Local DRT chapter: George P. Bush overreaches in role as land commissioner (P's Alamo library grab)

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas -- which had a 106-year custodianship of the Alamo -- is preparing for an early 2016 court date to block Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush's efforts to claim ownership of the DRT's private library collection. The collection -- which includes books, maps and other artifacts from the state's earliest days -- has been assembled and managed by the DRT since the 1950s.

The General Land Office's actions have been considered by some as the government taking private property, according to a press release from the DRT. The custodianship of the Alamo was transitioned from the DRT to the state in July.

"We're puzzled by George P. Bush's actions during his first year in office," said Sandy Marble, president of the DRT's Aaron Estes Chapter. "What appeared to have been a promising career seems to be at risk due to bad judgment and his overreach in an attempt to generate publicity. We're curious as to who is advising him on his management of the state's land office, if anyone.

"In addition to his efforts to claim ownership of the Daughters' private library collection, he's been criticized for being away from the office to campaign and for firing GLO staff in order to make what some have characterized as political hires," Marble said. "It's just disappointing, and it fuels further erosion of the public's confidence in its leaders."

Looks like George P. doesn’t want a political future in the state of Texas.

If that’s true, he and I agree on at least one thing.

Henry VIII did the same thing, stealing illuminated texts from Church monasteries.
The Alamo was a chapel. George thinks he’s royalty. Same/same.
Why is George IV at work anyway? Shouldn’t he be on the campaign trail propping up old man Yeb?

Perhaps this will scuttle George P’s re-election chances. Unfortunately, crony politics rule in Texas which is how Speaker of the house Joe Straus III skates into office every two years.

LOL.

Conservatives humor is so much funnier. All the left could come up with is a image of a chimp.

“It’s just disappointing, and it fuels further erosion of the public’s confidence in its leaders.”

Well, that’s not a problem actually. The public has no confidence in it’s “leaders” to lose. Only amongst govt officials themselves is there any belief in confidence in them. And it’s all delusional.

The fact that this little scumbag even became Texas Land Commissioner is a disgrace. Jorge Prescott knows next to nothing about oil, gas, or agriculture, he spent very little time in Texas, and yet because of his family name and connections he still somehow slithered into the job.

With any luck, Jeb's drop in recent polls will not only mark the end of his political career but his La Raza posterboy son's too. Is there any doubt Jeb would have given Jorge Prescott some high-level cabinet appointment if he were to be elected?

I hope this will mark the end of Jorge P’s career in TX politics, and that he’ll find a more suitable niche as spokesman for the Council of La Raza, or better still a move to Mexico to lead the PRI party.

I won’t be voting for him. His action would be similar to Obama trying to take over the work that the Mount Vernon ladies have been doing at George Washington’s home.

Just why is he doing this?
Does he plan on selling the collection?

Jorge P. Arbusto got 61% of the 2014 vote (not mine) but hopefully this may cause him some future damage. Go back to Florida boy.
