{Written by Andrew Ferguson and originally posted to the Commentary Magazine website} As Barack Obama passes into the next phase of his stellar evolution, as the protostar of the 2004 Democratic convention fades into the planetary nebula of 2017 and a very long retirement, phrases from his presidency that once rang in my ears grow dimmer by the day. To tell the truth, there’s not a lot of them. For a man with such a reputation for eloquence, he leaves behind little quotable material from his presidential years. Yes, generations from now schoolchildren will still be reciting “If you like...

Ignorance of the Russian language put a French MP into a very confusing situation. When in the Crimea, the French MP bought a T-shirt with a notorious slogan "Obama, you're a douchebag" written in Russian on it (pic of the shirt here). The MP did not even think that there could be obscene language used on the shirt with an image of Russian and US presidents. "It was the photo of Putin and Obama that attracted my attention, and I could not even assume that there was an offensive word used on it. I learned about it only an hour...

Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, has now spoken out about her son's troubles, insisting the public should not criticize the 19 year old if he appears to be struggling. In quotes published by Britain's...

Anyone who expected Vice President Biden to yuk it up with "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart on Tuesday night was sorely disappointed. There were no goofs, gaffes or slips of the tongue of the kind that have gotten Biden in trouble during his career. Instead, the vice president was mostly vice presidential. Smiling often and clearly at ease, Biden, led by Stewart's questions, focused on defending the Obama administration's ambitious policies from resuscitating the economy to health care reform. But Biden, the first sitting vice president to appear on the show, did manage to set Stewart up for a...

Yesterday, 13 of our own troops were killed and 30 others were injured in Fort Hood, Texas at a secure U.S. Army base and the president is nowhere to be seen. This doesn't even surprise us, but for the people who still support Obama, you now further understand why we call you 'idiots.' Signs of Trinity church, Black Liberation Theology, Bill Ayers and Marxist professors? Hmmm.... After all, President Obama seemed to make it to Manhattan last month when Goldman Sachs, his number one Wall Street campaign contributor along with several other shadow banking firms attended an expensive DNC fundraiser...

On October 30, atheist Christopher Hitchens appeared on Dennis Miller’s Internet radio show condemning Mother Teresa, yet again. Here is one of his choice statements: “The woman was a fanatic and a fundamentalist and a fraud, and millions of people are much worse off because of her life, and it’s a shame there is no hell for your bitch to go to.” Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded today: I once told Hitchens that one of the real reasons he hates Mother Teresa has to do with his socialist ideology: he believes the state should care for the poor, not...

Ruled teen's blog post created a created "foreseeable risk of substantial disruption" President Barack Obama’s nominee to fill a Supreme Court vacancy has yet another tie to Connecticut. She sided against a student in the infamous “douche bag” case, and that has upset some free-speech advocates. In August 2007, Judge Sonia Sotomayor sat on a panel that ruled against an appeal in Doninger v. Niehoff. Avery Doninger was disqualified from running for school government at Lewis S. Mills High School in Burlington after she posted something on her blog, referring to the superintendent and other officials as "douche bags" because...

Governor Deval Patrick has decided against taking action to allow illegal immigrants to pay resident tuition and fees at state colleges and universities this fall, an administration official said yesterday, crushing advocates who were counting on the governor to deliver on a pledge to support the students. Earlier this year, Patrick said he was considering ways to offer illegal immigrants in-state rates, such as issuing a regulation, adding that it would be "the right thing to do."
