post on the Arizona Veterans Forum.

Did a Planetary Society citizen scientist help find one of Earth’s biggest impact craters? About 66 million years ago, a 10-kilometer-wide hunk of rock smashed into Earth near what is now Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. The impact created a global dust cloud that snuffed out the sunlight, leading to the demise of 80 percent of Earth's plants and animals—including most of the dinosaurs. A 200-kilometer-wide crater buried near the city of Chicxulub is all that's left. It's ground zero for one of the world's most notable extinction events. But throughout Earth's history, there have actually been five major extinction events. The largest of...

Woody Allen, when asked for his opinion about death, replied, “I don’t worry about dying, I just don’t want to be there when it happens!” Unfortunately, Allen will be there and so will the rest of us. This week, why I have a personal interest in the end of life. And what can we all do to provide the best of care to loved ones near death?

On the Paradoxical Beauty of Dying Msgr. Charles Pope • November 6, 2016 • As most of you know, the Washington, D.C. City Council recently took a step toward legalizing physician-assisted suicide for those with less than six months to live.Although I have written elsewhere about the dangerous implications of this legislation, in today’s post I want to stand up for the dying, at home and in nursing homes, the fully lucid and those with advanced Alzheimer’s, those who are moving toward death relatively painlessly and those who are suffering. As a priest, it has been my privilege to accompany...

Death awaits all of us, but how patiently? To unlock the mystery of when we’re going to die, start with an actuary. Members of this 200-year-old profession who study risk and uncertainty pore over the data of death to estimate length of life. Putting aside the spiritual, that’s crucial information for insurance companies and pension plans, and it’s also helpful for planning retirement, since we need our money to last as long we do. The latest, best guesses for U.S. lifespans come from a study (PDF) released this month by the Society of Actuaries: The average 65-year-old American man should...

Why does Hillary Clinton continue lying and covering up her various activities, whether it is her pneumonia, or the fact that she regularly sent and received classified information on a private, unsecured server, or that she traded favors, influence and access as secretary of state for large payments to her husband or her family’s foundation? It is because if she told the truth, she would never be elected president, and would almost certainly end up behind bars. When asked why she decided to keep secret the medical diagnosis she received on Friday, she told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Monday night...
