This is crazy. it will be killed on arrival. Why are smart people advancing this notion? Let it go. The election is over. https://t.co/ocvaAYnata— Jeb Bush (@JebBush) December 10, 2020---------------------“Texas could not even get its Solicitor General — the man who argues on behalf of the state before the Supreme Court — to sign onto the lawsuit.” https://t.co/whV4KjkvoS— Frank Luntz (@FrankLuntz) December 10, 2020

Much of the media is treating the end of Jeb Bush's campaign as a moment to eulogize the Bush family dynasty. Some are trampling on the family grave, while others are being a bit nostalgic. But in most of these pieces, an ember of hope for the legacy is missing. There's a fourth generation already in office in Texas - Jeb's own son, George Prescott. George P. is getting some attention on social media, where pundits have pointed out that maybe it's too soon to call an end to the Bush family involvement in presidential politics.

Many media outlets proclaimed that the Bush Family dynasty was over when Jeb Bush suspended his presidential campaign. The 63-year-old Bush announced he was dropping out last Feb. 20 after getting disappointing results in South Carolina. -snip- So is the Bush family dynasty really over? Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel has a very interesting take with a Bush family member probably becoming president in 2024. Who is George P. Bush? George Prescott Bush is the son of Jeb Bush named after his grandfather George H.W. Bush and great-grandfather Prescott Bush. He is currently serving as the Commissioner of the Texas...

Jeb Bush should have listened to his mother. "We've had enough Bushes," Barbara Bush said nearly three years ago, cautioning against her second son's presidential candidacy by presciently pronouncing the epitaph for his forthcoming bid. -snip- But like most American dynasties, another generation is always on the horizon. While Bush crowds loved seeing matriarch Barbara boost her son despite initial doubts, they delighted in glimpsing the young man already emerging as the next generation's standard bearer: Jeb's son, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush.

Momma says knock Trump out! Jeb Bush is out of the race, but he's still intent on tripping up his nemesis Donald Trump - and he has his mother's permission to do it. -snip- "Their teams are meeting right now," we're told. Our insider says that discussion involves Bush pushing his remaining $25-$30 million in super PAC money Rubio's way in exchange for a possible cabinet position. Our insider also says the Bush family wants to make sure that Jeb's run doesn't ruin his 39-year old son George P. Bush's chances of someday becoming the third Bush to hold the...

From frontrunner to failure, the progression of Jeb Bush's presidential bid saw some of the highest of highs and lowest of lows before culminating in the suspension of his campaign Saturday after a disappointing showing in the South Carolina primary. For a family that has dabbled in politics since 1950 and been described by biographer Peter Schweizer as "the most successful political dynasty in American history," the news spurs questions about who, if anyone, will carry on the Bush legacy. Was Jeb's concession of defeat the final chapter of the Bush political dynasty or could we still see a Bush...

After Jeb Bush suspended his bid for president Saturday, there was much gleeful chatter that the "Bush dynasty" was finally over. Kaput. Goodbye. In the 24 hours that followed, NBC’s "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd advised his audience, "the Bush dynasty comes to an official end." Vanity Fair published a lengthy "Requiem for the Bush dynasty," while The Atlantic ran "An elegy for the Jeb Bush Campaign." The Guardian put it this way: "Ding, dong, the dynasty is dead: So long to Jeb Bush and the family" while the New Republic declared, "And so the Bush dynasty comes to...

The owners of the popular Galveston County fishing spot known as Rollover Pass in Galveston County are accusing Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush of hypocrisy for seeking to take their land while casting himself as a champion of private property rights. The Gilchrist Community Association, which is the caretaker of the property owned by the Gulf Coast Rod, Reel and Gun Club, says it has "declared war" on the General Land Office over the contested Rollover Pass. Association president Ted Vega said Bush's actions contradict his December push in support of residents fighting the federal Bureau of Land Management...

Following a poor showing in Iowa, George P. Bush, Texas Land Commissioner and son of Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, told supporters in Michigan on Wednesday that his dad's campaign is 'built for the long term.' Bush came in sixth in Iowa Monday night with 2.8 percent of the vote. His son called the caucus results there an "aberration." -snip- The commissioner indicated that he will attend the GOP debate in New Hampshire Saturday, and has plans to travel to South Carolina, Nevada and Michigan.

When it unfolded five months ago, Jeb Bush's presidential operation in Texas displayed the hallmarks of a political behemoth, boasting money, prestigious endorsements and, most notably, ties to a famous political dynasty. Yet, just as he has nationwide, the Midland-born son and brother of two presidents from Texas has struggled to gain traction in his native state, watching from back in the pack as Ted Cruz and Donald Trump jockey for the lead among Texas Republicans. In a straw poll of Tarrant County Republicans last weekend, the former Florida governor finished sixth with 3.10 percent. Cruz placed first with nearly...

As Jeb Bush continues to lag in the polls, his backers have mounted a Texas strategy, with nearly $5 million in reserved television airtime and an organization they say is extensive and months in the making. The time has been reserved in major media markets, including Houston and San Antonio. It's enough to buy at least 10,000 television advertising spots. -snip- Henson, co-director of the UT/Texas Tribune poll, pointed out that in November trial ballots, Bush was the first choice of only 4 percent of those GOP voters and the second choice of 6 percent. While there's "a distant chance"...

There was a time when Texans proudly elected statewide officials with a certain flair that helped cement the rest of the nation's fondest impressions or worst fears about our fine state. For example, we once had a state land commissioner who carried a pistol in his boot. But that was another time, dating way, way back to last December. Now Jerry Patterson is out and George P. Bush is in as land commissioner. And last Friday, Bush's staff announced a new policy in which General Land Office employees would no longer be allowed to carry concealed weapons on the job....

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush returned Thursday to his oft-used assertion that Donald Trump "is not a serious man," suggesting that Trump's plan to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants would be a financial and logistical boondoggle and ignoring the GOP frontrunner's even more controversial plan to bar all foreign Muslims from entering the United States. Speaking at a town hall meeting, the former Florida governor, who earlier this week tweeted that Trump was "unhinged," did not address the topic that has caused an outcry and dominated the news cycle all week. Instead, he chided Trump for suggesting he would deport...

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas -- which had a 106-year custodianship of the Alamo -- is preparing for an early 2016 court date to block Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush's efforts to claim ownership of the DRT's private library collection. The collection -- which includes books, maps and other artifacts from the state's earliest days -- has been assembled and managed by the DRT since the 1950s. The General Land Office's actions have been considered by some as the government taking private property, according to a press release from the DRT. The custodianship of the Alamo was...

The battle for the Alamo's 38,000 books, maps, flags and other artifacts from the state's earliest days will reportedly continue early next year. A Feb. 22 court date has been set to determine ownership of disputed items in the library collection, managed by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas since the 1950s. The Daughters filed a lawsuit in March to block the Texas General Land Office from assuming ownership of the collection. "We're puzzled by (Land Commissioner) George P. Bush's actions during his first year in office," said Mary Goodwin, first vice president of the DRT's Mary Hall Mantooth...
