TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 27-year-old man was killed instantly when he made contact with an energized power line. Orange County Fire Authority Captain Steve Concialdi tells CBS2 that the man was taking pictures of Saturday night’s sunset from a tree in the back of his parent’s Tustin home when he was electrocuted. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s department is investigating after deputies found a man dead near an abandoned farm. Deputies were called just after 8 o’clock Tuesday night to an abandoned residence off of 40th Ave. and Viola Road NE. Upon arrival they located the body of an adult male near a power pole. The sheriff’s department says after early investigations they believe the male was cutting and scrapping wire from the farm and that he cut into a live electrical wire. Wichita police say a man in his 20s died while trying to steal copper on the city's south side. A passerby called 911 after finding the man's body around 2 p.m. Friday near I-135 and Pawnee. His bicycle was found leaning against a utility pole along with a flashlight and bolt cutters, said Wichita Police Lt. Dennis Wilson.
