Every so often, a public figure will speak a sentence that succinctly sums up his or her entire worldview in just a few words, exposing the core belief that is the wellspring of his or her every position on matters of consequence. Consider, for instance, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s recent assertion: "If we [the U.S. military] leave Iraq, then the insurgents will leave Iraq, the terrorists will leave Iraq." That sentence tells us virtually everything we really need to know about the workings of Nancy Pelosi’s mind.

Republican leaders say the Secretary of State should consider resigning. It's the latest in a controversy over voter registration cards. Here's the issue. On the top of the form it asks the person if he or she is a U.S. Citizen. A check in the box is required. Toward the bottom of the form the same question is asked. This time the person must sign his or her name. Here in Iowa some 350 people forgot to check the box but they did sign their name on the form. This one's pretty light-hearted, and shows the peaceniks' astonishment when they found out that Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Madeline Albright John Kerry, et al, considered Saddam to be a TRUE THREAT and that he HAD WMD's.
